Slayer Downs Nu Metal

SLAYER frontman Tom Araya was quoted in the October 12th edition of the Swedish daily newspaper Aftonbladet as saying that he's always been afraid to fly and that the terrorist attack on September 11th has increased this fear. SLAYER were booked to fly to Europe on Sept 11th, but had to reschedule the flight. Tom was still prepared to fly because the band's first reaction was to never let the fans down. The Haunted Announce Tour Dates

Swedish thrashers THE HAUNTED have announced the dates for their forthcoming US tour with WITCHERY (THE HAUNTED guitarist Jensen's other band), CATASTROPHIC (featuring ex-OBITUARY guitarist Trevor Peres) and MARTYR AD.

Biohazard New Video

Biohazard have posted the video for their current single "Sellout" online, you can check it out here. The track comes from the groups most recent release, "Uncivilization". In other news, it is rumored that the band may be hitting the road alongside Clutch sometime this winter.

Obituary Drummer Resurfaces

Former OBITUARY drummer Donald Tardy has resurfaced in the backing band for ANDREW WK, a rising Tampa, Florida-based artist who was recently hotly tipped by NME.com to be 2002’s biggest new star, with an upcoming EP release and a full-length CD, entitled I Get Wet, due through Island/Def Jam Records in November.

Satanic Slaughter Signed

Swedish “black/death/thrash” metal act SATANIC SLAUGHTER have signed with Black Sun Records and will be entering Studio Helltower later this month to begin recording their brand new studio album, which is tentatively due in early 2002. As previously reported, SATANIC SLAUGHTER will be appearing at the Motala Metal Fest in Motala, Sweden on Saturday, November 17th, where they will be appearing alongside IN FLAMES, BLAZE, FREEDOM CALL and others.

There's a story on CNet's News.com that links the previously reported attempt of the RIAA to get a clause into an antiterrorism bill to their plan to distribute an program that spoofs a file sharing application, but in fact inhibits the user from trading copyrighted materials via other file swapping programs.

British Black Metal Compilation

'Britannia Infernus' is a double CD documenting the history of British black metal, from Black Widow and Black Sabbath through to Venom and Angel Witch right up to Cradle Of Filth and Meads Of Asphodel. The record is due on October 20 and will be released by Godreah.

No Bloodfeast 2 for Viking Crown

Despite originally accepting the chance to compose the music for new horror movie 'Bloodfeast 2: Buffet Of Blood', Viking Crown have withdrawn from the project. The black metal band featuring Phil Anselmo and Killjoy of Necrophagia, believe that the film is not what they were led
to expect.
