Shai Hulud Album Nearly Complete
Several years in the making, the new Shai Hulud full-length, That Within Blood Ill-Tempered, is nearly complete. Guitarist Matt Fox is currently in California overseeing the mastering process in addition to coordinating all of the audio samples. From a musical standpoint, the album should be totally finished within the next several days. Moreover, artwork is being finalized right now. The artwork is being handled by Chandler Owen, who also did the latest Hopesfall release. On the live front, following a Halloween show at Chance in Poughkeepsie, NY with ETID, 25 Ta Life, and others, Hulud will be on the road throughout November with Hopesfall and Atreyu. Here are the dates: More...
Backstabbers Inc Update
Things have apparently been a little shaky in the Backstabbers Inc. camp as of late. However, despite holes in their lineup and general uncertainty, the band is soldiering on. They are currently writing material for their next release. As this point it appears that former guitarist Mike Justian will perform drum tracks. Justian left the group earlier this year to focus on his other project, The Red Chord, but will apparently be a "major factor in [the] new recording." BSI is also in the process of organizing a tour for February of 2003. Since the group still doesn't have a solid lineup, they hope to have Brian from December Wolves on guitar, and Jon from Daughters on drums. If you can help book a show or two, contact them here.
Emperor to Issue Best Of Collection
The now-defunct Emperor will issue a "best of" collection, titled Scattered Ashes - A Decade of Emperial Wrath, through Candlelight Records in March. "Put together in cooperation with guitarist Samoth, the album is a fitting soundtrack for a band that will forever remain critical to [black metal]'s rise to popularity," states an official press release. More information will be made available shortly.

Norway's Satyricon has made available for streaming the video for the track "Fuel For Hatred" from the group's current Volcano opus at this location. The clip was directed by acclaimed Swedish director Jonas Åkerlund.

Danish death-thrashers Hatesphere, featuring drummer Morten Toft Hansen, will team up with Italy's Infliction for a European tour in January. The trek, which is tentatively set to kick off on Jan. 3, will include stops in Italy, France, Austria, Germany and Belgium.
Hatesphere recently issued their second album, Bloodred Hatred, through Italy's Scarlet Records. A North American deal has yet to be secured for the effort.

Dec. 14 - Linköping, SWE @ Skylten
Entombed has now officially confirmed via its web site that it has selected Fireside guitarist Pelle Gunnerfeldt to produce the group's next studio album, tentatively due in early 2003 through Music For Nations Records. Gunnerfeldt, will be accompanying the band into the studio on November 25th to begin recording the follow-up to 2001's self-produced Morning Star, which was widely received as the Swedish quintet's strongest album in years. No further information is available at this time.
The Haunted Complete One Kill Wonder
Swedish high-energy thrash act The Haunted has completed work on its third full-length album, tentatively titled One Kill Wonder, at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden. "Everything went great and we're all very pleased with the result," stated guitarist Anders Björler. "Expect some really brutal stuff to hit the stores early next year."
Green Carnation to Record New CD
Green Carnation, featuring former Emperor /Satyricon / Einherjer bassist-turned-guitarist Tchort, is planning to enter the studio in January to record its new album, titled The Writings On The Wall.
The follow-up to last year's acclaimed Light of Day, Day of Darkness will contain "a little more rock and prog stuff, and a little less symphonic stuff are definitely what's on my mind at the moment," stated Tchort.
"There are only two songs that are 'ready', which means the drums and the guitars are done and most of the arrangements, but the rest of the record is loose ideas, but we've started jamming a little to speed up my writing.
“We start the recording in January 2003. The plan is to use different studios/locations. We are trying to tape the drums in a concert hall for the live feeling, while piano parts will be recorded in the Dom church here. The bass will be recorded on a tape in Jailhouse studios, while guitars and vocals are done in Dub Studios. Where we're going to mix is not sure yet. Dub Studios and Sound Suite are two alternatives."

Hearse Complete New Album
Sweden's Hearse, featuring current NonExist vocalist Johan Liiva (ex-Arch Enemy) and ex-Furbowl drummer Max Thornell, have finished recording their debut album, Dominion Reptilian, at Stockholm-based Dog Pound Studios (Entombed, Terra Firma)
Dominion Reptilian was recorded over a four week period with technician Jonas Elder, and is described, by the band of course, as "old Furbowl vibe with a touch of Merciful Fate." The sound was achieved due to Liiva and Thornell's previous working relationship in Furbowl, while guitarist Mattias Ljung brought in the Merciful Fate leanings.
Dominion Reptilian should see the light of day sometime in late 2002 or early 2003. More...
