Ov Sulfur Signs With Century Media Records

Vegas blackened deathcore band, Ov Sulfur, announce their signing to Century Media Records.

"We’re beyond excited to join forces with Century Media, whose stellar roster speaks for itself. They’ve been at the forefront of every scene, regularly picking up the best each subgenre has to offer right before it really explodes. That they saw promise in us was truly affirming and invigorating, especially after only a year-and-a-bit as a band," states the band about signing to Century Media.

Additionally, Ov Sulfur are gearing up to release their new track, "Wide Open," on June 8. Stay tuned for more details on that release.

In the meantime, the band have launched a contest for their Century Media debut track. Fans can pre-save/pre-add the single starting today, here, and one lucky winner will win Ricky’s custom made "Wide Open" shirt seen in the band’s previous music video for "Behind The Hand Of God" and during all their live shows.

"We’ve been teasing ‘Wide Open’ since our first music video, where Ricky wore a custom-made shirt that quickly became his stage gear. We’re happy that this liminal song will serve as our first release on Century Media, closing the last chapter and ushering in a new one."

"Fans have been asking about where to get that shirt for AGES, and as of now you can - well one person can. One person who pre-saves/pre-adds the single will win Ricky’s original shirt. (Don’t worry, we’ll wash it first.) We’ve also got a revamped version playing off the single art for sale on our Indie Merch store." More...

Oceans Debuts "I Want To Be Whole Again" Single

After releasing their latest EP named "Hell Is Where The Heart Is - Part I: Love" in January of this year, rising German/Austrian nu-metal stars Oceans have already announced the highly anticipated second part of this masterpiece - the digital EP entitled "Hell Is Where The Heart Is - Part II: Longing", that will be released via Nuclear Blast on July 29th.

Today, they are already unleashing the second single off this EP, a dark and emotional hymn titled "I Want To Be Whole Again."

Timo Rotten comments: "This song was written in the midst of the pandemic at a low point in our lives. We had just lost one of the most important foundations of our sanity: playing live music. That was what had kept us sane all these years, and suddenly it was gone. There's a lot of longing and pain in 'I Want To Be Whole Again', and I'm sure you can hear that clearly.” More...

Darkest Era Announces New Album

Irish dark metallers Darkest Era have announced their third album, "Wither On The Vine," is set for release on 30th September via Candlelight Records. You can check out the first single, "Floodlands" below.

Guitarist Ade Mulgrew comments: "'Floodlands' is about human tragedy, and empathy in the face of chaos and despair. It was particularly inspired by the horrifying images and accounts we've seen over the last years of people forced to flee their homes and their lives in the face of war, famine, persecution and climate change. Following the outbreak of war in Ukraine the themes prove to be, sadly, ever relevant. We hope the song resonates with listeners with it's crushing drive and sweeping melancholy."

The haunting video for "Floodlands" was filmed on the north coast of Ireland against the wild and windswept backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean. Director Anais Mulgrew comments: "'Floodlands' is the first of a series of three music videos written around the vision that Darkest Era’s new album brought to my head. The neverending tragedy of life, brought to the scale of the gods themselves. Everything withers, everything ends, while grief goes on forever, and the mourning creatures depicted in the video will work until the end of times as surely as the waves will keep crashing on the cliffs."

It has been eight years since Darkest Era’s last album, 2014’s "Severance." In that time, the Northern Irish-centred band have undergone personal and personnel changes, while the world itself has entered its own new dark era. Now, they return with their third album, "Wither On The Vine." More...

Decapitated Shares "Iconoclast" Music Video

Today, Decapitated are proud to release their 8th studio album "Cancer Culture." The most versatile album in their catalogue, it will undoubtedly surprise fans with new elements, such as guest vocal appearances from Tatiana Shmayluk (Jinjer) and Robb Flynn (Machine Head).

To celebrate the release of "Cancer Culture," Decapitated has yet another surprise in store. Robb Flynn from the mighty Machine Head has contributed hauntingly beautiful vocals to the track "Iconoclast," and features in the accompanying video.

Vogg commented:
"'Cancer Culture' is out today! We've been waiting for this special moment for a very long time. It seems like ages - its been five years since our latest release 'Anticult', with sixteen months of working on the 'Cancer Culture' album, plus waiting almost a year to be able to share it with you finally. You can expect to hear varied tracks, outstanding production values, fantastic artwork, and of course, as always, something you won't have heard before on a Decapitated album.

To celebrate this day, we decided to release a video for 'Iconoclast'. To mark this occasion, we returned to the studio where it all started, where we recorded drums for the album, to once again feel an incredible energy and cool vibes, while making the video. As you probably know, we have an exceptional guest on the track, the metal legend and friend of ours, the one and only Robb Flynn. His contribution became one of my favourite parts of this album. It's a huge honour to have Robb in this project, and I hope you will dig the song. It's a different song - not blasting madness as most of the songs on this record, but still powerful, fast, and crushing.

"Decapitated are back, strong and alive! From pain to strength! Enjoy!"

Robb Flynn commented on the collaboration:
"When Vogg asked me to sing on this Decapitated track, I was honoured to jam with pioneers and such insane musicians. When he sent the track I was blown away at this incredible melodic section in the middle. When he told me the song was called Iconoclast, I knew exactly what needed to be said. An Iconoclast is "a destroyer of images used in religious worship". This song had to address the hateful, growing fascist Evangelical movement growing around the world. The cruel men who wish to hide their cruelty under a cloak of faith and zealotry." More...

Anthea To Release Second Album In August

Los Angeles symphonic prog metallers Anthea announces their return in 2022 with their sophomore album "Tales Untold" to be released once again via Rockshots Records this coming August to follow their 2020 debut "Illusion."

For the new album, Anthea has taken the reigns for a more DIY approach with vocalist Diego Valadez taking over also as the full-length's producer along with bassist Eric “EJ” Guerrero in charge of music videos and photography.

"We released our debut album in 2020, but were, unfortunately, like everyone else, unable to tour or play live gigs. However, this gave us a lot of extra time to really craft this follow-up album into something special. Tales Untold was written and recorded throughout 2021 and I am so proud of the end result." adds Valadez.

Fans of Anthea's first album "Illusion" will enjoy this one even more. The difference with this next record is that Anthea has a more mature sound and has carefully thought out the ebb and flow throughout it. Their end goal is to give a very dynamic and cinematic album in which the listener feels as though they’ve gone through a grand musical journey once they've reached the end.

"We also wanted to create a sense of escapism while keeping one fit in the real world lyrically."

Today in preview of the album, the band is sharing with fans a new music video for its title track. The opening song is about how art inspires new generations of art forms whether it be novels, music, movies, poetry, etc.

"I just find the interconnectivity of it all fascinating. This song itself wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for the music that we were influenced by, and their music wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for what they were listening to, and so on and so on." says Valadez.

"Tales Untold" is due out on August 26, 2022. More...

Black Void Unveils New Single

Today, Norwegian nihilists Black Void have unleashed their new record "Antithesis" - a bold debut filled with nihilistic aggression and desperation, and a furious, unrepentant attitude. It builds on the philosophical works of Friedrich Nietzsche while leaning on punk rock and black metal. It is nihilistic, filthy, violent and raw.

To accompany today's album release, the band have also revealed their new single "Void." Watch the visualizer below.

Lars Are Nedland comments:
"There’s an existential void that humanity is constantly trying to fill. The idea that life has no inherent value seems to be a bitter pill for us to swallow. Nietzsche wrote about the consequences of the lack of meaning, knowledge and morality, and 'Antithesis' can be seen as a soundtrack to his unmasking of the motives that underlie traditional Western religion, morality, and philosophy. Enjoy the ensuing chaos." More...

Helloween Debuts "Best Time" Music Video

June 2021 saw the release of their sensational new studio album "Helloween" and it was THE metal news of the year! Media and critics were cheering almost breathlessly: "sleight of hand," "healing" and "a 65-minute celebration." Finally, the fans were the ones who catapulted the album straight to No. 1 in Germany and Spain, into the top 5 of seven countries and worldwide 15 times into the best 15 of the album charts. Everybody was united in their opinion: these 12 tracks generated their own genre universe and leave all competitors behind, even after 35 years of band history.

Because this success is not being a given in these times, Helloween would like to celebrate again with their fans: with "Best Time," THE party song of the album - streamed via Spotify more than 4 million times - the song propagates a lot of hope and optimism.

"Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
I will have the best time of my life
Yes, I know I'm gonna be alright
I'm feeling better in the neon light"

The sunny and straight hymn by Sascha Gerstner and Andi Deris revives the good times and shows with their drifty guitars and top form front men a song full of the joys. About the songwriting of 'Best Time,' Sascha Gerstner states: "I had an '80's neo noir vibe' in my head. The riff originally was a synth riff, which we arranged for guitars later. The wording 'I will have the best time of my life' was pretty spontaneous because I had this strong feeling to leave the past behind and to seize the day! Andi instantly loved the idea as well as the refrain and together we created the track as it is now!"

Visually, the new single is a real goodie as well: under the administration of Martin Häusler ("Skyfall"), an extremely cool 3D road movie developed and one lost sight of the difficult conditions. The band was added via live material and Canadian Arch Enemy front-woman Alissa White-Gluz complimented the video with her appearance and stated: "After playing multiple festivals and touring extensively in South America together a few years back, Helloween and I decided to make a fun video to reminisce about the good times while simultaneously planning for many more!" Belphegor Posts New Music Video Online

Diabolical death metal squadron Belphegor have released an atmospheric video for their brand new single, "Virtus Asinaria - Prayer," which is the second single from their upcoming twelfth full-length "The Devils," due out on June 24th. "Virtus Asinaria - Prayer" is a change of pace with its more sustained yet inherently sinister approach, slowly luring you in with entrancing melodies and ceremonial chants, indicating impending doom. The video for the song was partially shot at the scenic and infamous Neudegg Alm in Abtenau, Austria, and it can be watched below.

Helmuth states:
"Our new video for the track 'Virtus Asinaria - Prayer' pairs Belphegor´s bizarre live procession with an intimate ritual of sulphur, passion and blood. For he shall rise, heretic goat of flesh and lust! It stands for what Belphegor has always stood: liberty and the everlasting spiritual and bodily manifestation of carnal sin upon this rotten world!” In Musick, Helmuth" More...

Corvus Corax Releases Song With Primordial Singer

With their second single, the Middle-Irish "Na láma-sa" Corvus Corax show another fascinating facet of their metal project Corvus Corax "Era Metallum" and another exciting collaboration with guests from the metal scene.

The epic bagpipe melody is carried by slow, almost doomy guitar riffs from the fingers of Sami Yli-Sirniö (Kreator, Waltari) over the endless, moving landscape of Ireland and at the end, everything goes up in a goosebump causing a thunderstorm. The Middle-Irish lyrics, a requiem from the 10th century, could not be interpreted more fittingly by any guest than Alan Nemtheanga A., who with his band Primordial is widely acclaimed as an icon of "Celtic Metal". The Irish metal singer gladly accepted the challenge to interpret the song in the language of his ancestors. In doing so, he draws an ingenious bow between the music's inherent epicness and a skillfully applied vocal rawness, which gives the work a new and even more deeply digging into the listener's stomach.

Alan sums up the successful collaboration, "It was a really interesting thing to do. Putting my voice over the music of Corvus Corax felt like a pretty good bond!" From Corvus Corax's perspective, too, the fusion of Alan's vocals and his musical background with what is probably the most atmospherically dense "Era Metallum" piece fits like a glove. Sláinte, Alan!

The album "Corvus Corax Era Metallum" will be released on June 24, 2022, as a Limited Edition Double CD and digitally. The vinyl version will be available in stores from September 21, 2022. More...

Blind Guardian To Release New Album In September

A distant mechanical sound is approaching from afar, heralding the arrival of exciting new happenings - casting fore-shadows on the date of September 2nd. This is the day that metal legends Blind Guardian will release their eleventh studio album "The God Machine" via Nuclear Blast, a new monument to their outstanding career.

Singer Hansi Kürsch explains:
"We didn't want to rehash our qualities from 1995, but didn't want to continue down this complex path forever either. ‘The God Machine’ is a new beginning for us. We’ve set a new course and gone back to certain things that we’ve neglected a bit on the last few albums."

"The God Machine" marks another pinnacle in Blind Guardian’s impressive discography, by not attempting to pretend that it's still the '90s, but successfully relying on the muscle memory of this period. It is a gripping, addictive and brilliantly arranged album, in the tradition of records in which Blind Guardian reached for the stars in the 90’s; yet, by no means, is it a throwback. 'The God Machine' represents the heart and soul of Blind Guardian’s timeless music, in the here and now, unifying the bards’ past, present and future secrets in one consistent, well thought out masterpiece.

Together with the announcement, the band shares a video for their new raging single "Blood Of The Elves," a galloping anthem that is destined to become a live staple.

Hansi Kürsch comments further:
"'Blood Of The Elves' features a pretty heavy side that the avid fan of Blind Guardian hopefully enjoys well. More than well, I'd guess. Instrumentally, the track has some kind of an early 90s appeal that blends well into the vocal parts of the opera/twist era, and catapults both epochs into a new era for the band. A perfect hybrid. The chorus has some very strong sing-along vibes, despite its complexity. What else do you need? Inspired by 'The Witcher' computer game series, the lyrics even reinforce the power of this banger and the clip by Dirk Behlau fits perfectly to the whole setting. Let me tell you: 'The God Machine' has even more to offer. And that's no promise - that's the ultimate truth. Stay tuned." More...
