More On Van Halen Reunion Being Called Off
For VAN HALEN, the stars seemed aligned for a triumphant 2007. Next month, the group will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the plan was to follow that with a summer reunion tour that would feature David Lee Roth back at the mike for the first time since the Reagan years.
But, once again, the backstage soap opera of VAN HALEN is the story of the day.
The VAN HALEN tour has been "shut down," according to a top official at Live Nation, the huge concert promoter that finally surrendered in the face of the chaos surrounding guitar hero Eddie Van Halen. Roth, meanwhile, says he is unsure whether the mercurial guitarist will even travel to New York for the Hall of Fame induction on March 12.
"We have fragile politics in VAN HALEN; please accept that as a partial answer," Roth said. "But I don't know if the Van Halens are going to go....I hope they do, but right now, I just don't know. Hope springs eternal."
Eddie Van Halen declined interviews through his publicist and girlfriend, Janie Liszewski. Conversations with the business team behind the tour paint a picture of a rock star who is somewhere between Axl Rose and Michael Jackson on the music industry scale of eccentric recluses. The result is that the VAN HALEN venture imploded before takeoff, even as THE POLICE, THE EAGLES and GENESIS have efficiently geared up for lucrative reunion tours.
"I cannot tell you how frustrating and completely nuts this has been," one key business figure in the tour said while asking not to be identified on the outside chance that the reunion might be salvaged. "Right now, I have to say, I don't see that happening."

To all you VH fans, there is nothing to worry about. I sent an email to Brad from the official site and asked him what the current state of Van Halen was. He said that the tour was still in the works.
We've went through this in 04. Tour rumors going off and on. We went a while without knowing who the front man was going to be, until they annouced it was Sammy. Just sit tight guys, we will see them this summer :)

Another thing, the management is probably scrambling around due to the Hall of Fame coming around the corner. When the hall of fame is over, we should start hearing some news about the tour. If we don't see VH at the hall, oh well. Atleast they got inducted. I'd rather see them go on tour then go to the induction. Honestly, I think they will be there. Another thing, you have to watch what Dave says. He loves publicity. Just sit tight kids, we'll see them this summer.

eddie needs to get a reality check, we all have to work with people we would rather beat the sh** out of, but we maintain and do what is expected. van haln should put his petty sh** on hold an do what is expected of him, be a f***in professional and get on with what could be the biggest moneymaking single act tour of the year, and give all the old fans and the new fans alike a chance too see th original van halen one more time...HIMMM!!!!

At least VH has delivered a lot over the years. More than we can say for Boston, who could hardly squeeze out a 2nd album. Aside from the personal issues, which should have been worked out prior to a tour even being announced, there may also be health issues to consider. Let's all stay optimistic! VH will tour if they can. It's what they do best. If not, their fans should remain supportive of the band as people and be grateful for the many years, albums and tours. Life is tough for everyone.

Jeez... Can these guys get this together? It's just a freakin job, dammit! Who can't spend a summer doing 40 venues at 65,000 seats each, at an average of $55.00 per ticket? I'm no math whiz, but it's easily worth $150 million in ticket sales alone. Add to that the sales of high margin items like T-shirts and tour programs and possibly a cut of the vending... who knows what they could rake in. Ride in separate tour buses, if you have to. I could spend 40 nights (at 4 hours per night) with Michael Jackson, d*** Cheney, and that Borat guy for that kind of payday.

Watching recent YouTube videos of Eddie at NAMM 2007, it obvious the guy's brain is mush from years of drinking or worse, smoking crack. He looks, talks, and acts like a crackhead...so sad. I'm surprise Valerie would even think of letting Wolfgang go on the road with these guys...

I'm not believing this BS at all. First of all I don't believe it's "management" causing the problem because managers work for the artist and get paid by the artist. If the Van Halen brothers wanted this done it would be done. Secondly it's an incredibly stupid business and marketing situation and surely will hurt ticket sales. I was excited to take my son to see the tour but with all this BS I'm not sure if they'll finish the tour even if it gets started. Plus Eddie was really sloppy and lazy when I saw him on the last tour and his performance at the NAMM show recently was downright embarrasing. Wolfgang came out to jam with Eddie on the last tour and it sucked. My 13 yr old son plays better than Wolfie so I have major concerns about Wolfie playing bass and singing those high harmony parts that Michael Anthony did so well. It appears to me that Eddie can't get along with anybody. Sammy and Mike seem to be two of the nicest guys in Rock and Roll and yet somehow Eddie can't find away to work things out and was even mad at them for touring on there own. But that's stupid because life is short and all those guys aren't getting any younger. Sammy and Mike love to perform and don't want to sit around for years doing nothing like the VH brothers. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the tour happens because I'm a big VH fan but if I had to bet money I'd say no way does the tour happen. If it does it'll be a trainwreck!

It's over!! Good things come to an end & we need to accept it. Edie will float away into old age with a bottle of whine! The next generation comes along. Anthony & Sammy are probably stand-up guys that are sick-to-death of working with a festering alcoholic!!!!!!
Saw them 3 times over the years in Vancouver. twice with Dave & once with Sammy (Balance Tour-Wicked) Will keep the good memories. Sorry for the Eulogy. Best wishes to all.

1st Roth, then Sammy & most recently Michael Anthony all banished because of Eddies F*ckin' imature, boozed up ego. I, as many of us did sided with Roth when Eddie exiled him. We all know that Roth stole Eddies thunder in th 80's and Eddie's ego couldn't handle always being 2nd (yes...we all know Roth is no picnic either, but Eddie should have found a way to work with the best, most charasmatic frontman in hardrock history) and we all know Eddie is a cry-baby and just fed the already burning fire between him and Roth, Hagar either left on his own or was dismissed by Eddie for who knows what reason. Eddie is just an absolute as*hole and it's now apparrent that he truly is the reason the band has had so much turmoil over the years. Besides, his musicianship is diminishing due to the substance abuse and everybody knows it. If the tour happens it needs to be with Roth...the band was special with Roth...VH owes us that magic again!
