Reckless Love Covers Ozzy Osbourne Classic
Finland's sleaze rock kings Reckless Love, who are currently gearing up for the release of their much awaited, forthcoming album "Turborider," have announced re-scheduled dates for their European tour and shared a brand new single; a cracking cover version of Ozzy Osbourne's "Bark At The Moon!" The band's fifth studio album will drop on March 25, 2022 and will be available as CD, LP, special box set and Digital formats through AFM Records.
"We had never thought of covering Ozzy’s iconic track 'Bark at the Moon' until we started talking about the great covers in rock and metal history with our producer Joonas Parkkonen." Vocalist Olli Herman reveals. "I mentioned to him that we had not done a full blown cover ever before, because we had not found the perfect song yet. Joonas then came up with the idea of covering this Ozzy classic, which felt like a daunting – almost impossible suicide mission of a task at first. I mean, there is no way we could’ve made it any better than the original. Ozzy’s version is perfect!
"However, Joonas had a clear vision what to do with the track and pretty soon after we tried out his arrangement ideas, we were high fiving each other in the studio. We realized we were not even supposed to try and improve the song. We just had to make a different version of it. So much so, that it’s interesting and new, but still recognizeable. The guitar track was kept like the original, nearly note for note. Seemed like a no brainer since Jake E. Lee’s original is such a difining guitar track of it’s time and the most recognizeable part of the song. However, we introduced some Turborider-esque electric drumming for the rhythm section and synthesizers for the riff. We also raised the tempo of the track a little to make it feel more energetic than the original. To top it all off we gave it a true Reckless Love treatment with the vocal harmonies in the chorus. Even as an Ozzy-fan, I must say we totally nailed it and we managed to honor the spirit of the original perfectly." More...

"'Black Clad' was written as both a tribute to the Norse god of poetry Brage, but also as a tribute to fans of metal. The fans that support the scene and who will be the backbone of the live metal scene post-pandemic. Hail Brage! Hail Metal!"

Buried Realm To Release New Album In June
Hailing from Colorado Springs, USA, Buried Realm is the one-man project of Josh Dummer who enlists the help of prominent musicians from around the world to bolster his already impressive songwriting and performance. Having released two albums already, "Embodiment of the Divine" (2020) and "The Ichor Carcinoma" (2017) he is gearing up to release a third, a self-titled full-length with a well-rounded group of well-known guests. The first single out will be "Spectral Light" featuring Dean Arnold (Primalfrost, ex-Vital Remains) who has appeared on both of the previous albums. Dummer gives some insight into the track:
"One of the faster songs on the album, 'Spectral Light' carries fun, intertwining leads/ melodies and non-stop, in-your-face vocals. The lyrics are mostly inspired by disturbing horror stories of possession and exploring the dark side of one's mind."
Taking influence from Swedish melodic death metal greats such as Opeth, Soilwork, and Scar Symmetry, listeners can expect to be confronted with a wall of riffs, wailing solos, and insane drumming. The album has its traditional arrangements at times but is also built on technical and chaotic grounds. Having opened up to the creativity of other musicians, “Buried Realm” is a decisive and original composition.
The nine-track album comes in at 38 minutes and is a ride of metal craftsmanship all the way through. It features other guests including Bob Katsionis and Christofer Malmström. Buried Realm is the result of Dummer always wanting to release a solo album and after working with many great musicians he intends to keep going as long as possible. The record will be released on June 3rd. More...
Mortemia Shares Collaboration With Metalite Singer
Morten Veland (Sirenia, Mortemia and founder of Tristania) has released the 8th Mortemia song from "The Pandemic Pandemonium Sessions." The track features Erica Ohlsson (Metalite) on guest vocals, and is due for release today, on the 4th of March 2022 via all digital platforms. The track is entitled "Lost Horizon" and can be heard below.
Morten Veland:
"I am proud and honoured to introduce Erica Ohlsson from Metalite as my special guest for ‘The Pandemic Pandemonium Sessions’. The eight song is entitled ‘Lost Horizon’, and is now available on all digital platforms.
"When I first started working on this project I was spending quite a lot of time looking for bands in the genre that was new to me. I was curious what was going on in the scene, and I finally had the time to update myself. One of the bands that I discovered early on was Metalite, I really liked their modern and catchy style of metal, and I was instantly blown away by Erica's amazing voice. I feel truly privileged and thankful to have Erica on board this project, and I am really looking forward to sharing this song with you all. This song is more of an uptempo song, I find it very powerful, atmospheric and catchy."
Erica Ohlsson adds:
"I got the question to record the clean vocals for Morten Velands (Sirenia) studio project Mortemia. The song sounded very modern, melodic with a lot of energy, I liked it a lot so of course I wanted to join. With help from my Metalite colleague Edwin we recorded it and we are really happy about the result! It sounds awesome! Hope you like it as much as I do." More...
