Scum of the Earth (featuring former Rob Zombie guitarist RIGGS) have announced that Ivan DePrume has joined the band. When asked about his decision to join the band, the original White Zombie drummer explained "when Riggs approached me about joining the band, I was like "when do we start touring?". Then he explained that the new album "Sleaze Freak" was just about to be recorded and he wanted me to learn the songs, meet up in LA and lay down drum tracks, so I had all these songs I had to learn in just a few weeks, record my ideas and send em back to Riggs, it all happened so fast...". Riggs continued, "I got Ivan's ideas and loved them, told him he's in and when/where we'd be recording and the rest is history (in the making). He's a perfect fit for the vibe of the band, especially musically. He's an amazing drummer and we're all looking forward to having him on board as a part of the team."
The band will begin recording "Sleaze Freak" on February 13th at Belt of Orion Studios in Los Angeles, CA. sleaze Freak is scheduled for release sometime in Spring/Summer of 2007 through Eclipse Records.
JIM CARREY got into the dark mindset of his latest movie character by listening to the thumping sounds of NINE INCH NAILS and German industrial rockers EINSTURZENDE NEUBAUTEN.
The actor asked THE NUMBER 23 director JOEL SCHUMACHER to help him come up with an iPod tracklist that would help him get into the tormented mind of his obsessed and insane character WALTER SPARROW for dark scenes in the film. So Schumacher commissioned a hardcore goth-rock expert to create a selection of tracks which Carrey could pump through his headphones in between takes.
According to production notes, these tracks included Nine Inch Nails' MR SELF DESTRUCT, VANADIUM I CHING by Einsturzende Neubauten, SKINNY PUPPY's ADDICTION and SLIPKNOT's WAIT & BLEED. A set source says, "Jim often uses music to help him get into character and this pounding industrial rock really helped him create a dark and manic character."
After utilizing several temporary drummers, including Kevin Talley, Cattle Decapitation has been rejoined by former drummer Mike Laughlin, who left the group in early-2006. According to singer Travis Ryan, "we're very happy to rock once again with him! After a much needed break, the man is refreshed and ready to destroy once again!" You can catch Laughlin live with the band as they tour with The Locust and Daughters this spring.
