The band will begin recording their new album with producer Rick Rubin (Audioslave, Slipknot) on March 12th.
DOOM DAY is an "all-star" metalcore band with members from London, Sofia and Berlin. The quartet consists of guitarist Gizz Butt (ex-THE PRODIGY, ENGLISH DOGS), drummer Robin Guy (ex-BRUCE DICKINSON, THE BUSINESS), bass player Volcan "Audiocleaner" Tuereli (JAYLAN), and Bulgarian frontman Alexander "Shutta" Parvanov (BROTHERS IN BLOOD, SHE WAS ASKING FOR IT, ex-VENDETTA).
DOOM DAY was formed in December 2005. During the next year they recorded a demo and worked on their full-length debut album, "Count Your Useless Hours", which is being released February 23 via Swell Creek/Superhero Records. The CD was mastered by Andy Sneap and features guest appearances by Kid D (RYKER'S), Sal (SWORN ENEMY), Bruce (100 DEMONS), Rick (25 TA LIFE) and Burkhard (HATE SQUAD).
Tool has been forced to reschedule its previously announced North American tour "due to an injury in the band," according to a press release issued by the group earlier today (Wednesday, February 21). "Over the weekend, drummer Danny Carey tore a bicep. Danny underwent surgery today and is recovering well. Rescheduled tour dates will be announced shortly."
Tool bassist Justin Chancellor recently told Launch that fans who missed the 2006 dates will get a second chance to see a similar show on the upcoming trek. "Actually, we're kind of playing places that we didn't play last year, so I don't think, it won't be, like, completely different songs, you know," he said. "It won't be a completely different thing, but it will be slightly more evolved. I mean, it naturally evolves as we go through time, you know."
Tool intends to record some dates on its next North American tour for a live CD and DVD.
The stage production on the next Tool tour will be "more intense" than the band's last trip, with computer animation and props possibly being included.
The band is supporting its fourth album, "10,000 Days", which has sold 1.4 million copies since arriving last May. The CD's next single is "Jambi".
Shortly after Sharon Osbourne made the big announcement about this year’s Ozzfest – it’s free – she followed it up with another big announcement: Jägermeister will sponsor the entire second stage.
Known as rock’s biggest juggernaut, Ozzfest is now turning to sponsors to provide added support for the festival’s new incarnation as a “FREEfest,” and Jägermeister is taking full advantage of the opportunity.
A longtime sponsor of Ozzfest, Jägermeister will roll out its own state of the art mobile stage for the summer’s biggest heavy metal festival. All second stage acts will play on the Jägermeister stage, a fully self-contained stage hauled cross country by a custom Showhauler toter home, complete with a full audio sound system provided by JVC Mobile and amped by one whopping generator. The stage measures 34’ long, 16’ deep, and 20’ high. The entire PA system, provided by Peavey Electronics and Schecter Guitars, will be hung for optimum sound. The stage will include state-of-the-art lighting by Chauvet. “Jägermeister has been kicking around this idea for a long time. The fact that we’ve spent a year designing and building this stage proves our dedication to music,” says Rick Zeiler, Director of Marketing and Brand Development for Jägermeister. “We can’t wait to showcase it at Ozzfest.”
“Jägermeister has been part of the Ozzfest family for the last eight years,” says Sharon Osbourne. “This year they are kind enough to be supplying Ozzfest ’07 with their revolutionary mobile stage. Jägermeister’s stage and their continued support are helping to make our FREE Ozzfest tour concept a reality.”
“We are incredibly jazzed that Jägermeister is bringing their innovative and state-of-the-art mobile stage on this history-making tour,” says Jane Holman, Vice President of Touring for Live Nation, Ozzfest’s organizer. “Jäger has been a great supporter of Ozzfest and the metal genre for years, and we couldn’t be happier to be able to help them showcase their new baby.”
Bands will play the Jägermeister stage every day from 1-7 p.m. In addition to Ozzfest being free, this year will also see the return of Ozzy Osbourne to the main stage as headliner. He’ll be unleashing new songs from his forthcoming album. It’s going to be a groundbreaking show, and Jägermeister will be there every thundering step of the way. Lineups and ticket information to be announced as details become available. The first show is slated for July 7 in Los Angeles. More dates and cities to be announced.
Norwegian metal band OCTAVIA SPERATI will film the video for its new song "Moonlit" on March 9-11 with director Tommy Næss, who has previously worked with Sahg, Audrey Horne, I and Gorgoroth among others.
OCTAVIA SPERATI's new album is tentatively due in May via Candlelight Records. "Two of the songs are originally from our first EP, called 'Guilty', released in 2002," the group previously stated. "This EP was released by OCTAVIA, and in a very limited edition. We really liked the songs then, and have now rearranged them for a new birth. The new versions kick ass and we can't wait to get this stuff out!"
OCTAVIA SPERATI recorded the new CD with producers Herbrand Larsen (Enslaved, ex-Audrey Horne) and Arve Isdal (I, Enslaved and Audrey Horne), who previously worked with the group on their "Winter Enclosure" debut.
Formed in 2000, OCTAVIA SPERATI's current lineup includes singer Silje Wergeland, bassist Trine C. Johansen, guitarists Gyri S. Losnegaard and Bodil Myklebust, keyboardist Tone Midtgaard and drummer Ivar Alver.
Having recently completed their first national tour alongside Dark Funeral and Enslaved, Phoenix-based ABIGAIL WILLIAMS starts work on its full-length debut this week. The band is expected to finish tracking in early April, with the as-yet-untitled album to be mixed and completed by early May. The band's EP, "Legend", was released Stateside on January 23.
ABIGAIL WILLIAMS will be a performer at the California Metal Fest, scheduled for March 31-April 1. The event will be held at the Galaxy Concert Theater in Santa Ana. Also scheduled to appear are Testament, Flotsam and Jetsam, Sadus and Necrophagist, among many others.
Amassing an impressive quarter million hits to its MySpace page (in under six months), ABIGIAL WILLIAMS defies classification by taking the groove and melody of Gothenburg-styled death metal, face-smashing breakdowns of the hardcore scene and topping it with the bombastic and epic-flavored frostbite of black metal's evilest hordes.

Austria's death metal underground legend Legacy Of Hate will be back 2007 and have joined the Maintain Records Horde. The guys will hit the studio in summer to record their fourth full-length album. You can check out some of Legacy of Hate's material on their MySpace page.
The cover artwork for the upcoming NINE INCH NAILS album, "Year Zero", has been posted online at this location.
"Year Zero" comes out on April 17. The first official single, "Survivalism", will arrive at radio later this month. Two songs from "Year Zero" — "Survivalism" and "My Violent Heart" — have been posted online on the band's MySpace page. A rather short and unrevealing trailer for "Year Zero" can be viewed online (30 MB, Quicktime).
RollingStone.com has posted a lengthy article about the innovative promotion scheme for "Year Zero", which "includes tour merchandising, a dizzying network of websites and, umm, bathrooms in European concert halls." You can read the story at this location.
NINE INCH NAILS frontman Trent Reznor said in a statement that the idea for "Year Zero" came into him in a daydream about the end of the world. He explained, "It takes place about 15 years in the future. Things are not good. If you imagine a world where greed and power continue to run their likely course, you'll have an idea of the backdrop. The world has reached the breaking point — politically, spiritually and ecologically."
Reznor also hinted that "Year Zero" would be the first of two concept albums.
With album number five due for a late May release, it looks like Caliban has been chosen a more fitting title. "The Awakening" usurps the previously announced "From Sorrow to Serenity" title and you can see the cover here.
For VAN HALEN, the stars seemed aligned for a triumphant 2007. Next month, the group will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the plan was to follow that with a summer reunion tour that would feature David Lee Roth back at the mike for the first time since the Reagan years.
But, once again, the backstage soap opera of VAN HALEN is the story of the day.
The VAN HALEN tour has been "shut down," according to a top official at Live Nation, the huge concert promoter that finally surrendered in the face of the chaos surrounding guitar hero Eddie Van Halen. Roth, meanwhile, says he is unsure whether the mercurial guitarist will even travel to New York for the Hall of Fame induction on March 12.
"We have fragile politics in VAN HALEN; please accept that as a partial answer," Roth said. "But I don't know if the Van Halens are going to go....I hope they do, but right now, I just don't know. Hope springs eternal."
Eddie Van Halen declined interviews through his publicist and girlfriend, Janie Liszewski. Conversations with the business team behind the tour paint a picture of a rock star who is somewhere between Axl Rose and Michael Jackson on the music industry scale of eccentric recluses. The result is that the VAN HALEN venture imploded before takeoff, even as THE POLICE, THE EAGLES and GENESIS have efficiently geared up for lucrative reunion tours.
"I cannot tell you how frustrating and completely nuts this has been," one key business figure in the tour said while asking not to be identified on the outside chance that the reunion might be salvaged. "Right now, I have to say, I don't see that happening."

Las Vegas progressive thrashers, 7th Son, have posted new songs on their Myspace page.
The band has also posted the following update regarding the new songs:
"The new songs are up but there are some changes with the levels and some vocal harmonies. We will make these changes on Tuesday.. for now you can play the shit out of these motherfuckers! Leave us as many comments as humanly possible! We want to know what the people think! Enjoy my beauties!
ps. Do not neglect to listen to shout.. its a whole new song!"
