Bloodclot Signs With Metal Blade

Bloodclot (featuring current and former members of the Cro-Mags, Queens of the Stone Age, Danzig) just signed a worldwide deal with Metal Blade Records.

While being the leader of one of the most influential hardcore bands of all time - the Cro-Mags - John Joseph is also an author, an outspoken advocate of plant-based nutrition, and a competitive Ironman tri-athlete.

Todd Youth - who played in Agnostic Front at the age of 12 - has played guitar with a myriad of artists, including Danzig, Glen Campbell, Motorhead, Ace Frehley, and many more. Additionally, Nick Oliveri has played bass in Queens of the Stone Age, alongside one of the most sought-after drummers in the scene, Joey Castillo - who has also sat behind the kit for Danzig and Eagles Of Death Metal.

These four renowned musicians came together when Cro-Mags guitarist AJ Novello was unable to play a show, and John Joseph called Todd Youth to fill-in for him. The two rekindled their friendship and enjoyed playing together so much that a decision was made to re-form Bloodclot (whose origins date back to a 1981 Bad Brains tour). Todd began the songwriting process, and soon after, Joey Castillo and Nick Oliveri were recruited to join the band. More...

Superjoint Posts New Video

This past Friday, Superjoint unleashed the debauched "Caught Up In The Gears Of Application" full-length album (still streaming in full here).

The band's first proper studio offering in over a decade, the thirty-eight-minute punisher spews forth an acrimonious crossover of hardcore punk, metal, and uncompromising, antagonistic, New Orleans-style angst (check out our review).

A new video for "Caught Up In The Gears Of Application" was captured at various locations in Louisiana including the historic district of Old Kenner, the Blue Nile in New Orleans, and the Housecore compound.

The clip was directed by Kate Richardson courtesy of Housecore Records, and shot and edited by Mike Holderbeast with production by Carolyn Babauta. Elaborates Superjoint's Philip H. Anselmo cryptically, "The video is supposed to be as ridiculously abstract as the song itself. But regardless, it makes its ridiculous point(s) dreadfully well." More...

Following a previous music video for "Penny Dreadful," oday the band streams new song "Pandemonium," which can be heard below. Band founder and vocalist Lucas Di Mascio comments:

"'Pandemonium' is a track that hearkens back to our love of classic metal and its connection to mysticism and horror. Influenced lyrically by John Milton's Paradise Lost and its tragic depiction of Lucifer, the song plays on how fear can change one's perception of the world and if that fear is not kept in check, it can have dire consequences." Candiria Releases New Video

Candiria just released a video for "The Whole World Will Burn," which is taken from the band's new record, "While They Were Sleeping" (out now via Metal Blade Records).

"While They Were Sleeping" is a concept album conceived by the band's lead vocalist Carley Coma that tells the tale of a failed musician who rises up against a monarchy in New York City. "The Whole World Will Burn" was filmed by Metal Injection's Frank Godla.

"Growing up in the music scene of Brooklyn, New York throughout the '90s, Candiria have always held a special place in my heart as hometown heroes, and continue to today," Godla comments. "Beyond their amazing talents as musicians and songwriters, they're a band that inspires change, promotes acceptance, conquers barriers, and are some of the nicest guys I've ever had the pleasure of calling friends. It's an honor and a privilege to work with them once again, in the form of a music video shot during their Five-Borough Tour. The run was truly something special to watch as a longtime fan from NYC, and creating it was as easy as watching them play five shows in a row...something I don't mind doing every day!" More...

Lost 1996 Scum Album To See Release

Blood Music is extremely proud to present to its roster a one-of-a-kind release by the forgotten classic Finnish death metal outfit Scum.

Hailing from Parikkala (eastern Finland), this obscure five-piece formed in 1990 – at the onset of Finnish death metal, and quickly landed a spot on Quorthon (Bathory)'s Black Mark Production label.

Scum debuted with two back-to-back albums in the mid-90s. The first was a solid straight-up doom/death metal effort titled “Mother Nature” (1994). The second release took the music in a decidedly more psychedelic manner, and was unleashed as “Purple Dreams & Magic Poems” (1995).

Being overshadowed by renowned Swedish death metal outfits on the same label (Edge of Sanity / Necrophobic) and interesting bands at home (Amorphis / Demigod), Scum unfortunately failed to reach its intended audience at the time. In 1996, Scum recorded final album, titled “Garden of Shadows.” After sending in to Quorthon to release, Scum never heard from the label again. The band broke up soon after, and the album was cast aside, in a drawer, never to be heard.

After nearly three years(!) of negotiations, the band was finally encouraged to send the original master of the album to Blood Music. This is a first time publication of a classic death metal album that has never been heard before!

Scum included the original artwork (in physical form), as well as original photos from the era. These assets have been used to authentically recreate the entire package as it was originally intended and envisioned. Since the album was completed in 1996 and slated for release then, the label and band made the collective decision to release “Garden of Shadows” in 2016, on the 20th anniversary of never being heard. Primordial Streaming Live Track

Irish pagan metal outfit Primordial will release a first live album in the band's history, "Gods To The Godless (Live at Bang Your Head Festival Germany 2015)," on November 25th via Metal Blade Records.

Check out the live version of "Wield Lightning To Split The Sun" below as an advance taste of the release. Pre-orders in various formats are still available here. Primordial's A.A. Nemtheanga comments:

"It might seem like an unusual move, a double live album. Especially within the scene we are from, but the live album was once a staple of most bands' careers and something we all grew up with in our collection. Pouring over tour dates, gear information and killer live pics. Ok so it's not 'Live After Death' but you can see the attraction and taste the romance involved, right?

"Fact is though we hadn't planned it, it was basically a happy coincidence, the good people at Bang Your head who took such a risk booking us the first time on a more traditional old school rock festival had us back for the fourth time, gave us a proper headlining set length and happened to mention afterwards that they had a mobile recording device rigged up and ready to go. When we listened back to the tapes we found something we could work with and the idea took shape. If you love the band, you will know what to expect: blood, guts and passion - and believe us, the double vinyl will look beautiful! More...

Firewind Signs With AFM Records, Details New Album

Greek based power metal act Firewind signed on with AFM Records for the release of the new album "Immortals," which will be released on January 20th, 2017 via AFM Records in North America and Century Media Records in Europe. The album is the first to feature vocalist Henning Basse (MaYaN).

Gus G. checked in to comment about “Immortals” and its artwork (which can be seen below) as follows: “Today we're very happy to reveal the cover artwork for our 8th studio album. It's titled "Immortals" and it's the first concept album Firewind has ever made. Since we're from Greece, we thought it would be a cool idea to make a concept of Greek history and heritage. So, on this album we focused on the legendary battles of Thermopylae and Salamis during the 2nd Persian invasion of Greece in 480 BC. The artwork was once again created by our longtime collaborator, Gustavo Sazes and we feel it reflects the vibe we tried to capture on this album - Epic, Powerful, Glorious, Everlasting.”

“Immortals” marks the first time Firewind used an outside co-producer, working with Dennis Ward (Unisonic, Pink Cream 69), who not only engineered, mixed and mastered the album, but also co-wrote it together with Gus G. The album’s track listing reads as follows:

Nuclear Blast is pleased to announce the release of Black Star Riders third studio album, “Heavy Fire," on January 27th. The band will support the album with a full UK and Eire tour in March 2017. The band also issued a lyric video for the new song "When the Night Comes In," which can be viewed in the player below. Pre-orders can be made at this location.

The band previous album, "The Killer Instinct," was released in 2015 to widespread critical acclaim and went on to score multiple radio playlists. A solid year of worldwide touring culminated in December 2015 in an UK arena tour alongside Def Leppard and Whitesnake.

2016 saw the band return to the studio with “The Killer Instinct’s” producer Nick Raskulinecz (Rush, The Foo Fighters, Mastodon), at his studio just outside Nashville. The resultant album is Black Star Riders most accomplished work to date. From the immediate riffs of album opener “Heavy Fire” to the instant hooks of first single “When The Night Comes In," from the dirty bass groove of "Thinking About You Could Get Me Killed" to the familiar and trademark dual guitars of Gorham and Johnson on "Testify Or Say Goodbye," this is an album that will further cement BSR’s reputation as one of the world premiere rock acts.

"Angst, passion, power, glory, love, truth, lies, loyalty, questions that begged to be answered. There's a guitar army coming…and it's bringing the 'Heavy Fire'" – Ricky Warwick (vocals), Black Star Riders.

"Not many new bands get to record three albums these days. Without doubt this is BSR'S best album so far. We had a great time recording it and can't wait to play the new songs live on tour in March." – Scott Gorham (guitars), Black Star Riders More...
