Before The Dawn To Release First Album In 10 Years
Napalm Records proudly announces the signing of Finnish melodic death metal band Before The Dawn! Formed in 1999, chart-cracking Before The Dawn reigned as one of the most successful Finnish metal bands of the early 2000’s, and since their burial in 2013, hundreds of thousands of new fans have discovered their music on streaming platforms, entirely without promotion or labels involved. Did the music find the people, or the people find the music - one can’t be sure, but after being inactive for almost a decade, Before The Dawn now returns stronger than ever!
Before The Dawn are currently back in the studio and ready to take to stages with a brand new lineup. The band originated as Finnish Metal Award winning Tuomas Saukkonen’s (Wolfheart) solo project, but throughout the years, there have been several lineup changes. With the new exciting lineup, the band introduces its biggest changes so far. Previous guitarist and vocalist Saukkonen has moved behind the drums, and talented Voice Of Finland 2022 finalist Paavo Laapotti has taken on all vocalist duties. The Finns have fully transformed into their new power and are ready to reconquer the scene!
Sebastian Münch, A&R, Napalm Records states:
"Tuomas Saukkonen and I have been working together with Wolfheart for a couple years now and from time to time we talked about bringing Before The Dawn back.
"Last year, when the band released the single 'The Final Storm', I was absolutely amazed by how good the new song turned out. Now being part of releasing a new full length studio album, and it being the first one in over a decade, is a great honor!"
Tuomas Saukkonen comments on the signing:
"One cornerstone of the Before The Dawn comeback plan and fundamental criteria was that we needed to find strong enough partners, in addition to our long time Fin label Stay Heavy Records, that will raise the band to a whole new level after a decade of slumber. We could not be happier about the newly signed contract with the mighty Napalm Records and we are absolutely ecstatic for the fact that the new Before The Dawn album will be in the best possible hands when it sees the light of the day worldwide in 2023."

But since we did not want to simply let the band fall apart, we decided to end Dark Fortress with a bang, properly and in dignity, something that we owe not only to our fans and to all the people who have supported us for over two decades, but something that we also owe to ourselves.

Metallica Announces New Album And World Tour
American metal superstars Metallica has revealed that they will be releasing a brand new studio album entitled, "72 Seasons," their first since 2016's, "Hardwired... To Self Destruct." The new album will be released on April 14th 2023 via the band's own Blackened Records. In addition to this, the band has premiered a music video for the album's first single, "Lux Æterna," which can be viewed below.
In addition to this, the band has announced the "M72 World Tour," which will see the band perform two nights in each city, in what is being dubbed "No Repeat Weekend." As expected by the title, each night will feature a different setlist, as well as different opening bands as Pantera and Mammoth WVH will open the first night, while Five Finger Death Punch and Ice Nine Kills will provide support on the second. You can see the tour dates below.
Says Metallica: "Yes, you read that correctly... we have completed recording at HQ, and our 12th studio album is coming your way! It’s been six years since Hardwired…To Self Destruct, so we think it’s about time for some new music. With 12 tracks totaling over 77 minutes, 72 Seasons hits all the places you can consume music on Friday, April 14, 2023.
"Produced by Greg Fidelman, along with James and Lars, 72 Seasons is available for pre-order now on CD, 2LP 140g black vinyl, two different colored vinyl variations, and digitally in the Met Store. Every pre-order will receive a digital instant grat track of the first song we are releasing, “Lux Æterna,” and you can check out the brand new video, one of the coolest we’ve ever made, on our YouTube channel. Directed by Tim Saccenti, we recently traveled to Los Angeles to capture our performance using some crazy cutting-edge technology.
"The album package was once again conceived and art directed by our good friend, acclaimed designer David Turner, and his team. David, who won a Grammy for his work on Death Magnetic, is the man behind the look and feel of all of our recent releases, including Through The Never, S&M2, and Hardwired.
"Is there a special meaning to the title?” you ask. James explains it best: “72 seasons. The first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false selves. The concept that we were told ‘who we are’ by our parents. A possible pigeonholing around what kind of personality we are. I think the most interesting part of this is the continued study of those core beliefs and how it affects our perception of the world today. Much of our adult experience is reenactment or reaction to these childhood experiences. Prisoners of childhood or breaking free of those bondages we carry." More...

Hydrogyn Calls It A Day
2003 was a special year. That September, the band that came to be known as Hydrogyn was born, featuring Jeff Westlake and Jeff Boggs on guitar, Jason Fields on bass and Jerry Lawson on drums.
In January 2004, the band found vocalist Julie Eplion. From there, things officially were off and running. From then until March 2005, Hydrogyn toured, recorded and partnered with such heavy-hitters as Pepsi , Budweiser and Off The Rim apparel company. Those connections and the band’s ever-growing profile led to working with world-renowned producer Michael Wagener. That relationship turned out the worldwide success of sophomore release, Bombshell, in 2006.
The band followed up with a live recording from the successful tour they had been on since Fall 2005. They went back in the studio in January 2008 to again turn out the highly acclaimed Deadly Passions. The band went on to record 10 albums.
Julie left in 2014, and Erica Parrott came in for Redemption. The very modern heavy-hitting opus saw the nucleus of Westlake, Boggs and Chris Sammons back together along with John Cardilino on drums.
When the pandemic struck in 2020, the band welcomed new faces and voices around Westlake. Those changes brought in the vocalist he had wanted for some time: Holly Hines Freed. She came on board along with her husband Jacob on bass, drummer Scot Clayton II and Ryan Stepp on guitar. That line-up put out The Boiling Point.
Having been plagued by a string of health issues, Holly was sidelined from the band for the past year. With her health being the most important thing, Westlake has decided to put Hydrogyn to bed. After 18 years, he says it is time to say goodbye.
However, Hydrogyn is not going out without a final shot or two. More...

Holy Moses Announces Final Album And Tour Dates
2023 will mark the final chapter in the long history of Germany’s legendary Thrash Metal act Holy Moses, celebrated with the bands upcoming new studio album "Invisible Queen" and a last run of live shows. “I joined Holy Moses in December 1981 and that profoundly changed the path I was meant to take in life. Our first album in 1986 was called 'Queen Of Siam' and now to round things off, my final album with Holy Moses in 2023 will carry the title 'Invisible Queen'," reveals vocalist Sabina Classen and adds: "After 42 eventful years and after so many awesome albums, fantastic shows and incredible experiences, the time to write the last chapter of Holy Moses has arrived. And we are pleased to see this happen via Fireflash Records with the release of our 12th studio album 'Invisible Queen.'"
Holy Moses are a household name within the international metal scene. Their multi-faceted thrash metal, front-woman Sabina Classen’s charismatic voice and their unique mix of traditional attitude and experimental evolvement have been instrumental in establishing the band as a well-known and reliable entity since the beginning of their career in the early 1980’s. With classics like "Finished With The Dogs" (1987), "The New Machine Of Liechtenstein" (1989), "World Chaos" (1990) or "Terminal Terror" (1991), Holy Moses wrote metal history.
“Throughout the year 2023 we will be busy promoting "Invisible Queen" and playing a last run of shows with full intensity. We look forward to seeing you join the ride”, comments Sabina Classen, who just finished the recordings of their upcoming and final studio record. "Invisible Queen" is set to be released on April, 14th 2023 via Fireflash Records and distributed worldwide by Warner/ADA.
"Holy Moses have never released standard thrash songs, and we never will," Sabina Classen explains with some pride. "We write songs which we like ourselves and don’t compromise in terms of trends and concessions to wrong expectations. We don’t have to please everybody, we’re our own brand, we have our own sound, which includes the occasional odd beat, technically demanding passages and unusual chord structures as well as interesting lyrics which deal with the dark side of people and their minds."
