Static-X Frontman Comments On Ozzfest
Rolling Stone magazine reports: For the first time in its twelve years, Ozzfest is free. All fifteen acts on this year's bill — from Finnish monster rockers LORDI to headliner OZZY OSBOURNE — are playing for nothing; sponsors, merch sales, parking and beer cover the show's costs. "We're taking a huge, huge loss," says Ozzy's wife/manager Sharon, one of the event's organizers. "But I believe if we can pull it off in the end, then next year's we'll get bigger sponsors and it'll be profitable for everybody."
"It's not easy to say yes to spending your summer not making any money," says LAMB OF GOD drummer Chris Adler. "But we hope that the people that come to see us enjoy the show enough to maybe go buy a T-shirt, and we get to keep putting gas in the tank to get to tomorrow."
One band, STATIC-X, only agreed to play after securing a sponsor: Singer Wayne Static displays a Monster logo on his guitar. "You gotta do what you gotta do," he says. "I don't really give a shit. I'll drink piss if there's money. Plus, Ozzfest is an institution."

35% Of Heavy Metal Songs Have Satanist Content
Interfax has issued the following report:
Most heavy metal songs are about murder and suicide, the Serbsky State Research Center for Social and Forensic Psychiatry professor Fyodor Kondratyev opines.
"Having researched 700 most popular heavy metal songs revealed that half of them is about murder, 7 percent is positive about suicide, and 35 percent preaches a variety of Satanist ideologies", Kondratyev said in his interview published in Rossiyskaya Gazeta daily on Monday.
He shared with the journalists that according to the American National Education Association every year near 6,000 young Americans kill themselves under the influence of music like that.
According to the expert, Satanism is popular among the teenagers from problematic families, who aim at "taking vengeance on the society" and "look for the similarly-minded teens - so their stress mollifies and they start thinking they are better that the normal children".
The professor said that according to the information he got during a forensic psychiatric examination of a criminal, in Moscow there were five strong Satanist groups with 1,000 members, while in Russia there over 100 groups like that.
The same criminal said that during the previous five years the Satanists had committed over 20 ritual murders, Kondratyev said.
However, he added, in today’s Russia it is hardly possible to put somebody into jail for on a ritual homicide accusation.
‘Good defenders and threatening of witnesses may destroy any process. I know it from my years of experience as legal expert,’ he added.
Exodus Drummer Returns, Guitarist Updates On Album
Exodus guitarist Gary Holt has issued the following update:
"Everyone always talks about how their next record is the next this or that, all I'm going to say is this next record is a crushing landmark in Exodus history. I am stoked. Truly. I'm not giving out the title (or titles) right now, so you'll have to wait and be patient! But man, this new shit is aggressive with a capital A! Thrash metal at its hardest."
Exodus recently announced the return of drummer Tom Hunting:
"It was always understood that when and if Tom was ever ready to resume his drumming duties for the band, his seat would be waiting," Holt said in a statement. "Paul [Bostaph] always knew this, and was the first to say it upon joining the band. Paul and Tom have always been good friends and we, as a band, cannot thank Paul enough for his services on Shovel Headed Kill Machine and all the subsequent tours he did to support that album. We had a great time and kicked many asses along the way."
As previously reported, Exodus will be launching a short tour on the West Coast on, Aug. 04 beginning in San Marcos, CA
After Forever Invites LA Fans On Shopping Spree
Dutch guitarist & composer Sander Gommans is very familiar with the old American saying, "The boy with the most toys WINS." Combine that philosophy with a personal quest to collect every possible piece of He-Man (Masters of the Universe) merchandise and the result can be a lethal blow to any savings account.
So where does a Dutch fan of an early 1980's American cartoon go when looking to expand his collection? The answer is the renowned Frank & Son Collectibles, a warehouse of vendors in the City of Industry frequented by the likes of Slayer's Kerry King and Dimmu Borgir's Silenoz.
As part of After Forever's first promotional trip to the Los Angeles area, Sander Gommans and lead singer Floor Jensen would like to invite their fans to meet with them in front of the Frank & Son warehouse on Wednesday, August 1st, 2007 from 2-3 p.m. and then accompany them on their shopping spree which will begin at 3 p.m.

Katalysator Changes Name To Invidious
Swedish Katalysator recently changed their name to Invidious and with this change they opened a new myspace account including the following entry in their blogsection: "Invidious is exactly the same band as Katalysator, but with a different purpose. With the first Katalysator-tape we only wanted to play old-sounding-death metal.. But now we have understood that it is so much more and with the "Mass Genocide Ritual" tape we wanted to go further, we wanted to explore the metal of death. With this new demo we feel that we have created something really disguisting and fucked up, great shit. We feel just like a new, ugly, rotten band with this tape, and that is exactly what we now have become... INVIDIOUS".
