Underground Compilations
The upcoming Vertigo Productions "Lot 49" compilation is now expected to be released on October 30th. The effort features a variety of underground acts, including dredg, Element Of Surprise, [minus], Divided and more.
Old Man's New Album
DIMMU BORGIR guitarist Galder has stated that the recordings for the forthcoming album from OLD MAN'S CHILD, the band that he had founded and put on the backburner while completing the various recording and touring commitments with DIMMU BORGIR over much of the last year, will likely start in March 2002 at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden. Current DIMMU BORGIR and former CRADLE OF FILTH drummer Nick Barker will be behind the kit, while Galder may play the remaining instruments himself unless suitable musicians are found in the meantime.
Gardenian Still Looking
Swedish melodic thrashers GARDENIAN are still seeking a new record deal following their split with Nuclear Blast Records and are continuing to write new material, which they hope to record early next year for a late 2002 release. Among the new song titles that are set to appear on the as-yet-untitled CD are the following:

Metallica Gets Sporty
METALLICA’s “Fuel For Fire” (a demo version with different lyrics of the song “Fuel” off Reload; this version originally appeared on the European single release of "The Memory Remains") appears on an album entitled NASCAR: Full Throttle, issued this week via Hybrid Recordings, in association with NASCAR, Turner Broadcasting, and NBC Sports. Other artists appearing on Full Throttle include SAMMY HAGAR, CREED, THE CULT, MOTLEY CRUE, and THE GRATEFUL DEAD.
All Locked Up
Napalm Death's Shane Embury and Jesse Pintado have once more teamed up with Dimmu Borgir drummer Nick Barker to record a second album under the project name Lockup. Former At The Gates vocalist Tomas Lindberg completes the line-up. The release will be titled 'Hate Breeds Suffering', and is scheduled for release early next year by Nuclear Blast.
Mick Cervino Clinic in London
Mick Cervino, Ex-Ritchie Blackmore (Blackmore's Nights), now with Yngwie Malmsteen will be doing an exclusive clinic in London on December 8 at 2:00pm at the Twelvebar Club at 22/23 Denmark Place, London. Tickets for this clinic can be purchased on the day at the club or by calling the club's ticket booking hotline on (44) 207 209 2248.
New York Steel
The original Twisted Sister line-up will reunite on November 28 in New York for charity. Dee Snider, Jay Jay French, Mark Mendoza, Eddie Ojeda and AJ Pero will perform at the Hammerstein Ballroom, with all proceeds going to the families of those firemen and policemen who died in the September 11 attack on the World Trade Center. Also on the bill are Anthrax, Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley and ex-Skid Row vocalist Sebastian Bach.
Machine Head Scrap First US Single
Machine Head have decided not to release the song 'Crashing Around You' as their new single in the US because of the current global crisis. However, the track will be issued as a UK single on December 3. You can still see the video for the track at Roadrunner Records, where it's been posted.

MP3.com Splits
MP3.com is creating a new division, dubbed MP3 Technologies, which will provide the technology for MP3.com and other Web sites, including the forthcoming Pressplay online subscription service. The Mp3.com web site will still will still give customers a place to listen to music, however.
"We've always seen ourselves as really a technology company," Kostello said. "Now, as part of the larger Vivendi Universal family, we have new customers; so it makes sense to have a separate division."

Secret Port Records sent a few pieces of news about their bands:
- Our first release in January 2001 of greek epic/power metallers DREAM WEAVER with title fantasy revealed is almost sold out. The band will support legendary 80s US band BROCAS HELM, on the 25th of November in AN CLUB in ATHENS GREECE, with RAGING STORM & BATTLEROAR.
- After the successful release of their debut cd in April, 2001, REFLECTION, the legendary greek epic metal band, is planning to offer to the audience this epic metal masterpiece called FIRE STILL BURNS in limited edition picture lp.
- VIOLET VORTEX cd released by SECRET PORT RECORDS in September 2001 is their debut cd titled LURE ELEGANCE. Feel 8 tracks of powerful doom metal in the vein of early CANDLEMASS & ST. VITUS. Their are only 2000 of these CDs pressed in this limited edition and each includes a multimedia live track.
