Jesus Piece Reveals New Album Details
Hardcore outfit Jesus Piece have announced their sophomore LP, "...So Unknown," due 14th April 2023 via Century Media Records. To celebrate the news, they've also shared the single and music video for "Gates Of Horn."
Jesus Piece gallantly broke onto the scene, turning heads for their feral live shows and grandiose, melodic songwriting which has since cemented them as standard stirrers and boundary-breakers. On "…So Unknown," their Century Media debut, listeners ascend to the apex of metal and hardcore– where a mix of complex instrumentation is led by a manic, shaman- like vocal delivery from frontman Aaron Heard. It’s a cluster bomb of ten anthems, bursting at the seams with memorable riffs and pulsing with fresh ideas. Drummer Luis Aponte promises, "This is as close to a Jesus Piece experience as you’re going to get without standing in front of us."
Their new single, "Gates Of Horn" infuses industrial ambiance juxtaposed against start-stop rhythms, breathing and blasting before merging towards a terrifying, swinging groove. Its accompanying video, directed by Eric Richter, takes viewers through a series of recurring nightmares. "The number one thing is the live performance," says Aponte regarding Jesus Piece’s venomous live reputation. "You can be in the studio and make that record sound insane but if you’re not giving that same energy, that same feeling when you play live, it just doesn’t matter." More...
Elvenking Shares "The Hanging Tree" Lyric Video
April 28, 2023 will see the masters of heavy metal, pagan, folk and melodic death metal, Elvenking, return to fantasy with their epic, new album “Reader Of The Runes – Rapture”, through AFM Records! The band's eleventh studio album marks the sequel to their 2019 blockbuster record “Reader of the Runes – Divination”.
Elvenking set sail to horizons more distant than ever before, boldly taking the world by storm with their quintessentially unique approach to heavy, powerful music. As guitarist Aydan and vocalist Damna recently revealed, "Part 2 is darker, it needed to be tragic and violent and this gave us the chance to fully breathe the soundscape we already had in mind as we started to write songs in early 2020. We feel that with this album, we have cast a milestone and set a further limit in what we can do by mixing wisely what we deeply love in metal. We are very satisfied with all the shades that compose these eleven songs; altogether they make a canvas we are very proud of."
Says the band: "The Hanging Tree is a song that sets a violent darker tone as we dive deep into the core of the story narrated in the second part of the “Reader of the Runes” trilogy. If “Rapture” was more epic, slow paced and filled with many different shades and textures, “The Hanging Tree” is a merciless fast cavalcade that goes straight to the point with a heavy fast riffing, melodic yet aggressive vocals, big choirs in the chorus, two insane guitar solos and a folk break in the middle that our dear EK fans will definitely love. It will surely be a highlight in our forthcoming live shows." More...

Ov Sulfur To Release Debut Album In March
Blackened deathcore outfit Ov Sulfur have shared details of their debut full-length album, "The Burden Ov Faith," due 24th March via Century Media Records. In celebration of the announcement, they've released an emotionally-charged music video for new single "Earthen." You can watch the emotionally charged video below.
On the subject matter of the new single, vocalist Ricky Hoover comments:
"'Earthen' is about my nephew who died from cancer at 16. After failed bone-marrow transplants, he decided to stop and let it take its course. It's about witnessing that and being there, holding him when he died. That song is very emotional for me... I was actually crying in the studio tracking vocals. We needed the video to capture the sheer tragedy of that situation to really underscore how unfair and unjust it is for any 'god' to put a child through something as awful as cancer."
Guitarist/vocalist Chase Wilson adds:
"The guitar lead from this song is the first thing I wrote that ended up on the album, well over a year ago. The song came together quickly after that and has stayed very similar since. As such, it'll appeal to fans of the Oblivion EP, as well as the newer stuff we've been putting out, with the most obvious growth being Ricky's emotional singing and Leviathvn's super tasteful drumming. We're all really proud of this one." More...
Katatonia Debuts "Opaline" Music Video
The day has come to dive into the most beautiful realms of melancholy, as Swedish grand seigneurs of gloom Katatonia have finally unveiled their Napalm Records debut and new studio album, Sky Void of Stars. "With Sky Void Of Stars," Katatonia has already enthralled critics and fans worldwide - resulting in extensive streaming and video views as well as various cover stories. On top, the album ranks at #1 on several soundchecks like German Rock Hard and Legacy Magazine.
With a captivating, story driven music video for hypnotizing "Opaline," the entity around founding members Jonas Renkse and Anders Nyström not also emphasizes the release, but also teases their Twilight Burials EU & UK tour with Sólstafir and SOM – kicking off today in Tampere, Finland. The video shows impressions from the band’s latest US tour and prepares fans for a unique live experience to remember. "Opaline" embraces Katatonia's intense, genre-bending style, significantly shaping the scene while still staying true to their own musical values.
Daniel Moilanen on "Opaline":
"'Opaline.' A bleak, yet thunderous anthem for our empty sky. A dim gaze upon a time deliberately fleeting like the migratory bird. A final single and a taste of the future?" More...
