Canada’s KITTIE shot the clip for "What I Always Wanted", the first single off the group’s upcoming Oracle CD, in Toronto this past Friday with director Thomas Mignone (SLIPKNOT, MUDVAYNE). Cryptopsy In Japan
Quebec death metallers CRYPTOPSY will be in Japan this week to present shows in the cities of Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo. Back in Montreal in the middle of October, the band will start to work on new material and will be back on the road next spring for the second leg of the Pain Cometh tour.
Speedealer In The Studio
According to SPEEDEALER singer/guitarist Jeff Hirshberg, the band has laid down 17 tracks during the current recording sessions at The Plant Studios in Sausalito, California with producer Jason Newsted (ex-METALLICA) and engineer Brian Dobbs, “although I doubt if all will make the grade”, stated Hirshberg. “Those that do not will most likely be released as B-sides/E.P.'s/7"/bonus tracks/etc. Working with Jason has been an eye-opening experience, to say the least. Only two weeks into the recording process and already the knowledge we have accumulated from his endless studio hours has been enlightening...and at times maddening. Maddening in a productive way.” Tentatively entitled Second Sight, SPEEDEALER’s upcoming CD is due in early 2002.
Hecate Enthroned Release CD
British black/death metal outfit Hecate Enthroned have finished their forthcoming EP titled, Miasma for Blackend Records.
"The EP sees quite a change in the bands sound since Kings Of Chaos," a statement on the band's website revealed. "While still capturing the qualities of all of the band's releases so far this EP shows complete maturity and proves that the band are not afraid to experiment; from melancholic acoustic sections, to trancey keyboards, to heavy groove laden guitars to soaring clean vocals..."
The track list for Miasma: "So Called Saviour," "New Day Emerges," "Commence The Chaos," "Designed With Hate," "Silenced But For Their Cries (I Am Born Pt. II)" and "Buried Alive (VENOM cover)."
In similar news, Hecate Enthroned are currently working on a European tour featuring Benediction, Agathodaimon and Aeturnus. No tour dates are ready, but expect the event to take place in March 2002.
Miasma hits stores October 22 on Blackend/PHD Records.
Emperors New Video
This was posted at Digital Metal:
Here we are. The premiere of Emperor's video for "Empty." Since day one Emperor has always excelled at taking black metal to its highest possible level - "Empty" is no exception. "Empty" just one of the fine tracks off Emperor's newest (and sadly the last) album, Prometheus - The Discipline of Fire and Demise, and for those hearing it for the first time, we strongly suggest listening to it more than 10 times to hear the track's overall complexity. In fact, Prometheus - The Discipline of Fire and Demise in its entirety is reflective of "Empty" and the sheer compositional feat of guitarist/vocalist Ihsahn. Black metal will never be the same without Emperor.
We here at DigitalMetal are extremely pleased to be a part of Emperor's legacy. Why don't you join us? Click here to check it out.
