Still Remains are hard at work recording their 2nd studio album, tentatively titled The Serpent, in Los Angeles with producer, Steve Evets (Story of the Year, He Is Legend, Saves the Day). Here's the latest update on their proigress from vocalist T.J. Miller:
"OK...here is what's going on: I'm totally freaking out. Listening back to these songs right now is so invigorating. Bone is finished on drums. Mike and Jordan are about 7 or 8 songs in. Mike and I just started working on some vocals last night...getting the levels right. Its all coming together so well.
"I just wanted to get everyone an update and let you know that all is well in the studio. We have been laying almost dormant from the public eye for so long and we can't wait to see everyone on the road again. Tour plans are in the works for this year, so stay tuned for more updates. See you soon."
Satyricon issued the following update:
"We have so much news for you on the new album in writing and many stories to tell from our visits to Australia and Japan. We'll fill you in on that later. Finally the necesarry permits and paperwork have been sorted on Frost's [drums] behalf and we are now ready to come over to America again. Seems like it will be a small run of three weeks starting with a few days in South America for the first time before we come over the U.S. This will most likely take place between mid-April and second week of May. We'll keep you posted of course."
Nonpoint has posted a quick update on the progress of the writing process for the bands newest album:
"well another week has gone by at combat zone studios and more songs have been written. so far the writing has been going amazing. the new spot that we found has been an inspiration in the song writing. we are pushing each other really hard in there. the results have been really encouraging."
"so as of now, 5 songs have been written. really cool vibe in the music and taking all the best elements of nonpoint and taking it it even further."
"we cannot wait to debut some of this stuff to you. i will be taking pictures this week so you can see the place and since 300 pics are allowed on myspace it is time to add new pictures up. i am hoping to get some video as well and we will be starting a you tube channel as well. stay tuned here for all things nonpoint."
"p.s. i would spill some titles but i want to make sure that all the titles are the final ones. maybe next week."
HellYeah are shooting their first video for their self-titled record this Sunday February 25th in The Clubhouse parking lot in Dallas Texas from 3-8. Vinny Paul comments: "We want it to be a good ol BBQ bash so if you got a bad ass truck or bike and you wanna show it off bring it to the shoot...also hot chicks are a must as no BBQ would be complete with out them."
HellYeah's self-titled debut will be released on April 10 via Epic Records.
Jesu are still stuck in England and will not be playing the Spaceland, L.A headline/release party. Work permits for Jesu have still not been cleared by U.S officials/customs and the band are not allowed into the U.S until the permits are officially cleared. The band are yet to receive a date of clearance and simply have to wait until they do so before entering the U.S, hence Jesu will not be appearing at any shows with ISIS until the permits are available and Jesu can leave England.
"Hopefully the band will not miss more than the first week of this tour, being the bands first tour of the U.S.," comments Hydrahead.
In related Jesu live line up news, Jesu bass player Diarmuid Dalton will not be playing any of the U.S dates due to being refused a work permit for the U.S for this tour. Diarmuid has been replaced for this tour by long time collaborator (and fellow Birmingham, England native) bass player Dave Cochrane (Justin and Dave played together in Head Of David, Sweet Tooth, Ice, God and now their new project together GREY MACHINE).
Drummer Ted Parsons has also been unable to make this first Jesu U.S tour due to family commitments and has been replaced by drummer Danny Walker, a Los Angeles native who plays for many bands including Intronaut.
Century Media recently signedBlessed By A Broken Heart, self proclaimed “super heroes destined to save the world from nuclear annihilation with the power of metal”.
BBABH hails from Montreal, Canada and released one album, “All is Fair In Love And War” on Blood & Ink Records in 2004. They did a few tours of North America with The Devil Wears Prada & A Day to Remember and played to sold out crowds in the UK with Enter Shakari. Upon returning home, they found themselves with offers from record labels shooting out of their collective arses. Comments the Bird:
“We have been searching for the right record label to release our next record for quite some now, and well CM and us was like a match made in heaven. The force is strong with Century media. I mean, they signed us without a singer, so they are obviously just as crazy as we are.
And speaking of…we found a new singer, his name is Tony Gambino, and yeah, his Great Uncle was Carlo Gambino (Google him), so don’t mess with us. Tony can do back flips and breakdance better then Turbo in Electric Boogaloo. We’re psyched to have him on board.”
BBABH will enter the studio with GGGGarth in mid March to record their debut record for Century Media, titled “You Wanted the Best, You Got The Blessed: Greatest Hits.” Their debut movie will be going direct to DVD in 2008.

The track comes off the group's second album, "Eryx", as due later in the year. Death metal stalwarts DEICIDE have confirmed March tour dates in Mexico and Costa Rica, despite current backlash from members of the Costa Rican churches and community surrounding the venue. Monsignor Jose Francisco Ulloa, president of the Episcopal Conference and bishop of Carthage, has openly spoken out against DEICIDE’S visit to Costa Rica and has called on the community to aid in shutting down the show. The monsignor stated on America Radio that “ We cannot admit a group like this to be allowed in communities as these. I believe that the town has the right to reject all that. I believe that as much the municipality, as well as other communal organizations, look at the 10 of March to be united in the movement to avoid that presentation that goes by that diabolic line.”
A few locals have replied to this call with thoughtful and open-minded remarks, confirming that it should be the right of organizers to put on whatever concerts they want to despite the artists’ ideology. Unscathed, promoters confirm that the show will go on and DEICIDE will come to Costa Rica after a string of dates in Mexico.

J.K. Broadrick triumphantly returns with his second, and quite appropriately titled, Jesu full-length (the follow-up to last year’s critically acclaimed Silver EP) due tomorrow on February 20. The Hydrahead releases states: "Packed with eight gorgeously hypnotic tracks in just over an hour, Conqueror exhales a dreamlike mist of weighty celestial ambience, underwater phantasms and slow-rolling nebulae, fomenting the kind of kaleidoscopic rapture—brimming with lush electronics, dulcet guitar textures, massive riffs, and lavish atmospheric hues—that makes us swear we’re on drugs."
You can check out the Conqueror e-card here.
You can pre-order the record here.
There is a feature article/interview with Justin Broadrick in the March issue of Decibel Magazine. Full tour of the United States with Isis, Torche and Zozobra starts next week. Currently confirmed Jesu tour dates follow: More...
DAYLIGHT DIES has checked in with an album update:
“Writing for the next Daylight Dies album has been underway since the end of our North American tour in November. We’ve got about two songs already and intend to continue focusing hard on writing in an attempt to be in the studio before the end of this year. It’s too early to tell where the album is headed, but the material thus far is as you’d expect - dark and dramatic.”More...
ALCHEMIST from down-under Australia will come back to Europe again and returns to ProgPower Europe to headline the event on Saturday, October 6. The band is really looking forward to this, their performance on ProgPower Europe 2004 was one of the highlights of their European trip. The band will do a European tour to promote the new album that will see daylight around August/September, it probably will be the only Dutch gig because the band wants to visit some other countries than they did last time.
Spanish newcomers NAHEMAH are also confirmed for ProgPower Europe 2007, the band also will play on the 6th as well. NAHEMAH recently impressed many people with their debut album “The Second Philosophy”, the band is compared to OPETH but with an own style.

DREADNAUGHT launched into 2007 supporting thrash legends Testament in Melbourne and Sydney and headlining the Perth leg of the 'Devils kitchen' festival.
The band are looking to take their sights further a field with vocalist Greg on a mission to Europe during March to set the wheels in motion for an assault on the northern hemisphere later in the year.
A new album also beckons with over half the tracks completed and early titles being BURIED, ADMIT DEFEAT, SLEEP THROUGH A HURRICANE and TWIST THE KNIFE as the band lean towards a heavier, more metallic sound for there as yet untiled next release.
Dave Marcovecchio doesn't care much for Avenged Sevenfold, and he's not all that jazzed about As I Lay Dying, Slipknot, From First to Last or Bullet for My Valentine, for that matter.
But the band Marcovecchio loves to hate more than any other is Florida metalcore outfit Trivium. And it's his Trivium odium that's helped the 18-year-old Brit become a YouTube phenomenon.
When Marcovecchio isn't in class studying music technology or working with his own band, Wargazm, the metalhead can usually be found at the nearest watering hole, rewriting the lyrics to songs by some of the bands he just can't stomach. When he's done, he turns to Windows Movie Maker and Photoshop to work on hilarious interpretive video creations that pair his made-up lyrics with images depicting them (like boats, coats and kids on bicycles).
"Me and my friend Ryan, we'd go down to the pub, get a bit wasted, and then come back and look up funny stuff on YouTube. There are lots of interpretations on there and we always found them funny," Marcovecchio explained. "But there were lots of ones that sucked, and they're all about emo songs. So we thought, 'We'll do one — a metal one — and show them how it's done.' "
The first song to get the Marcovecchio treatment was melodic death-metal outfit Kalmah's "Man of the King." Marcovecchio is a Kalmah fan, so the video was an homage to the band more than anything else. But it dawned on Marcovecchio that frontman Pekka Kokko's garbled growls were difficult to make out without a lyrics sheet. So Marcovecchio just wrote down what he heard.
"It was fun to do, and it got reasonably successful," he recalled. "So I made the Trivium one, and I didn't quite know what [image] to put over one bit of the song, so I said, 'Ah, these guys suck.' And more than 400,000 views later, here I am. It's sort of weird."
Marcovecchio's interpretation of Trivium's "Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr" has been viewed nearly half a million times, and has become the third-most-watched Trivium video on all of YouTube. In fact, if you type the band's name into the site's search engine, the first result is "Interpretation of Trivium" — Marcovecchio's clip. (Click here to watch Paranoidave's Trivium spoof.)
But while some people are impressed and amused by his work, Marcovecchio has also received death threats. "It's hilarious," he said. "They usually fall into one of three categories: There's the 'I agree with Paranoidave, this is fantastic,' or, 'I'm a Trivium fan, but I like this anyway' or 'I'm a Trivium fan, and I'm going to f---ing kill you.'
"Allegedly, the band are big fans of it," he continued. "There's even a picture of all four of them holding signs that say 'Boat,' 'Rudder,' 'Strange' and 'Mountain' " — the lyrics Marcovecchio created for the song. "I have no idea what some of these bands are saying. To this day, I have no clue what the lyrics for From First to Last's 'Ride the Wings of Pestilence' are, and I don't want to know."

Launch Radio Networks reports: A collaboration between members of TOOL and NINE INCH NAILS, plus recordings by GREEN DAY, WEEZER, BECK and RADIOHEAD, lead a list of "lost" albums and songs published by RollingStone.com on Friday (February 9). Topping the list is TAPEWORM, a project started by TOOL singer Maynard James Keenan and NINE INCH NAILS main man Trent Reznor that was in the works for six years but ultimately laid to rest in 2004. Demos of the songs exist, and different versions of some of them showed up on the soundtrack of the movie "Underworld" under the name PUSCIFIER.
