Wolfheart Posts New Lyric Video Online

At the beginning of April 2020 just as the world as we knew it began to change, Finnish heavy melodic death metal band Wolfheart released their newest full-length crusher, Wolves Of Karelia, via Napalm Records. Today, the band has emerged from the darkness once again with a vibrant lyric video for their blisteringly heavy track "Horizon On Fire", cut from the new album.

Wolfheart frontman Tuomas Saukkonen says about the track and video:
"Of the entire album, 'Horizon on Fire' is the song that best underlines how outnumbered the Finnish army was with only 32 tanks against over 2500 Russian tanks, 114 aircrafts against Russian 3800 aircrafts and manpower almost three times the enemy during one of the coldest winters of those times. I was born in the Karelian region and my father's family farm is only 7km from the border that was drawn after the war, so I also have a very strong personal connection to those historical events. So, lines like below were written purely to honor the sacrifice of the generation that fought the war.

"In the shelter of the woods
Edges of lakes and fields ages have stood
Winters fury on our side
We can't be defeated
We have to hold the line

"This lyric video was done by our graphics guy, Nikos Stavridakis of VisionBlack, who has done all of our album graphics for the previous three albums. We wanted to give him a bigger role and get him involved in our video production too so he could bring the album graphic work into life in video format, and underline the Finnish Winter War theme even more deeply." Pillory Reveals New Album Details

Boston death metal one-man project Pillory returns with new single 'Imminent Obliteration' and announces long-awaited third album "Scourge On Humanity," set for release on December 18th via Unique Leader Records. In addition to this, a music video for the song, "Imminent Obliteration" can be found below.

Pillory mastermind Darren Cesca (Deeds of Flesh, Arsis, Burn in Silence, Goratory) comments on the single's concemt: "'Imminent Obliteration' is part one of the final piece of the album's 12 minute closer. It’s an aggressive entry to get things started. It details the final days, the last remnants of our life cycle. It represents the storms of fire, which we unleash upon ourselves. The lyrics characterize nuclear war, planned for profit and the fallout that results from that. It seemingly takes us by surprise yet at the same time we always saw it coming."

On the music, Darren continues: "Musically this track touches on several elements from throughout the record. Each instrument goes through a wide range of timing and tempo changes to help tell that story. This record was written and composed in a very organic way and I wanted to first release a track that shows that progression and journey. It sets the mood for the end of the album and the 3three preceding pieces that follow. Each PILLORY album for me is an experimental, extreme, grindy, death metal experience. Enjoy the ride." More...

Asphyx To Release New Album In January

The legendary Dutch death doom elite, Asphyx, finally return with their new, 10th full studio album release. Entitled "Necroceros," the new longplayer was recorded at Tom Meier’s Tom Meier Studio and at Paul Baayens’ The Mörserstudio and then finally mixed and mastered by Sebastian “Seeb” Levermann at Greenman Studios.

"Necroceros," which once again features front cover artwork by Axel Hermann, will be available worldwide on January 22 via Century Media Records.

Asphyx frontman Martin van Drunen comments about Necroceros as follows: “The first recordings for Necroceros started somewhere in November 2019. Mainly just rough ideas. We hired Tom’s studio for a couple of jam-sessions so we could record as soon as we thought something had potential. We finished about 6/7 songs, but after a few listenings we decided there had still quite some work to be done.

"After the 3 previous albums and this one being Asphyx’s 10th official full studio record we were very well aware that the standard had to be incredibly high. Our advantage was that for the first time we had a steady line-up. Since “Incoming Death” we were damned good “worked in” together, one “felt” what the other wanted or where he was music-wise going. With Paul having tons of riffs on the shelves, the earlier takes and the unexpected rapidly spreading Covid-19 outbreak and thus all our gigs being canceled one after the other, we booked Tom once more for a bunch of jam-recordings. Which turned out marvellously...

"It took 2 weekends to finally arrange all songs and tape the drum-tracks. Going completely berserk while playing and being totally satisfied with the variety, rawness, brutality and dynamics of each particular track, we were 100% certain that we were heading in the right direction. More...
