Destruction Releases Mini Documentary

A few weeks ago, German thrash titans Destruction ended their break from playing live with two impressive shows at the legendary Z7 venue in Pratteln, Switzerland. The sold out shows were immortalised on film and condensed into a mini documentary. Watch the film below.

Destruction frontman Schmier states:
"I'm glad that our film team could capture those moments, the first shows after the easing of the rules in Switzerland for concerts, were for sure a special moment for all of us. The fans did a stellar job and the social distancing worked pretty well. For sure much better than in the supermarket or on public transport these days. We all felt safe & sound and although you can not completely avoid contact, you can use your common sense. The precautions and government rules have been implemented well and that was important for everybody involved! It will still be very challenging to bring concerts back into our lives. If masks will be a part of that future or other precautions, the next few weeks will tell. It's important to take on new challenges and try – instead of doing nothing and just accepting the situation of no shows! Destruction will continue this path and play a social distanced Open Air concert near to Berlin in August. A concept that has worked for a while in Germany. Frontwoman Brittney Slayes says about "Soulbound" and the music video concept:
"This song is what we call a 'quick-banger' in the UTA camp. It's short, fast, catchy, and never lets up. We always have one of these on every record; the kind of song that makes you want to turn the dial up to 11, maybe drive a little faster, perhaps even stand up and headbang by yourself in the middle of the room. This track re-introduces the four sons of The Matriarch as enslaved, unstoppable, half-dead beings that won't give up until The Immortal is destroyed, and we feel like it can stand on its own while not giving too many of the album's secrets away... "The video was shot by Runegate Studios in Victoria BC, Canada and uses two very different environments to differentiate between the world of the living, and the world of the 'Soulbound'. Rising Steel To Release New Album In September

Following three years of gigging and writing new material, Rising Steel is finally ready to storm the international scene with their new album, "Fight Them All," a record that presents an aggressive mixture of power, heavy and thrash metal. Explosive riffing, crushing rhythms and headbanging songs are the order of the day as the quintet delivers a sound with influences coming mainly from the 1980’s NWOBHM, hard rock and thrash metal scenes. Ensiferum Posts New Lyric Video Online

Finnish folk metal veterans Ensiferum has uploaded a new lyric video for the song, "For Sirens." You can check it out below. The song comes from the band's latest full length album, "Thalassic," which was released last week through Metal Blade Records.

Mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren, "Thalassic" was recorded and produced in Petrax and Sonic Pump studios by Janne Joutsenniemi, who was involved on their albums "Victory Songs" (2007) and "From Afar" (2009). "We like to go to a studio when we have all the songs 99.9% ready so the producer's main job is to kick our asses while we record. Of course Janne Joutsenniemi is a world-class producer, and we asked his opinion if we were doubting any details. It was really a pleasure to work with him again, and I think this was one of the most easy-going studio sessions I have ever been part of. We are extremely happy with the result." Draconian Posts New Single Online

Draconian, the sovereigns of melancholic Gothic Doom Metal and colossal lyricism, have released their second single "Sorrow Of Sophia," off their upcoming album, 'Under A Godless Veil,' out October 30, 2020 via Napalm Records.

The opening epos on Draconian’s new offer epitomizes the story behind the album and introduces the world of Gnosticism to the listener. Delicate guitar lines weave throughout "Sorrow Of Sophia" while the ethereal vocals of singer Heike Langhans accompany the melancholic vibe of the song. "'Sorrow Of Sophia' was the first lyric, and one of the first songs written for 'Under A Godless Veil.' This was years ago now, and I remember I’d just finished a lecture on Gnostic cosmology by Terence McKenna. He’d been speaking of the goddess Sophia’s ordeal and her story affected me on a very deep level. It’s sad yet heart-wrenchingly majestic bringing all of existence into it. I knew I had to do something with it for Draconian as I was already having a few of Johan’s new song-ideas. This sparked what was later to become a whole album inspired by this story. It started here, with this song.

"'Sorrow Of Sophia' is a complex song about a complex spiritual being. With it comes a diverse nature consisting of an initial minimalist soulful expression to feisty, heavy riffing with a harsh demonic formula to post-rock melancholia and symphonic soundscapes.
