Last Temptation
Alice Cooper's latest album, Dragontown, will drop Oct. 9. The disc is the third installment in a trilogy Cooper began with 1994's The Last Temptation and continued on last year's Brutal Planet. "Triggerman," a track from the Coop's new disc, will be available for download here on Tuesday.
Rock Meets Billboard
Aerosmith, Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach and Tool have been nominated in the Best Hard Rock Clip of the Year category for the 2001 Billboard Music Video Awards. Drowning Pool, Linkin Park, Stereomud and Crossbreed captured nods in other categories. The ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on Nov. 2.
Manson Speaks Out Against Charges
Marilyn Manson has spoken out against criminal sexual conduct charges leveled at him Thursday in a Oakland County, Mich., courtroom. "There is no point to this," Manson writes on his website. "This is nothing more than yet another attempt to run MM into the ground." The shock-rocker allegedly rubbed his genitals on a security guard's head during a July 30 Ozzfest performance. Manson appears on Fox News Channel's The O'Reilly Factor Monday at 8 p.m. EDT.

“Sympho-metal” Danish combo ROYAL HUNT have parted ways with SPV/Steamhammer Records in Europe and have signed a new deal with Frontiers Records. ROYAL HUNT’s brand new release, entitled The Mission, will be issued on September 19th. The group’s sixth studio album, The Mission is a concept CD based on the SciFi novel Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury.

The following “questionable” item was posted on the stonerrock.com message board:
“In November, DOWN fans around the world will be able to watch the band write and record their new record. This will be done via a live Internet webcast 24 hours a day for a month. For a fee, fans will be able to sign up and watch DOWN write and record their long-awaited 2nd album. Also to be made into a movie at a later date. Contact www.NOLA-Down.com for further details.”
A similar item was posted on the Supersite Ritual Unofficial Phil Anselmo web site, but without a reference to the above URL (www.NOLA-down.com), which—further investigation reveals—was never registered and is currently still up for grabs.

Monsters of Mock
A one-day tribute band festival is planned for Sunday August 26th, at Maples Bar n Grill in Manorville, NY. It's an all day affair, with all you can eat after admission and NY's best tribute bands will be performing live. The lineup in order is:
