The_Network Adds New Singer and Bassist
The_Network has officially announced the addition of both a new singer and bassist to their line-up. Here's a statement from the band:
"With Scott's final show being last week on Friday the 13th, we are pleased to announce we have not only one new member but two. The vocal duties will now be handled by Mikey Bones and bass duties by (Wolf Grenade) aka Bennett.
"We have been practicing with this new lineup for close to a month now and things are shaping up well beyond all expections. Writing for the next record has already started. And with Mike and Bennett in the new line up things can be expected to be FAST on the new stuff. We're heading out for two months come August 3rd where we'll be spanning the entire U.S. Then we come home for October where we will be doing select weekends before we leave again in November with some yet to be announced headliners.
"This is a new leaf we are turning with a new solid line-up, and while our original singer Scott will be missed we are confident that the new stuff will be just as good if not better with the new line-up. If not better then at least faster!"

Lordi Cancel Off Date Shows
Finland's monster rock n roll band LORDI, currently on the mainstage of Ozzfest 2007 (with headliners OZZY OSBOURNE, LAMB OF GOD and STATIC-X), have cancelled their previously announced off-date shows during the summer tour.
In a written statement from the band it says: “Things have been going exceptionally well for Lordi this summer on Ozzfest 2007. We’ve had some great crowd responses so far and the shows have been a lot of fun. Lots of rock n’ roll and pyro!
And because the shows have been going over so well – the fans really are into what Lordi have brought to the tour - we feel that taking the LORDI show into a smaller club environment won’t deliver the full stage show that we are playing every night as part of Ozzfest so we’ve decided to cancel the previously announced off-date shows in Montreal, Toronto and Chicago. We don't want to downsize the band's explosive show!
We do hope that those who have bought tickets to come to the off-dates will make it out to Ozzfest and see us and all the other great bands playing in front of thousands of fans.”
Ozzfest 2007 continues till the end of August. See full tour dates here. Lordi released their album The Arockalypse March 20th, 2007 in North America on The End Records.
In other news, an interview with Lordi is now appearing on Monsters HD (the first 24/7 commercial-free all horror channel that broadcasts in 1080i high definition) both online and on the network. You can view the interview with Lordi online at www.MonstersHD.com (make sure to maximize the screen on the player located underneath the TV screen) or tune into the Monsters HD channel on the Dish Network or Cablevision. The piece will air throughout the rest of the summer to promote their appearance on Ozzfest.
Judas Priest Warn Against Unofficial Books
JUDAS PRIEST have posted this message on their official website:
"There are many unofficial books about JUDAS PRIEST coming onto the market - some already out there - people making out that theirs is the 'Official' book on the band etc. Please note that none of these books have been approved by the band. The band have not been involved in them at all so they are not official!! We will be doing an official book sometime in the not too distant future and when we do we will announce it so until then just know that these others are not the real thing!!"
The legendary metallers are currently working on a concept album based around the life of Nostradamus.
Megadeth Bassist Checks In
MEGADETH bassist James Lomenzo has posted this message on the band's official forum:
"What a fantastic trip it's been so far this year. It's been such an honor to cross the ocean once again and play for you all with the mighty MEGADETH. I haven't had much time to reminisce, family health problems have kept me pretty much on vigil since I've returned. Now that things are improving allow me to take some time to catch up. The enthusiastic response from the fans and the press here in the States and internationally has been mind blowing! It's one thing to talk to a journalist on the phone and have him or her say 'this is MEGADETH back to form', but it's quite another thing to see the vehemence of the crowd as they sing along to 'Washington Is Next!', 'Never Walk Alone' and 'Sleepwalker' in each and every city. You have no idea what a payoff that is, to see that kind of response. I humbly thank you. Now, on to my broken toe. You travel the world, a different hotel room every night. Not a whole lot of sleep... perhaps a bit of the spirits... not a scratch, not even a bruise. I return home and on my first night, I walk to the corner of my bed to grab the phone which is ringing, when all of a sudden... I'm alarmed by a strange 'click' from my right foot. I look down, only to realize that a slight miscalculation of about 2 mm put my toe in an unnatural and very painful position. I immediately reach down and try force the digit back into it's rightful position next to the other little 'piggies', no go. So now, it's finally my turn to visit old Doc Barton. Anyway, I'm hobbling about here considering the relative safety of the continuation of our 'Tour Of Duty', I may just tie myself to this chair until September... just to stave off any other potential hazards around the house.
I'd like to extend myself to you bass players out there. Post any questions or discussions you'd like to address directly to me in the musicians forum. I'll be happy to participate in as many posts as my time will allow. In the past I've use my website for this but since the last spam-inator's hostile take over, I've had to shut the forum down. I'd love to pick it up right here at old Megadeth.com.
Best to you all for now. Oh, one more thing... I may have something real interesting to post next week... see you then!"

Possessed Announce US Tour Dates
San Francisco Bay Area metal legends POSSESSED have scheduled the following U.S. dates in November:
Nov. 24 - West Springfield, VA @ Jaxx
Nov. 25 - New York, NY @ B.B. King Blues Club & Grill
The Internet pre-sale started today (July 23) exclusively through EnterTheVault.com and will run until August 17 at which point tickets will be available through all normal ticketing services.
POSSESSED's lineup for the above-listed dates is expected to consist of sole original member Jeff Becerra (vocals) backed by members of California's SADISTIC INTENT.
Some time after POSSESSED's last release in 1989, Jeff Becerra was left paralyzed from the waist down in a shooting incident. In a 2002 interview with Battle Helm, Becerra was asked about the many different reports that had circulated about what happened to him — ranging from punishment from God to a carjacking. "That's all bullshit," he replied. "Firstly I don't believe in God. What happened is that a couple of crackheads robbed me when I was coming home from work and they shot me with a 9mm in the chest and a 21 in the hand. In some ways it was kinda stupid because I could've given them the money but it was the way they asked me and I told 'em to get fucked. They were caught that night and at their trial one of them said that the only reason they didn't finish me off was because they ran outta bullets. They went to prison but one of them somehow got released later and he managed to kill five more people..."
A limited-edition POSSESSED seven-inch single on multi-colored vinyl was released last year on Boneless Records in association with B.A.D.M./N.Y.D.M. Entitled "Ashes from Hell", the first 100 copies of the single came with a collector's pick.
Formed in the early '80s, POSSESSED released "Seven Churches" via Combat Records in 1985. They would follow with "Beyond the Gates" and the five-song EP "The Eyes of Horror" before disbanding several years later. A "best-of" collection, "Victims of Death", was released in 1993.
Biomechanical Announce New Drummer
U.K. epic progressive metallers BIOMECHANICAL have announced the addition of 18-year-old drummer Jonno Lodge to the group's ranks. Lodge joins the band as the replacement for Matt C., who left BIOMECHANICAL last week due to "personal reasons."
Commented BIOMECHANICAL frontman John K: "I can't quite believe that we got somebody in just a few days!
"The response for the drumming position has been overwhelming and I would like to thank all who contacted us.
"Jonno is an avid DREAM THEATER fan which makes it easier for us to gel with him in terms of time signature changes etc. Has been playing the drums since the age of four and is classically trained.
"After watching his solo, [we] realized the potential of this collaboration could be awesome and the only logical thing after hearing him play was to offer him the job!
"So [we] would like to welcome the dude in the band and to say that we are looking forward to working with him!"
BIOMECHANICAL's new album, "Cannibalised", is due to be released early 2008 via Earache Records.

Andy Sneap To Appear On Bruce Dickinson Show
Producer Andy Sneap (ARCH ENEMY, MEGADETH, NEVERMORE, ONSLAUGHT) has posted this message on his official website:
"So I'm trying to meet deadlines once again. This EXODUS album has been pretty brutal as far as hours and time. I flew out to San Francisco on June 10, got off the plane at 5:30 PM and was in the studio by 8PM, not one day off in 20 days, 14 hrs a day. That hurt, especially as two weeks of that was tracking overdubs in their rehearsal room/makeshift studio with no air con for the first week... in Oakland... yay! But it was fun, we always have a blast. I always say its like being in cartoon world working with Gary Holt (EXODUS guitarist).
MEGADETH has been going great, good chart positions all round, and I'm currently mixing/compiling a box set for EMI for an October release. I'm not saying anything more about it as I don't think details have been released on it.
Some albums worth mentioning that I've done of late, DESPISED ICON and JOB FOR A COWBOY. I became educated in different forms of blast beats which I didn't know existed. reeee reeee to the Canadians!
As usual Monte at Roadrunner destroyed any chance of me enjoying the DEVILDRIVER mix by driving me insane with his constant emails, second guessing, Ted Jensen worship and .3db vocal pushes. I've aged 10 years in six months. But the end result was worth it.
SABBAT gigs have been fun also. We played Ireland a couple of weeks ago and it was by far the tightest we've played since we've been back together. Upcoming shows are Wacken Germany - August 3, Bloodstock UK - August 18, Up From The Ground Germany - August 24 and Hole In The Sky Norway - August 25. No we are not writing a new album but DVD is in the pipeline.
Last couple of this, Peavey are running some pretty cool ads with me in and I've got an interview with Bruce Dickinson for the Friday Rock show in the next couple of weeks. Not sure on the broadcast date at the mo.
So I'm off, EXODUS to finish. Six songs into the mix. Check back in six months for the next exciting out of date installment."
