Family Ties

Three dates for the Family Values Tour, which will feature the rock & roll stylings of Stone Temple Pilots, Staind, Linkin Park, Static-X and Deadsy, have been announced. The traveling music festival will be visiting:

  • Cleveland (Oct. 11)
  • Chicago (Oct. 12)
  • St. Paul, Minn. (Oct. 13)

Down Time

System of a Down will shoot the breeze with Rolling Stone writer Anthony DeCurtis during a webcast interview Friday at 2 p.m. EDT. If you miss SOAD then, catch them on the newly expanded Pledge of Allegiance Tour when it hits a town near you. SOAD's new disc, Toxicity, drops Tuesday.

New Brainstorm CD

Germany’s BRAINSTORM will issue their latest studio effort, entitled Metus Mortis, in North America on October 30th, South America on November 6th, Japan and South East Asia on November 22nd and in Europe on October 29th. Metus Mortis comes with “fantastic” cover artwork and layout and will be released as limited digipack edition in some parts of the world. As previously reported, a European tour has been confirmed with GRAVE DIGGER and TIERRA SANTA in January 2002.

Ozzy Is Rejected

SYSTEM OF A DOWN have turned down an offer to take part in the upcoming Black Christmas festival tour—which is set to include OZZY OSBOURNE and ROB ZOMBIE, among others—citing their commitment to the Pledge Of Allegiance package (also featuring SLIPKNOT) and the pressure from said tour’s promoters to turn down other high-profile gigs taking place too soon after the latter tour as the main reason for their non-involvement.

Papa O'brien

Papa Roach have lined up producer Brendan O'Brien (Korn, Stone Temple Pilots to helm their upcoming new album, which they plan to enter the studio to begin recording in November/December. A spring release next year through Dreamworks is being eyed. At present, the group have around 10 songs written, tentative track titles are as follows:

  • "Eat The World"
  • "AA"
  • "The Tyranny Of Normality"
  • "Digging In The Dirt I Found Mud"

Flotsam & Jetsam's New Singer

Following the departure of vocalist Eric AK, Flotsam & Jetsam have brought in former Helstar man James Rivera. He'll be heading out on the road shortly with the band, and this tour will include a visit to the UK to play London's Camden Underworld on October 30.

However, Metal Update claims that former singer "Erik AK has decided not to tour with the band anymore, but will record with F&J if and when there are any new releases."
