Interview with haarp Part 1
haarp (spelled with two a's, all lowercase, get it right!) is one of New Orleans' fastest-rising straight-up metal bands. With the support of their label Houscore Records and it's owner Philip Anselmo, they've got the go ahead to spread their metal to the masses. The band consists of vocalist Shaun, bassist Ryan, guitarist Grant, and drummer Keith. I had a chance to speak with haarp just before their show in Metiarie, Louisiana to discuess their debut full-length album soon to be released, what it's like to have Philip Anselmo as a boss, and Shaun's strange "stage" presence. Adrift For Days Streaming Two Songs From New Album
Sydney based stoner doom act Adrift For Days is set to release the band's debut album "The Lunar Maria" on August 5th, 2010. The band is now streaming two tracks from the upcoming 75 minute album online. The songs "Bury All That's Chosen" and "The Leech" are available via the Adrift For Days MySpace page.
In Loving Memory Checks In With Studio Update
Spain's doom/death metal act In Loving Memory has checked in with the following brief update from the recording studio: "Hi! Next studio update. All the instruments and voices are now recorded, so the mixing process has just started. Hopefully soon we'll have the first cuts." Goat Perversor Streaming Live Songs

Bruce Lamont To Release New Solo Album
At A Loss Recordings confirms this week that the label will be releasing the upcoming solo full-length album from Bruce Lamont of Yakuza. The record is planned for a mid-fall release, with more details on the actual album to be unveiled in the coming weeks.
Most widely recognized for his saxophone and vocal work fronting Chicago act Yakuza, Bruce Lamont has also contributed to a plethora of other projects including Bloodiest (featuring members of 90 Day Men, Sterling), Circle of Animals (with Sanford Parker, Minsk/The High Confessions), Decayist (with Blake Judd, Nachtmystium/Twilight), Sick Gazelle (with Eric Block and Sanford Parker) among others. He's also recorded with Sigh, East West Blast Test, Minsk, Nachtmystium, Rabid Rabbit, Poison Arrows, Sectara, Brutal Truth, Hex Machine and more.

The Acacia Strain Comments On Album Positions
The Acacia Strain's new album "Wormwood," which was released last Tuesday July 20th, has charted at #67 on the US Billboard Top 200 chart, with 6,466 units sold, according to Nielsen Soundscan. This is the highest debut, in both chart position and number sold, in the band's five-album, 10-year-plus career. The album is also ranked at #66 on the Top Current Albums Chart and #8 on the Hard Rock Chart.
Front man Vincent Bennett commented; "We couldn't be happier about the reaction 'Wormwood' has been getting. We didn't know how it would go over and so far the feedback has been awesome! We appreciate the support of our fans helping us to get the word out and be a part of this record. Thanks for the support!"
The Acacia Strain is currently on the "Cool Tour" along with As I Lay Dying, Underoath, Between the Buried And Me, Blessthefall, Architects, Cancer Bats and War of Ages.
Chimaira Announces "Coming Alive" Chart Position
Cleveland, Ohio's Chimaira has announced the band's new CD/DVD set "Coming Alive" debuted at #4 on the SoundScan charts. "Coming Alive" includes a four-part documentary filmed over the course of a year and a half while the entire package includes over 7 hours of exclusive content. The DVD, filmed entirely in HD, showcases Chimaira in the studio while recording "The Infection," and chronicles their recent, worldwide touring season.
Bonus features on the DVD include a 45 minute "Making of" documentary, a 40 minute home-video footage documentary of never before seen moments, and a live CD featuring 17 tracks recorded at Chimaira’s December 30th Christmas show. The track listing is as follows:

Guitarist/vocalist Nicolao Dos Santos of Germany's Hadean has checked in with the following update about streaming new samples online from the band's debut album:

Rob Zombie Song "What?" To Appear On True Blood
Roadrunner Records has announced that Rob Zombie's song "What?" off the "Hellbilly Deluxe 2" album will be making it's TV debut on HBO this Sunday on True Blood. An expanded special edition of "Hellbilly Deluxe 2" was also recently announced, which is currently set for a September 28th, 2010 release. The new version will feature three new songs, an extra DVD, and new artwork.
Assassin Members To Perform With Raging Mob
German thrash act Assassin has issued the following announcement about performing alongside Robert Gonnella's other project Raging Mob at the Wacken Open Air Festival due to travel issues:
"Raging Mob in Wacken 2010 - Wet Stage on 5th of August. Robert will play a show in Wacken 2010 with his Chinese project Raging Mob. Now some of the Chinese band members couldn't come to Germany and we have to help out."

Diabolical Announces Swedish Show
Diabolical has issued the following update about performing a show in Sweden on September 25th:

Portland, Orgeon's DarkBlack has checked in with the following announcement about recording new material the band's original drummer:
"Dudes, Carl the LA Gear (our original drummer) came up from Los Angeles last weekend to play one power mean set with us and then recorded three tracks for our next EP. Burritos were eaten and drums were raged upon. You'll get to hear it soon... sooner still if you've got a record label that wants to give some cool dudes a break. Anyway, carl rules. Later."

Singapore thrash act Xanadoo has posted several tour documentary videos online, which can be viewed below. The band also commented on the footage:
"Alright so we filmed most of our May 2010 European adventure and put together a little 'documentary' for everyone. It was really difficult trying to condense 2 weeks worth of footage into a short little clip (by short I mean around 1 hour) so there's a lot more stuff that didn't make it. ENJOY!"

Dutch act Revamp has issued the following announcement about embarking on a European tour alongside Epica:

Wacken Not Offering Live Stream This Year
The organizers of the Wacken Open Air Festival have issued the following brief update about not offering any live streaming video this year:
"We are sorry so say that it's not possible for us to offer a live stream from this year's Wacken Open Air. We will try the best to grant you this offer again in the next year. The video walls will naturally show the live performances. Your W:O:A team."
The festival takes place from August 4th - 7th in Wacken, Germany. Confirmed bands for the festival include 1349, Arch Enemy, Amorphis, Fear Factory, Slayer, and many more. Additional details on the festival can be found at this location.
Katatonia To Release Special Edition Of New Album
Katatonia kicks off the "Night Over North America" tour on September 8th in Baltimore. To coincide with the 26 date North American tour, Peaceville Records will release a special edition of the 2009 studio album, "Night Is The New Day," in a hardback mediabook, with 20 page booklet, and bonus track, “Ashen." Santa Cruz CA’s death metal act Decrepit Birth, in conjunction with NoiseCreep.com, has uploaded the music video for the track "The Resonance." The video can be viewed below. The song comes from the band's latest album "Polarity," out now on Nuclear Blast Records, and the video was directed by former VJ/producer for MTV Norway’s Headbangers Ball Ann Christin "Anki" Rihm.
