Bloodbound To Release New Album In July

When it comes to defending the core values of timeless power metal and combining them with fresh stylistic variations and exciting stories, Swedish power metallers Bloodbound have always been fighting at the forefront. With nine studio albums in 16 years under their belt, the six-piece has proven their versatility and inventiveness countless times. Following the much acclaimed, latest record "Creatures Of The Dark Realm" (2021, AFM Records), Bloodbound have announced the release of their upcoming masterpiece, entitled "Tales From The North!"

"’Tales From The North’ is very much a concept album about the viking era. About the lives of our ancestors up here in the dark, cold and unfriendly environments of the north," explains lead guitarist Tomas Olsson and summarizes the content of their eleven songs: "Different legends and myths intertwine during the course of the songs, leading up to the epic battle of 1066, which marks the end of the viking era."

Those who already know the sound of Bloodbound can imagine the metallic force the band employs to evoke this story. "Tales From The North" will be released on July 7, 2023 via AFM/Soulfood as a 2-CD digipak including a live CD. As a special treat, it will also be released as a strictly limited box set as well as coloured vinyl LPs. More...

Mork Reveals New Album Details

The Norwegian winds blow once more and usher in the new era of Mork in the form of their brand new sixth album "Dypet" set to be released on March 24th via Peaceville Records.

Following the release of 2021’s "Katedralen," Mork returns this year with a new opus – "Dypet," which is due for release on Peaceville Records on 24th March 2023.

"Dypet" sees Mork create a miasma of grim and frost-bitten riffs and harsh vocal melodies, marking the next logical evolution to come from the brilliant mind of Thomas Eriksen. The album simultaneously pushes new ideas forward yet still retains the signature foundations of ice cold hypnotic Black Metal.

Thomas Eriksen comments: "It is with great pride that I am able to present and experience the release of my sixth full length album. I put every single drop of myself into the process of shaping Mork’s music. Perhaps even more so with this new album. As the album title, which translates to 'The Deep,' something from the depths has been brought to the surface, 'Dypet' was inspired by my life over the last couple of years, the thoughts, feelings, passion and the evolving of creative free will. Dive in and let yourself sink into the abyss." More...

Trivium Releases Heaven Shall Burn Cover

Florida heavy metal outfit Trivium has shared their cover of the Heaven Shall Burn song, "Implore The Darken Sky." You can check it out below. A message from the band reads as follows:

"Our cover of Heaven Shall Burn's "Implore The Darken Sky" is now available on all streaming platforms.

"The cover is featured on a split 7" that we are selling on the road and directly to fans while touring Europe. Heaven Shall Burn previously released their cover of "Pillar of Serpents," from our first album From Ember to Inferno.

"In the early days of Trivium, back when we were discovering the many great genres and flavors of heavy music, I knew about the classic greats, I knew about extreme metal, but never before had I heard what HSB was doing," says Heafy. "Heaven Shall Burn's Whatever It May Take album was my first introduction to their brand of metalcore. This fusion of hardcore ethos and metal sounds blew my mind."

Heafy finishes, ""Implore the Darken Sky" is not only my favorite HSB song, but the one that taught me so much about a sound that needed to be injected into Trivium."

Trivium's European tour wraps at the end of the month. The band will announce further 2023 tour plans shortly. More...

Ahab Shares "Mobilis In Mobili" Music Video

Today, extreme doom metal masters Ahab celebrate the release of their critically acclaimed, fifth studio album, "The Coral Tombs," via Napalm Records. It’s the band‘s first full-length offering in eight long years, gaining much praise from both fans and music critics alike.

Following their chart-impacting 2015 album, "The Boats Of The Glenn Carrig," and the epic "Live Prey" release (2020), as usual, the kings of nautik doom – a genre they invented – once again interpret a maritime novel, inspired this time by Jules Verne‘s masterpiece 20000 Leagues Under The Sea. Throughout seven new tracks, Ahab takes their fans on a new musical journey with Captain Nemo and Professor Arronax. Of their entire discography, "The Coral Tombs" is arguably the closest the band has come to their sound resembling a real soundtrack: it‘s evil, it‘s longing, it‘s sad, it‘s meditative, it‘s cavernous, it‘s vast, it‘s ridiculously epic and as heavy as the colossal squid itself!

To celebrate Ahab‘s new album in glorious style, today, the German four-piece has shared a video clip for their final, colossal new album single "Mobilis In Mobili!"

Guitarist Christian Hector comments:
"'Mobilis In Mobili' is quite a cavernous journey. Musically, it feels like a tune that goes back to the very first Ahab song ’The Stream‘ from 2004, at times, and even further to the early 90s when Death Metal exploded. You will know what I mean when you hear that particular riff in the mid section. ’Mobilis in mobili‘ deservedly ended up in our live set, as it‘s a pleasure to play it on stage. The video for the third single taken from our new album, 'The Coral Tombs,' was actually recorded during our first live gig on a ship: the MS Stubnitz in Hamburg, Germany." More...

Night Demon To Release New Album In March

On March 17th, Ventura, California's heavy metal institution Night Demon returns with their third full-length, "Outsider," via Century Media Records. For a first preview of "Outsider," you can check out the music video for the title track below.

Regarding "Outsider," Jarvis Leatherby (Vocals / Bass) recently commented as follows to Decibel Magazine: "Most bands will always tell you that their newest album is the best...I completely understand why bands say that sort of thing, and I do agree that if you're not pushing yourself to be better on the next release, then you should just quit. However, I think it's up to the listener to ultimately decide this, and it's all subjective. 'Outside' is by far the most Night Demon has ever extended ourselves, and for that I am so proud and artistically fulfilled." More...
