Morbus Chron Comments On New EP

Swedish death metal act Morbus Chron recently conducted an interview with Viceland Music, in which the band announced some new details an the upcoming "Creepy Creeping Creeps" EP and a new full-length album. An excerpt from the interview follows.

VM: Why do you think death metal has made such a big comeback in recent years?

Morbus Chron: For us, we started the band and for some reason we just digged the old ways of death metal. It wasn’t because of bands like Repugnant and Kaamos. I can’t point out any specific reason other than that it was really fun to play and you felt fucking evil screaming your lungs out, going “ZOOOOMBIE RIIIIITUAAAAAAAAL!”. Right now, as the scene is growing, I guess it’s because people realise that this is a damn great way to show off your creativity in a raw and unpolished way.

VM: You are currently recording a new EP, correct? Any info?

Morbus Chron: That’s right dude! “Creepy Creeping Creeps”. It’s going to be released from the depths in September by Detest Records, the same month that we start the recording of the full-length, so it’ll be like a pre-album release. I’m excited as hell, the artwork by Rafal Kruszyk is killer, and the songs are the Morbus you know, with that Mayhem riff-stealing that separates us from the rest of the bunch, he he. You don’t really need to know more. It’s gonna be cool.

Germany's Bethlehem has issued the following update about releasing a new mini-CD and working on a full-length album:

"Greetings, the recordings for our self-produced Mini-CD are finished. During the last days 'Niklas Kvarforth' did an amazing vocal job in German, Swedish and English. One song was sung by 'Bartsch' himself. The MCD will contain four brand new songs, a new done version of 'Gestern starb ich schon heute' and a bonus track 'the 11th hour...' sung by 'Nihilist' from Seattle/USA.

"At least this MCD should have a total playtime of around 31 minutes. In the next weeks the songs will be mixed and should be released later in this year by Red Stream, Inc. We gonna keep you informed bout a release date. The line-up: Steve Wolz (Germany) - drums, Bartsch (Germany) - bass guitar, piano, vocals, Kvarforth (Sweden) - main vocals, Eckhardt (Germany) - guitars, piano

"Reuben Jordan (USA) of 'Benighted in Sodom' has a guest guitar appearance on two songs which originally were written by himself. In the meantime both songs completely were recomposed by Bartsch and basically have nothing more in common with these original versions. More...
