Malevolence Reveals "Antithetical" Teaser Trailer

Portuguese extreme progressive metallers Malevolence today reveal the teaser trailer for their upcoming third full-length album "Antithetical." Malevolence teamed up with Metalunderground.com for the U.S. premiere and Infektion Magazine for the Portuguese side, with the trailer available below.

"Antithetical" is the first studio work from the band in a period of thirteen years, and this will be the very first chance to sneak a quick listen to the new material. The full sound of the album is represented below in the preview, which includes 4:20 worth of musical passages from the vast assortment contained within the release.

Malevolence in 2012 expands the band's extreme metal sound, enriching it even further. “Antithetical represents our musical progression bursting on hard commitment and total dedication!” says vocalist Carlos Cariano. “We are one of the most long running and iconic metal exportations from the Portuguese soil and Antithetical is a ravaging journey constructed and depicted throughout the seven (7) experienced havoc anthems we have delivered. The new material sounds exactly how I envisioned it (during the production design) and the way WE as Malevolence wanted it to sound on this new record.”

The "Antithetical" album features the same line-up responsible for the recording of "Martyrialized," including core members Carlos Cariano (vocals/guitars), Aires Pereira (bass), Fred Noel (guitars), and Paulo Pereira (keyboards) alongside session drummer extraordinaire Dirk Verbeuren (Soilwork, The Devin Townsend Project, Jeff Loomis). A Band Of Orcs Reveals New Album Artwork

It seems like an epoch since A Band of Orcs debuted in Orctober of 2007 with the "WarChiefs of the Apocalypse" EP (reviewed here) and the accompanying “Into the Maelstrom” video. Since that time the band also contributed a Type O Negative cover to our Peter Steele tribute album, and released a set of fantasy gaming minis.

Now, 5 years later, the monsters of DIY underground metal strike back with a self-titled full-length concept album, detailing the adventures of the Gore-Stained Axe Tribe as they war against the giants of Hirntodia. This offering is produced (executive producer Gruesom Grimp) and engineered by Juan Urteaga of Trident Studios, whose most recent engineering credits include Machine Head’s “Unto the Locust” and portions of Testament’s upcoming “The Black Roots of Earth.”

Metalunderground.com is proud to host the exclusive unveiling of the artwork for the new self-titled album, which can be viewed below.

The story relates, in the form of 12 metal tales, how the Gore-Stained Axe Tribe (i.e., A Band of Orcs and orc-kin in the home realm of Hirntodia) come to be hired and geased (if you don’t know what that means, check out this Wikipedia article) into settling some “giant troubles” for a neighboring human kingdom. The orcs don’t appreciate the coercion of the geas too much and vow to return and settle the score with the human kingdom after they fulfill the terms of their quest and vanquish the titan foes of the realm. Autumns Eyes Premieres New Music Video

Solo metal act Autumns Eyes is premiering the first music video off the band's latest release, "Please Deceive Me" (reviewed here) on Metal Underground.com. You can watch the video for the album's title track below.

Band mastermind Dan Mitchell commented on this track:

The video for 'Please Deceive Me' was shot in the eerie haunted woods of Salem, MA where I was originally born and raised by lesbian witches who taught me how to hang myself from an early age. If you pay attention to the lyrics of the song, you'll notice a similarity with the visuals as well. Its basically about addiction abuse, and how its such a struggle to break free from that when you are faced to live a life with so many reminders of your past haunting you day after day. Im not going to lie, it was a bit creepy having to hang myself. That was a real noose, tied to a real tree, around my real neck. Granted it wasn't as violent a hanging to where I would suffer death, but terrifying to pull off nonetheless. My bloody eyeball at the end was not quite a thrilling experience either. Hopefully the kids like it!

"Please Deceive Me" Music Video:

"Please Decieve Me" was released on April 1, 2012 and can be heard in full and ordered via Autumns Eyes' bandcamp page. The band's recently remastered back-catalog is also available there.

Desalmado Premieres New Song Online

Brazilian grindcore band Desalmado is preparing a new, self-titled album for release on July 31st via Greyhaze Records. Metal Underground.com has obtained the premiere of a new song off of this effort. The song is entitled "Juizo Dos Fracos" and can be heard in the player below.

The new, self-titled album, which is the follow up to the band's "Hereditas" EP (reviewed here), was produced by Jean Dolabella of Sepultura and mastered at West West Side. The album contains 15 tracks total.

Stated Desalmado guitarist Bruno Teixeira on the results of their latest output: "I am very happy with this album. I'm pretty sure that it is more varied than anything we've ever done, with production that has that vibe of old recordings, with a live feel to it."

About this song specifically, Teixeira states: "It is a straightforward one, with some influence of thrash metal and hardcore, but maintaining our identity. We have a special guest on that song; Marcus D'Angelo, a great friend and lead singer of Claustrofobia. From the lyrical perspective it follows the same line of thought of the entire album: an utter criticism of religion, which brainwashes people into blind obedience."

Here's the "Desalmado" track listing:

1. Sem Nome
2. Canibal Social
3. Delirio
4. Cegueira Santa
5. Todos Vao Morrer
6. Juizo Dos Fracos
7. Sofrer, Morrer e Apodrecer
8. Odio Instintivo Contra a Realidade
9. Falso Profeta
10. Herege
11. Ceifador
12. Penitencia e Subversao
13. Suicidio Assistido
14. Anticristo
15. Cozido Para Animais (Japanische Kampfhörspiele cover)

The band recently released a documentary video from their latest European tour, which you can see here.

Revocation Posts New Headlining Tour Blog

Drummer Phil Dubois-Coyne from Revocation has checked in with Metalunderground.com for another exclusive look at the band's headlining tour with Cannabis Corpse and Ramming Speed. The previous road report can be read here. Phil had this to say:

"Hey douchebags! Phil here, back again with the final blog of our headlining tour. I know your all getting sick of them at this point, but don’t worry this is the last one until June, so just shut up and read it.

"Well, as I left off last time, we had just gang banged our stomachs with delicious burgers from Kuma’s Korner in Chicago. Unfortunately, right as I was riding the high from that amazing meat orgy, I had a shocking encounter which completely soiled my opinion of the windy city. Now to all you RevoManiacs in Chicago, I mean no offense. I have many a fond memory eating your unnecessarily huge pizzas, and drunkenly wandering the streets of your unnecessarily huge city. BUT, I was never made aware that Chicago houses some of the most insidious, subliminal planting of racist ideologies into young, defenseless minds that I have ever seen. I mean honestly, this is completely unacceptable!

Common Dead Premieres New Fear Factory Cover

Metalunderground.com is premiering the one-man cover for the Fear Factory song "Flashpoint," recorded by deathrash/groove outfit Common Dead. The track originally hails from the 1995 album "Demanufacture." All instrumentation and mixing for the cover was the solo effort of Common Dead's founder, Andrew Laurenson, including the recreation of sound bytes meant to mirror samples in the original. Check out the cover below.

Comments Laurenson: "This was a favorite song of mine that tends to get overlooked by some. It starts heavy, reaches up for melody, then crashes down heavy again. A short and sweet punch to the face that also hadn't been covered to death. This raw mix was made around sessions for the 'Diatribe' album as an homage to the masters of futurist metal."

Common Dead released its flagship effort "Diatribe" (reviewed here) in early 2012 after relocating to Montreal, Canada from the United States. The effort received warm reviews from press, including 3/5 from Metal Underground and 4/5 from Brutalism. Following the release, plans were announced to expand the official roster of Common Dead and induct new members for upcoming efforts.

"Common Dead was never exclusively a solo project, and that was something I voiced early on through websites and interviews" explains Laurenson. "Each time I would find myself playing all the instruments, it was just a matter of circumstances I was facing at the time and wanting to get something done in spite of it all. I'm looking to burn that cycle. I'm glad I got those solo works in the books, I'm proud of that era, but now I'm interested in starting a new era, and having more of a team."

Submissions from possible bandmates in the Montreal region are welcome at commondead@gmail.com. For more info and updates, join the band's Facebook page.

Stream Autumns Eyes' New Album In Full

Solo metal band Autumns Eyes is gearing up to release its long awaited new album, "Please Deceive Me" (reviewed here) and Metalunderground.com has the full album stream album nearly a full week prior to release. You can hear the album in the player below. "Please Decieve Me" will finally be released on April 1, 2012, after delays stemming from Autumns Eyes mastermind Dan Mitchell undergoing hand surgery, contributing to and coordinating Metalunderground.com's Peter Steele tribute album, and the Fall snow storm of 2011 among other things.

Of the release, Dan Mitchell commented:

"I'm really excited about this new release as its become a chance to explore different production techniques which focus completely on the listeners' experience. There was a lot of care and thought put into dynamics, and volume control. In a time where so many metal albums are becoming squashed due to the ongoing loudness wars, finding an album with dynamics that won't hurt your ears when you turn it up is few and far between. When you listen to an overly compressed album at high volumes, your hearing gets shot much quicker. The loud parts are loud, the soft parts are loud, and the dynamics have been completely destroyed. That's not the case with 'Please Deceive Me.' The music breathes throughout each song, and in turn gives the songs energy in all the right spots. I encourage listeners to use their volume knobs here, and turn it way the fuck up!"

The complete track listing for "Please Deceive Me" is as follows:

1. Ichabod
2. Blood In the Woods
3. Anxiety Spiders
4. Please Deceive Me
5. So Close to Shadow
6. Pangea
7. Cobwebs and Crosses
8. Red Wine and Resin
9. Haunting Your Daughter
10. The Wooded Road

You can currently pre-order "Please Deceive Me" and get instant downloads of the tracks "Red Wine and Resin" and "Haunting Your Daughter." Head over to www.autumnseyes.com for free wall papers and new merch in the theme of "Please Deceive Me" and songs from the album.

Autumns Eyes recently remastered its entire back catalog, which is available for purchase and download on the band's official bandcamp page.
