Pit Stories: Punching The Wrong Guy
We've got another Pit Story for you metal heads, this time from the glory of European summer festival season! Drummer Pontus Jordan from classic hard rocking outfit Horisont shares a tale this week of that one guy every big show seems to have: the one who is too drunk and has to get in everyone's way.
This time around things a got little out of hand when a case of mistaken identity led to the wrong person getting punched. Pontus had this to say:
This summer we've been playing some festivals around Europe and during one of these festival gigs there was a really stupid guy who was being a jerk against the rest of the crowd and us in the band. He kept screaming insulting stuff and throwing beer at everyone in his way. Halfway through the set Axel (our singer) got fed up and gave the guy a push and told him to leave if he couldn’t behave. This didn’t sit well at all with this guy but after a while he left and we continued to play.
After the show we exited the stage through a side door, leading us out to the festival site. Who do think was standing there all ready to fight? The problem was that he was so drunk that he got Tom and Axel mixed up. So instead of “getting back” at Axel he gave poor Tom real good punch square in the face!
A bit of a ruckus exploded until out of nowhere this small and deadly fast guy jumped in out of nowhere. He gave the “I can’t behave at concerts when I drink guy” a hook Mike Tyson style. You could literary hear his nose break. Needless to say the fight was over and we had a fan that could pack a punch and did not tolerate idiot behaviour like that guy was showing. Tom got away with a sore face and all and all it was a good gig.
Horisont is currently out on the road with Kadavar, The Shrine, and Satan's Satyrs, with full details available at the band's Facebook profile here. New album "Odyssey" just dropped back in September and a video clip off that release is available below. More...

Zephaniah Releasing "Reforged" Album
"Reforged," the sophomore outing from Indiana’s Zephaniah, builds upon the power thrash foundation laid by 2008 debut "Stories From The Book Of Metal," to unleash a catchier and more dynamic intensity - made possible through the refined musicianship of the group’s new, markedly more diverse lineup
Unlike "Stories From The Book Of Metal," which was tracked in a mere week, the band spent more than a full year arduously self-producing every last detail of "Reforged." Finally mixed by Tom Buechel and mastered by Death Dealer guitarist Stu Marshall in May of 2015, Zephaniah is now prepared to deliver a raging, filler-free collection in which no two songs are alike.
"Reforged" sees release on February 12, 2016 and one advance track is now online below. The full track listing is as follows:

2. Destiny
3. Mad Max
4. Road Warrior

Skeletonwitch Demoing New Material
Skeletonwitch will join the Decibel Magazine tour next year alongside Abbath, High On Fire, and Tribulation. Today Skeletonwitch guitarist Scott Hedrick took a break from demoing new material to provide the following update:
“Cheers everyone! We are proud to announce that we will be a part of the mighty Decibel Tour. They had us at Abbath, then tripled the ante with High on Fire and Tribulation! All three artists are in my personal top tier of heavy music.
"Definitely going to have some embarrassing ‘fan moments’ on this one. Just ask Matt Pike – as an overly excited teenager, I punished him with a game of 20 Questions when I saw them on their first U.S. tour. He still regrets giving me his phone number! New tunes, new singer, new tour, new chapter for Skeletonwitch. Looking forward to seeing you all out on the road.” More...
Fucking Invincible Posts "Cross-Uncross"
"Cross-Uncross," the rampaging lead track to Fucking Invincible's incoming "I Hate Myself And Want You To Die" EP, has been let off the chain and can be heard below.
A conglomerate of Providence-based assassins previously/currently hailing from the likes of Dropdead, Daughters, Soul Control, Sweet Jesus and other acts, Fucking Invincible delivers another merciless auditory beating with "I Hate Myself And Want You To Die."
Cranking out eight songs in seven minutes, the band's calculated, cynical and ultra-pissed hardcore/powerviolence attack is as caustic and as malicious as ever. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Will Killingsworth at Dead Air, the EP is completed with cover art by Dean Forsythe II. More...

Blood Red Saints Releasing Debut Album
Blood Red Saints came together at the end of 2014 by singer Pete Godfrey and bassist Rob Naylor. The search for a name ended with the chance discovery of a semi legendary Speedway team “The Blood Red Saints” formed in the late 1920s in Brooklyn, New York. Leader Freddie Rendetti became synonymous with the team, a fiery and colorful character who ultimately lived the fast life a little too fast.
No history of the Blood Red Saints can be complete without the inclusion of James Martin of Vega. James was instrumental in getting the band signed to Frontiers and – together with his twin brother Tom, he also co-wrote two songs on the album. Harry Hess from Harem Scarem took care of the mastering of the album.
The Blood Red Saints lineup is completed by former In Faith member, Pete Newdeck (Eden’s Curse and currently the vocalist for Tainted Nation) on drums and Lee Revill on guitar (Gary Hughes).
The band’s debut album "Speedway" is a slice of classic British AOR / metal, following in the traditions of early Dare, FM and Newman. The track listing is as follows: More...

“The track ‘Towards the Light’ was chosen because of its importance to the band, since it is our oldest song on the album. We didn't want to make a traditional music video, so we focused on the plot and atmosphere instead. The video features Finnish actress Veera W. Vilo, whose credits include playing a villain in the B horror movie 'Bunny The Killer Thing,' and of course our singer Sini. The video was produced by Mad Motion Pictures in Finland.” More...

Tool Announces U.S. Tour Dates
Maybe that sporadically hinted but never confirmed Tool album is actually happening?
The band has now revealed via Facebook that Tool is gearing up to hit the road again in early January - perhaps this time supporting new music?
Tickets go on sale on Friday, with full date and venue details available below. The band had also enigmatically posted this message just before revealing the dates:
"SOMETHING WICKED THIS... YOUR WAY COMES! For those of you who only like NEWS about TOOL, here's something that should be of great interest. The impenetrable veil of my dark scrying mirror FINALLY CLEARED today - enough so, in fact - that I could perceive a large heptagram on a complexly lit stage where four performers were dwarfed by dramatic video projections.
"Evidently the sonic and visual extravaganza that I was receiving is a rare glimpse of FUTURE TOOL U.S.A. TOUR DATES in the month of JANUARY, 2016 e.v. However, with some of the images in the depths of the black glass not being clearly distinct... YET, fans will have to keep checking back for an official announcement.
"Regarding an opening band(s), what I was able to discern through the ever-shifting veil will in all likeliness be exciting to many Tool enthusiasts. STAY TUNED, FOLKS... as my trusty SCRYING MIRROR CONTINUES TO CLEAR..."

Slomatics Premieres Debut Album's Re-Issue
Now signed to Black Bow Records, Slomatics has a new disc of epic sludgy doom coming your way in the spring of 2016. Before that upcoming album lands, the Irish group is re-releasing earlier material to the metal masses who may have missed those smaller scale releases when they first dropped.
Before the band had recruited current drummer / vocalist Marty, Slomatics focused more on the instrumental aspects with debut full-length "Flooding the Weir" all the way back in 2005. The re-issue version of that album is slated to land this Friday, November 20 via Black Bow, but today we're hosting a stream of the release in full!
Label owner Jon Davis (also of doom band Conan) comments on the group's first full-length: "This is the album that started my obsession with Slomatics back in 2005. I listen to this album at least once a day."

Hail Mary To Feature Ex-Overkill/Raven Members
Hail Mary is a project and the brainchild of Bobby Gustafson, formed for the purpose of writing, recording and releasing a single tentatively titled "To Hell and Back" with 100% of proceeds going to The Cheri Pogue Medical Fund.
On July 11, 2015 Cheri (Goodale) Pogue was enjoying a charity motorcycle ride with her husband, Steve Pogue (guitarist of Infectus 13) and friends, when tragedy struck. Cheri was involved in an accident that severed her left foot. Eventually, her left leg was amputated below the knee.
Explains Bobby Gustafson: "I have gotten to know Steve and Cheri through Sid, and it absolutely broke my heart what happened to Cheri. Over the years, Sid and I have entertained the idea of doing something together again, but since we have both been busy with our own respective projects, the time was never right. However, I thought about it and felt.. What could possibly be more special than to collaborate again on something that could help someone who has always been the first to help others? So I contacted Sid and told him what I wanted to do, and when the conversation came to whom else to ask, John's name was the first that came to mind. Not only is John a pioneer in the NWOBHM, he is also a former label mate, and an extremely talented musician and song writer, so we contacted John, and he committed as soon as he heard why we wanted to do this "
John Gallagher adds: "I've known Sid since his Battlezone days... We did a blues session back in the 90's causing the producer much consternation by playing Rainbow songs! When he approached me for this project I immediately wanted in as it's for a damn good cause... And with Bobby on board it's gonna kick Ass! "
The plan is for everyone involved; from recording studios/ mixing/mastering etc, to donate their services, so that 100% of sales will go to Cheri's medical fund.
Writing is scheduled to begin in November 2015, with a tentative early 2016 release date. More...
Talamyus Signs To Deathbound Records
Deathbound Records is proud to announce the signing of Montreal viking horde Talamyus.
Formed in 2002 by brothers Benoit and Dany St-Jean, the band has vowed to bring the viking metal sound to a Montreal scene where it was all but absent. With three solid albums under it's belt, Talamyus combines the epic atmosphere of Amon Amarth, the melody of Iron Maiden and the thrashing power of Kreator. Talamyus infuses old school riffs with modern ferocity and edge.
The band has played support slots and toured alongside the likes of Moonsorrow, Augury, Kataklysm, Tyr, Destruction and 1349 just to name a few. The band has added depth to their lineup with the addition of Étienne Gallo (Augury, Catuvolcus, Hands of Despair, ex-Aborted) on drums.
With this new solidified personnel, the band is now preparing to release the fourth full-length album, "Honour is our Pride, Death is the Reward" through Deathbound Records. Mixing in new influences like Dissection and Enslaved, it will carry a stylistic shift from death/thrash metal to melodic black metal, all while retaining the familiar viking flavor.
"We are sure old and new Talamyus fans will be pleased with the direction we have chosen to take for the next album", comments guitarist/vocalist and co-founder Benoît St-Jean. "It will still have the Talamyus feel, but with an altered atmosphere. We are very eager to share it with you all!"
The first single for their upcoming album will be release soon. Stay tuned for more information. More...
