Brazen Abbot Begin Work on New Album
Nikolo Kotzev and Brazen Abbot are working on a new studio album. The line up is: Joe Lynn Turner (vocals), Göran Edman (vocals), Jørn Lande (vocals), Mic Michaeli (keyboards), John Levén (bass), and of course Nikolo Kotzev (guitars).
Blood of Christ Finish New CD
Blood Of Christ have finished working on their new album. The new studio album is titled As The Rain Gently Falls and is expected at the end of July 2002.
Threshold Reaches Critical Mass
Threshold's new album is reportedly well under way. With a working title of Critical Mass, the disc is scheduled for a September 2002 release.
Debris Inc to Appear at Wacken, Milwaukee
At this years Milwaukee Metalfest and Wacken Open Air you will be able to see Debris Inc., a side project of Trouble bassist Ron Holzner, St. Vitus guitarist Dave Chandler, and Trouble drummer Barry Stern. This looks like a real thing for all the doom freaks out there, be sure to check' em out if you can.
Orchestra of Strategic Influence
It has been confirmed that Orchestra of Strategic Influence is the Official name of the InsideOut all-star project featuring Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy, Fates Warning guitarist Jim Matheos and Chroma Key/ex-Dream Theater keyboardist/vocalist Kevin Moore. The album title will be called O.S.I., which actually stands for Office Of Strategic Influence (strange indeed!). The band were at Carriage House Studios in Stamford, Connecticut between June 2nd and 9th writing and recording material for the project that is scheduled for release through Inside Out in late October/early November. Gordian Knot/ex-Cynic bassist Sean Malone was not present at the Carriage House Studios, but will still be participating in this project.
Mick Harris Starts New "Grind" Project
Former Napalm Death drummer Mick Harris is reportedly looking to start a grind project in the vein of Celtic Frost, Siege, Intense Degree, Slayer, Discharge, etc. A full-length album will tentatively be recorded early next year for a mid-2003 release through an as-yet-undisclosed label.
Theatre of Tragedy Cancel Mexican Dates
Norway's Theatre of Tragedy have cancelled their entire Mexican tour, according to the band's official web site. The move reportedly followed the cancellation of two dates—in Guadalajara and Leon—for reasons that are not entirely clear at this time. "The band is very sorry about this and hope they can make up for it some time in the future!" reads a statement from the group.
For My Pain Nearly Completion of CD
For My Pain, the new Finnish "goth metal" superground featuring Tuomas Holopainen (Nightwish) on keyboards, Altti Veteläinen (Eternal Tears of Sorrow) on bass, Lauri Tuohimaa (Embraze) on guitar, Olli-Pekka Törrö (ex-Eternal Tears of Sorrow) on guitar, Juha Kylmänen (Reflection) on vocals, and Petri Sankala (Eternal Tears of Sorrow) on drums, have reportedly completed most of the recordings for the group's debut album, due later in the year through Spinefarm Records. A possible single release may precede the album in the fall.
