Obscura founder Steffen Kummerer commented on the new album: "We are glad to work with our long-time friend V.Santura once again to record our new album. The new material feels broader in some way as everybody in this band brought many unique ideas to the songwriting and we were able to integrate different elements into our sound. More open chords, more acoustic guitars, more seven string shred-tunes. Remember: more is always more. We are excited to create another album of progressive death metal and to start touring through the whole world in early 2011.”

Starting from the time he wakes up at (way past) the crack of noon, Adam shows fans all the steps behind making his vocals on Contagion sound so undeniably monstrous. Watch as Adam heats up his special pre-session warmup drink. Learn Adam's secret warmup routine. Finally, view just how beastly his vocals will sound on Contagion by way of an in-studio camera that filmed his sessions."
Drawn And Quartered Posts Performance Footage
Drawn and Quartered has posted a series of video clips online from the band's live show at Haley's in Everett, Washington on July 17th, 2010. The clips can be viewed below. Drawn and Quartered also commented on the footage:
"We perform 4 new songs and for the first time 'Rise of the Black Sun" from Merciless Hammer of Luciver (2007), as well as some classics from our other records. This is our third show in the last month or so, our first show since the 2008 spring tour. As many people may know our vocalist Herb Burke, is now handling the bass chores as well, so this was his first chance to get out and do it live with Drawn and Quartered.
"We had a side band from 2004-2008, called Winds of Pestilence, where Herb got some experience doing bass/vocals live, and on a demo (unreleased). Overall, we're pleased with the progress we're making as a live act, once again. We feel we have more work to do, but we think we're just about ready for 'prime time' when we play with Deceased and Rumplestilstskingrinder August 15th at EL Corazon in Seattle.
"Actually we're still working on the new record, and will resume tracking at the end of July. On the youtube videos, you'll notice some of the new stuff doesn't have guitar leads or solos, where there are spots for them, cause I haven't really finalized them or really written them at all yet, but will be working on that since we just got these shows out of the way. We weren't planning on performing this year until 8/15/10, but decided we needed some live shows to get back into the swing of it. And we get a lot of show offers!" More...
Gollum Posts New Music Video Online
North Carolina experimental extreme metal band GOLLUM has posted the music video for "Blacksmith (Summoning Wrath)" online. The track comes off their latest album, "The Core," released via Rotten Records last spring. The video was shot in the summer of 2009 in the band's hometown of Wilmington. The band performance portion was shot in a studio and later cropped and transformed into abstract CGI while the "movie" portion was filmed in a welding warehouse to capture a blacksmith at work.
The band comments on the video's concept, "The concept for the 'Blacksmith (Summoning Wrath)' video was to have this visually experimental and abstract CGI background during our performance intertwined with a 'movie' depicting a blacksmith forging a battle-ready sword. With the limited resources and good dedicated friends that know how to film and use video software helping out, we think we accomplished that vision, even on such a slim budget!"

Tomorrow's Summer Slaughter Date Changing Venue
The organizers of the Summer Slaughter tour have issued the following update about changing venues for tomorrow's show:
"Summer Slaughter tour in El Paso Tomorrow (Tuesday, July 20th) forced to move to Las Cruces, NM @ Beverly Hills Club due to shady owner of Club 101! Many of you may have noticed that The 4th Annual Summer Slaughter Festival in El Paso was advertised and on sale at Club 101 for quite some time. The owner was recently offered a Buckcherry show on the same day and outright canceled Summer Slaughter to replace it with Buckcherry because 'his bar sales would be much higher.'
"That is the crappiest thing you can do in this business and it really is despicable that he would be willing to screw over 10 touring bands and hundreds of fans out of greed for alcohol sales. His latest project, City of Fire, is releasing their self-titled debut album in physical form at the end of August. The band aims for a hard rock vibe, one that may surprise fans of Bell’s aggressive side. While on the road to a Fear Factory gig, Bell spoke to me about City of Fire's debut album, the balancing act of having many distinct projects going on at once, and hinted at a potentially-major project he may be engaging in sometime in the near future.
