King Records Vocal Tracks for Defyance

Lance King, vocalist for Balance Of Power, has just finished recording vocals on the new Defyance album entitled Transitional Forms. Mixing begins this week, as the album is slated for release on Nightmare Records later this year. It will also be shopped to other labels worldwide. In related news Balance Of Power is currently writing a new album that should be recorded and mixed before the end of the year and which is tentatively slated for an early 2003 release worldwide.

Pain's Album Selected Album of the Month

Sweden's Pain, the brainchild of Hypocrisy mainman Peter Tägtgren have had their third full-length album, Nothing Remains The Same, named "Album Of The Month" by Germany's Hammer magazine. In other news, Tägtgren recently took time out from touring activities to do some writing for the next Pain album, which is not expected to surface before 2003.

Overkill's Bobby Blitz Collapses

Overkill frontman Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth collapsed onstage about 30 minutes into the band's headlining performance in Nürnberg, Germany on Thursday, June 27th after suffering a "minor stroke", according to a message posted on the group's web site.

"As most of you know, Blitz collapsed on stage at a show in Nürnberg and was taken to the hospital by paramedics," reads the group's official statement on the matter. "After some tests he was diagnosed as having had a minor stroke. He was held for 2 days for tests and was released. He is currently still in Europe where he is taking it easy for a few weeks. Doctors said he we make a full recovery and will be 100%! He needs to take some time off for the next few weeks and then Overkill will be in pre-production for a new studio release in February of next year."

Callenish Circle Confirmed for Brutal Assault

Dutch melodic death metallers Callenish Circle have been confirmed for the Brutal Assault festival, which is scheduled to take place in Czech Republic on August 23-24. Also set to perform at the event are Tiamat, Ancient Rites, Sear Bliss, and Danse Macabre, among others.

In other news, Callenish Circlehave cancelled their appearance at the Show No Mercy X-Mass festival stop in Antwerpen, Belgium on December 21st. No reason was given for the cancellation.

Nevermore Enter Preproduction

Seattle-based thrashers Nevermore have entered the pre-production stage of their highly anticipated new album, Enemies of Reality.

"We are currently doing pre-production demos for Enemies of Reality," stated frontman Warrel Dane on Nevermore's official website. "I recently finished the vocals for a song called "Tomorrow Turned Into Yesterday." This tune is turning out great with a chorus that sticks in your head like crazy. The title track and another entitled "Abomination" are going to be the ones that all you Politics Of Ecstasy fans will love…or hate! Jeff is playing some really great solos, from furiously fast and technical, to slow, brooding and beautiful...another track… "Who Decides" is shaping up to be my favorite lyrically, but it's no secret I have a liking for depressing doom tinged lyrics..."
