The songs are available online at the band's MySpace page.
"Texas Medicine" was recorded at Speaker Freaker Studios in Surrey, British Columbia. The album, which was mixed and mastered by Devin Townsend (LAMB OF GOD, DARKEST HOUR, GWAR), is described as "a unique mixture of crushing '80s hardcore crossover, high-velocity riffs, and a pummeling thrash metal attack. This huge sludgy slab of metal will fit into CD collections somewhere in between SUPERJOINT RITUAL and SLAYER."

Also scheduled to appear are CADAVERIC CREMATORIUM, PULVIS ET UMBRA, IMPOSER and KRIEGMEISTER. "We are diehard metalheads and we are looking VERY MUCH forward to present ourselves to an Italian audience," Eithun says in a statement. In other news, BLOOD TSUNAMI will play the Rock Mot Rus festival in Andenes, a small place located in the north of Norway, on March 16. Other artists scheduled to participate in the event include DIMMU BORGIR, EL CACO and INSENCE.
BLOOD TSUNAMI's debut album, "Thrash Metal", was released in March 2007 via Nocturnal Art Productions. The CD was recorded at Lion Heart Studios in Oslo with engineer Øivind Voldmo Larsen and features "over-the-top fantastic" artwork by Alex Horley Orlandelli, who is best known for his great drawings for Marvel comics, Heavy Metal magazine and Image comics.
Angel Blake Enter Mixing Mode
ANGEL BLAKE, the Swedish band featuring former THE CROWN guitarist Marko Tervonen, is putting the finishing touches on its second album at Tervonen's Studio MT (located three kilometers from Trollhättan, Sweden) for a late April release via Dynamic Arts Records. A single, entitled "Defenseless", will precede the album in the spring.
Commented Tervonen: "I've been messing with different ANGEL BLAKE mixes for days now. Trying out new toys, different combination of gear etc. etc. I believe I found the best possible production for this album, so the time has come to start mixing down the songs. And a mastering session has been booked for Tuesday next week at Bohus Sound Studios. There shouldn't be any problems making the deadline. And cover artwork is beeing finnished as well, the much talanted Claudio Bergamin is taking care of that area. And the video for 'Defenseless' [first single] should be done early next week. A lot of stuff happeing right now, looking forward to see everything in their complete form." More...

10 Years To Release "Division" In April
Knoxville, Tennessee's 10 YEARS will release its sophomore effort, "Division", on April 8. The album's first single, "Beautiful", will go for radio adds on on February 5. Another tune titled "Focus" was co-written with former STONE TEMPLE PILOTS and ARMY OF ANYONE guitarist Dean DeLeo.
The band began recording the new CD in late June after spending the better part of a year writing, and bassist Lewis Cosby told The Pulse of Radio it wasn't an easy process. "This whole making of this album was a mess, and calling this record 'Division', like, you've got five completely different personalities," he said. "You know, we play in a band and we know each other forwards and backwards but, you know, outside of that, like, we're five completely, completely different people. And, you know, you've got five guys coming in here to make an album, and it's like pulling teeth there for a little while." More...

Cavalera Conspiracy Post Video Greetings Online
A short video message from SEPULTURA founding members Max Cavalera (guitar, vocals) and Igor Cavalera (drums) shot earlier this month by Germany's Metal-Hammer.de web site during the Cavaleras' European promotional trip for the CAVALERA CONSPIRACY project can be viewed below. Also available is a separate video message from Max which was filmed exclusively for the Metal-Online.com web site.
CAVALERA CONSPIRACY — the project featuring Max, and Igor alongside vocalist Joe Duplantier (bass) of the French progressive death metallers GOJIRA and SOULFLY guitarist Marc Rizzo — will release its debut album, "Inflikted", in North America on March 25, 2008 via Roadrunner Records (one day earlier internationally). Rex Brown (PANTERA, DOWN) makes a cameo bass appearance on one track. Another song is a collaboration between Max, Joe and Richie Cavalera (INCITE) on vocals.
This long-anticipated reunion between the Cavalera brothers is something fans across the globe have been waiting for since SEPULTURA's last gig at Brixton Academy in December 1996. Hailing from Belo Horizonte in central Brazil, SEPULTURA gained a legendary reputation as the one of the most highly regarded and successful death/thrash metal bands of all time, with two gold albums under their belts both in the UK and the USA — "Chaos A.D." (1994) and "Roots" (1996).
"When Igor and I met at the 10th annual D-Low Memorial Show [in 2006] and got the instruments in our hands, it was like we had never been separated. The metal was flowing in our veins," Max previously said. "It was the same in the studio."
Recording took place this past July at Undercity Studios in Los Angeles, with rising production star Logan Mader (ex-MACHINE HEAD/SOULFLY guitarist). Among the 11 songs set to appear are "Inflikted", "Bloodbrawl", "Terrorize" (formerly "Holy Poison"), "The Doom of All Fires", "Ultra-Violent" and " Sanctuary". A b-side cover of the POSSESSED death/thrash classic "The Exorcist" was also recorded.

Korn Reveal Munky's Replacement On European Tour
According to HardDrive Radio, Rob Patterson — former OTEP guitarist who was in the back-up band for KORN's Family Values Tour in 2006 — is replacing KORN guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer on the band's current European trek.
Shaffer left the tour for "personal and family reasons," according to a statement posted by the band at its official web site. Singer Jonathan Davis said, "We fully support Munky's need to be home right now and because we want to come through for all of our European fans, the tour will go on. It's what Munky wants us to do, too. We promise to give it our all every night!"
In a MySpace bulletin, Munky stated about his decision to leave the tour, "If you want to better understand my departure, then listen to the words in the song 'Watching the Wheels' by John Lennon."
Although his departure is not seen as permanent, Shaffer is the third original member of KORN to exit in the last three years. Guitarist Brian "Head" Welch left in early 2005, while drummer David Silveria went on "temporary hiatus" in late 2006 and has yet to return.
Shaffer posted an update online just a few days ago, saying that he had a "big surprise announcement coming very, very soon" about his future plans.
KORN's current touring lineup includes guitarist Shane Gibson and ex-ARMY OF ANYONE drummer Ray Luzier, in addition to remaining original members Davis and bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu.

Meshuggah Guitarist Talks About New Album
MTV.com has issued the following report from Chris Harris and Jon Wiederhorn
It's been three long years since we've heard anything new from MESHUGGAH, but on March 11th, the Swedish experimental-metallers return with what's maybe the first metal album of 2008 that deserves a solid listen. The follow-up to 2005's Catch Thirty-Three, obZen is the product of a year's worth of writing and marks something of a regression for the band, according to guitarist Mårten Hagström.
"We had this vision to make a dense album that was going back to the old songwriting structure we'd been using, where it'd have songs that were linked to each other by a common thread but still had a different identity," he explained.
"Now, listening back to the album, that's something I think is the best part of the album, that we pulled that off and managed to get the diversity in there - if you can call what we're doing 'diverse,' with the kind of aggression that's involved. But we aimed to make an album that had that severe, aggressive quality to it. We wanted to get back to the sheer intensity of what we do, but really, it was all a semiconscious thing for us.
"I think this album's a little more direct than the previous ones," he continued. "It's more back to the in-your-face brutality of our older records and has a lot of qualities of what we've done over our career."

The Fire The Flood Breaks Up
Charlotte, North Carolina's The Fire The Flood has called it quits. Formed in 2005, the band released an album with No Sleep Records last year (conveniently on sale for $6 right here). Here's a statement from the band:
"After close to two and a half years we have played music on our own terms. We have had the joy of touring all over the country. We have met tons of wonderful people in bands and fans. However it is with great heartache that I write to inform you that we, The Fire The Flood, is dead. To anyone who came to our show at Lunchbox Records last Friday then you saw our last performance.
If anyone has followed us for any time at all then you would know that we have faced setback after setback and we never let it slow us down. We feel that right now we are all being pulled in different directions and can no longer give 100% to this band.
To every band we played with, any person who let us sleep on there floor, anyone who attended a show, bought an album, or helped us out in any way then we thank you with our whole hearts. This has been an opportunity of a lifetime and I couldn't have wanted it on anybody else's terms except our own.
I am sure you have not heard the last of any of us. We thank you guys once again for everything."
The band had just wrapped up a short tour of the South East U.S. this month.

Epica Announce Rescheduled Shows
EPICA — whose lead singer, Simone Simons, was recently infected with Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA), also known as the hospital bacteria — has announced the rescheduled dates for its Dutch tour. The details are as follows:
May 15 - Bibelot - Dordrecht - The Netherlands
May 22 - de Kade - Zaandam - The Netherlands
May 23 - Romein - Leeuwarden - The Netherlands
May 24 - LVC- Leiden - The Netherlands
May 25 - Perron 55 - Venlo - The Netherlands
May 30 - Burgerweeshuis - Deventer - The Netherlands
May 31 - Groene Engel - Oss - The Netherlands
Simone Simons recently stated about her condition, "Since a couple of months I have been struggling with infections and had surgery many times. The doctors didn't know what was wrong with me. After a lot of tests at the hospital they found out that I am infected with MRSA, also known as the hospital bacteria. The treatment of this bacteria comes with a strict hygienic schedule which I have to work through every day. Because of this I will not be able to go on long trips, let alone living in a tour bus. . . We cannot plan too far ahead since I first have to get rid of the infection and that will take some time. How long it will take we cannot tell at the moment. We are very sorry that we cannot do these shows. We were all looking forward to this tour and to meet you guys. What I have to focus on now is getting well, so that we will be on the road again as soon as possible."
According to WebMD, Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA), like all staph bacteria, can be spread from one person to another through casual contact or through contaminated objects. It is commonly spread from the hands of someone who has MRSA. This could be anyone in a health care setting or in the community. MRSA is usually not spread through the air like the common cold or flu virus, unless a person has MRSA pneumonia and is coughing.
Sylosis Sign With Nuclear Blast Records
UK metal band SYLOSIS has inked a deal with Nuclear Blast Records. According to a press release, "It's seldom the best bands accrue the most attention, so you can fully expect SYLOSIS to be ignored by the UK metal hype machine, despite the obvious fact that they're phenomenally talented and have pockets bulging with fantastic songs. This is brutal, technical and deceptively melodic modern metal that favours invention over cliche and never shies away from nimble shifts in style, tempo or mood. The quintet manage to bring an epic, technical and melodic feel to the old school thrash sound, combining incredible guitar solos and bloodlust vocals. The outcome, a sound that is both devastatingly feral and blisteringly precise."
Commented the group in a statement: "We are really happy and excited to be a part of the Nuclear Blast family. The label is home to some of our favourite bands and biggest influences. We look forward to working with such a highly respected label and taking our career to the next level!
"As for future plans, we'll be entering the studio in a few months to start recording our debut album with Scott Atkins (ADIM, UNCERTA, MADMEN). We've got about 97% of the material ready to, just a bit of arranging left to do. It's going to be way more epic, faster and generally a bit more diverse than anything we've done before."

Legion Of The Damned Enter German Charts
"Feel the Blade", a reissue of Dutch thrashers LEGION OF THE DAMNED's "Elegy for the Weak" CD (originally released under the band's previous moniker OCCULT), has entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 70. Released on January 4, 2008 via Massacre Records, the new version of the LP contains two new songs that didn't appear on the original "Elegy for the Weak" album, a new cover and a bonus DVD.
The band previously commented: "'Feel the Blade' comes from an album that OCCULT once released under the name 'Elegy for the Weak'. We as band strongly believe that this album belongs to the LEGION OF THE DAMNED category and since the album is hard to get we will re-release it. Of course there may always be people out there who were able to buy an 'Elegy for the Weak' copy for 10 or 15 euros, but we put so much effort into this new release that even if you own a copy of the 'Elegy for the Weak' album, this is still worth buying. It not only [has] the 'Elegy for the Weak' recording remastered but also two new songs and a cover song, plus a 127-minute-long bonus DVD."
LEGION OF THE DAMNED's "Sons of the Jackal" album entered the German national album chart at position No. 54 back in January 2007. The follow-up to 2006's "Malevolent Rapture" was recorded at Stage One studio in Bühne, Germany with producer Andy Classen.
Former Iced Earth Guitarist Sentenced To 33 Years
Esteban Parra of The News Journal reports that former ICED EARTH guitarist Ernie Carletti declined to show remorse this morning before being sentenced to 33 years in prison for kidnapping, raping and torturing a University of Delaware student in 2003.
"I feel, your honor, that anything I say is not going to be able to contribute," 32-year-old Carletti told Superior Court Judge Jan R. Jurden after she gave him a final opportunity to speak. Carletti mumbled some other words, which could not be understood.
The victim, a former University of Delaware student, testified in November that a stranger forced her into his car at gunpoint as she waited for a ride at the Burger King parking lot on South Chapel Street in Newark on May 22, 2003. He handcuffed, shackled and blindfolded her as he drove to his home in Elkton, Md., she said, then took her into his house and raped her.
The victim testified Carletti ordered her to call him "master," and she heard him playing with chains. He then put a gag in her mouth, wrapped a chain around her neck and shackled limbs and began lifting her off the table, she said.
After she nearly passed out, the woman said, the stranger returned her to the car and drove her back to Newark. On the way, she said, the stranger replaced the handcuffs with duct tape, apologized to her and told her not to tell anyone.
He then slowed the car and pushed her out, leaving her hogtied and blindfolded on West Main Street.
Carletti admitted at trial to abducting and shackling the woman, as well as taking her to his home, where he hogtied her.
But he insisted that he did not rape her, and continues to maintain his innocence on that charge.
"It was disappointing that he was not remorseful and did not, at least, apologize to the victim," prosecutor Donald R. Roberts said after the sentencing hearing.
When first interviewed by police, Carletti said he did not kidnap the woman. He later admitted to doing so when investigators found his fingerprints on duct tape recovered from the abduction.
Carletti, a guitarist who played with the bands NAUGHTY NAUGHTY and ICED EARTH, was charged last year in another sexual assault that occurred when he was in high school. That case will not be prosecuted.
Even though Roberts asked the judge for a life-in-prison term, he said the state and family were pleased with the sentence.
"The defendant will be, at a minimum, 64 years old when he gets out of jail," he said.

Immortal Dominion Lands 5 Songs In Horror/Comedy
Immortal Dominion will have five of their songs featured throughout the movie, "Teeth." After the band's distributor, Fist Music/Hapi Skratch Entertainment, hooked them up with the filmmakers, Immortal Dominion was asked to contribute a total of five songs to the soundtrack. The film won a juror's award for best actress at the Sundance Film Festival, and was then purchased by Lionsgate/The Weinstein Company. The film is due for release nationwide in February 2008 via Roadside Attractions, and is already drawing attention to Immortal Dominion, on the strength of the instantly memorable song, "Sold My Soul."
Formed in 1992 in Fort Collins, Colorado, Immortal Dominion is comprised of members Ray Smith (guitars/lead vocals), Brian Villers (guitars/vocals), Bryan (Edward) Schmidt (bass), and Ben Huntwork (drums/vocals). The group has issued two full-lengths ("Endure" and "Awakening - The Revelation") and an EP ("Birth"), and are hard at work on a new studio album, set to be released later this year. Additionally, Immortal Dominion are in talks with music video director Frank Nasso (who has previously worked with Mudvayne, Hatebreed, All That Remains for the "Saw III" soundtrack) about working on some clips for the songs that appear in "Teeth." With all these simultaneous projects, 2008 is quickly shaping up to be the year that Immortal Dominion break through to the metal masses, while "Awakening - the Revelation" is also still contributing to the buzz.
"This album is a soundtrack to one of the darkest periods we have ever been through as a band," recalls Villers, "Yet as we stayed tight with each other, and found new ways to collaborate in the songwriting process, we experienced an 'Awakening' as far as who we are as a band. We hope the listener feels the wide range of emotions we were experiencing as we compiled this material."
Here is the tracklisting for "Awakening - the Revelation": More...

Onesidezero’s upcoming European tour, alongside Adema and Re:Ignition, has been cancelled due to personal reasons within the Adema camp. The band has released the following statement:
"Things like this happen and it sucks! Of course we're all bummed out, but Tiefdruck Musik, our German label, our manager, and Onesidezero have worked really hard to make this happen," commented drummer Rob Basile. "We're not looking at this as a complete cancellation, but an opportunity for all bands to regroup and reconvene at a later date. We're still hyped to get there!"
"While Adema, Onesidezero, and Re:Ignition will not be fulfilling the February and March '08 dates scheduled in Europe, we have intentions to revisit these tour plans sometime in the near future," added Onesidezero manager Shawna Morey. "Tiefdruck-Musik, Onesidezero's European label, has been very supportive of all artists involved, and we're looking forward to a long lasting relationship and all overseas touring opportunities to come."
Onesidezero is currently supporting their recently released Ulrich Wild (Static-X, Stabbing Westward, Taproot) produced sophomore album, which was released th rough Corporate Punishment Records. The album is the long awaited follow-up to the band’s critically acclaimed 2001 debut “Is This Room Getting Smaller”, which saw the group tour with the likes of Incubus, 311, Static-X, and Soulfly.

Dour Cursiva Fans Shut Down WRIU Twice In A Night
WRIU’s DJ Ms. Meghan had to stop her show “Cupcakecore” twice, once in the middle of a song, to ask people to stop putting in requests for Dour Cursiva’s “Voices Through Wires.” The people’s demands were finally met at 11 sharp with the albums opening track: “Pro Patria Mori”, and was encored again later in the show with “Canals Are Not Rivers”.
You can tune in to the metal portion of Cupcakecore at 11pm every Thursday on 90.3 fm WRIU (www.WRIU.org).
Dour Cursiva's "Voices Through Wires" hits the streets this coming Monday, Jan 21st.

Opeth Confirmed For Wacken Open Air

Metallica To Headline Electric Weekend Festival
According to MariskalRock.com (the Spanish Internet radio station hosted by the Kerrang! and Heavy Rock magazines), METALLICA has been confirmed to headline the Electric Weekend festival in southern Madrid, Spain on May 31.
Upcoming METALLICA shows:
May 28 - Chorzow, Poland - Slaski Stadium
May 30 - Landgraaf, Netherlands - Pinkpop
May 31 - Madrid, Spain - Electric Weekend
Jun. 03 - Prague, Czech Republic - Slavia Stadium
Jun. 05 - Lisbon, Portugal - Rock In Rio Lisboa
Jun. 07 - Nürburgring, Germany - Rock Am Ring
Jun. 08 - Nürnberg, Germany - Rock Im Park
METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich has spoken with Revolver magazine about the band's ninth studio album, which is expected out later this year and will be its first all-new effort since 2003's "St. Anger". Ulrich told the magazine that the group's new material "is certainly a lot more dynamic and a lot more varied than the last couple of go-rounds," adding, "There's a lot of light and shade in these songs. There's heavy, fast, nutty stuff, and then there's some slowdowns and musical interludes." Ulrich also said that the album has more in common with some of the group's '80s releases than more recent offerings like "St. Anger" and "Load".
Ulrich wouldn't agree that the yet-to-be-titled disc is a full-blown return to the past, saying, "I hate to be that specific, because six months from now people are gonna go, 'What the fuck? Lars lied to us!' But it feels that way to me."
The drummer also revealed that producer Rick Rubin, working with the band for the first time, wanted METALLICA to use classic efforts like "Ride the Lightning" and "Master of Puppets" as "reference points" for its new songs.
There's no word yet on an exact release date for the new METALLICA CD, although a summer release is likely.
Megadeth Drummer Checks In
MEGADETH drummer Shawn Drover has issued the following update:
"Howdy!!!!!!!!

As most of you are now aware, I am now a part of The Live Line, and I am real excited about it. I left almost daily messages (sometimes more than that per day, actually) with a previous phone service we were a part of during this past summer, so I plan on doing the same with The Live Line, with a lot of cool updates Mega-related and the going's on with my endless daily search on tour trying to find a good coffee house, CD shops and Book stores. Give me a ring at 877-388-3786. I will as well be reporting from the NAMM show, which is always a total blast for me.
Those of you who will be attending the NAMM show, feel free to come over to any or all of my signings. I will be the guy with the big smile on my face the NAMM show for me is like a kid in the biggest candy store on earth - it's that cool for me!!!!!! It's also the time where I get to see a lot of my musical friends that I havent seen since.....well.....the last NAMM show. HHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAA.......
And after all of that fun, it's time to prepare for the 2008 Euro-leg of our world tour - Needless to say, I am looking forward to seeing all of your faces again, and playing a few new cities I have not had the pleasure of doing so yet."
Positive Vibes, people.

Velvet Revolver To Begin Writing In April
Eric Schelkopf of the Northwest Herald recently conducted an interview with former GUNS N' ROSES and current VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:
Northwest Herald: I understand that Japanese immigration officials wouldn't give you visas so you could play in that country. That must have been quite the blow.
Slash: We're trying to appeal that situation. It's nothing that we did since the last time we played there. But for whatever reason, they decided to do that. That obviously disappointed a lot of Japanese fans.
Northwest Herald: Ironically, the name of your latest album, "Libertad", is Spanish for "freedom."
Slash: Yeah, maybe that's it. Maybe Japan is turning Communist. It's a drag. We have a huge fan base there that are being denied concerts and whatnot.
Northwest Herald: There are three former members of GUNS N' ROSES in VELVET REVOLVER, including yourself. As far as the dynamic of VELVET REVOLVER, how do you think it is different from GUNS N' ROSES?
Slash: It's just a different band, that's the only way I can answer that. It's a rock band, and there's a lot of similarities to any of the rock bands I've been in. But it's a whole different group, really. I found that in most of the rock bands I've been involved with, the approach is pretty similar. You get together and listen to different ideas. It's a little bit more smooth sailing and a little bit faster in this band than it was in my last band.
Northwest Herald: Last year at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, Sammy Hagar referred to you guys as the best rock 'n' roll band left on the planet. Do you guys see yourselves that way?
Slash: This is definitely one of the few real rock bands out there, as least that is getting played on the radio. The whole sort of rock 'n' roll spirit, and that whole energy and that vibe of living on the edge, is just rare among new groups. It's just the way it is.
Northwest Herald: So does this look to be a pretty big year for the band?
Slash: It's been great so far. We've done a lot of touring. We're definitely not going to tour as much as we did on the last record. That almost killed us. We were out for 2-1/2 years. In April, we are going to start working on the next record.
Northwest Herald: Any other projects you are working on?
Slash: Yeah, there's a couple of things here and there. There's a couple of recordings I have going on. I don't really talk about that stuff until it's out.
Northwest Herald: Any dream projects you are looking forward to?
Slash: I have a solo record that I'm looking forward to doing. But I'm not going to do it until the VELVET REVOLVER record is done. That will be in the next year or two.

Heaven And Hell And Judas Priest To Tour?
HEAVEN AND HELL — the band featuring BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler, singer Ronnie James Dio, and drummer Vinny Appice (BLACK SABBATH, DIO) — and JUDAS PRIEST are rumored to joining forces for a summer tour. It should be noted, however, that this information has not yet been corrobated by an official source and should be considered a rumor only at this point.
Artisan News Service recently posted a short video interview with Vinny Appice in which he confirmed that the songwriting sessions for the new album from HEAVEN AND HELL will begin in April.
"We're doing another HEAVEN AND HELL, we're going to do a CD album, so we're going to start writing in April-May and I also have a little thing going on with my original band DERRINGER, the first band I played with in 1976," he said. "We're doing a little reunion tour. We got all these great offers and we thought we'd do it. So, it'll be a busy year."
Vinny even went on to say that the initial songwriting with HEAVEN AND HELL is going smooth as well.
"It was cool," he said. "Actually it's been over a year now. I went over there, to England in November and we got together and did three songs and it was great. After like five minutes it was like nothing, we were never apart after that, you know. It just went smooth as silk."
So what's it like playing with the legendary guitarist Tony Iommi on one side and the legendary bassist Geezer Butler on the other side?
"Those guys are, like, I mean it doesn't get much heavier than playing with Tony and Geezer," he said. "Tony on this side and Geezer on this side, it's just a wall of sound. And then you got Dio, who manages to sing over all that, it's just totally incredible. I'm in heaven...and hell."
HEAVEN AND HELL played the final show of its U.S. tour with ALICE COOPER and QUEENSRŸCHE on October 6, 2007 at the Verizon Wireless in Irvine, California. Before the encore, Indie 103.1's Full Metal Jackie presented the band with gold plaques on stage to honor U.S. sales in excess of 25,000 copies of the group's "Live at Radio City Music Hall" DVD. Vocalist Ronnie James Dio thanked the fans for their support, then dedicated the encore song ("Neon Knights") to veteran KNAC DJ Tawn Mastrey, who died in early October of liver failure brought on by hepatitis C.

Sabbat Prepare For First Ever U.S. Shows
UK thrash legends SABBAT are gearing up for their debut US gigs in April.
Formed in Nottingham, England in 1985, from the very beginning it was recognized that Sabbat had a special kind of talent. Disillusioned with the state of British heavy metal, which for several years had become increasingly more commercial and predictable, the band endeavoured from the outset to provide metal fans with music of the quality and originality that they personally would like to hear.
Too technical to be dubbed mere thrash, too thought provoking to be labeled black metal, Sabbat are their own masters. Their sound is built upon the blackened fury of early VENOM and the chaotic orchestration of MERCYFUL FATE, the razor riffing of classic METALLICA, EXODUS and SLAYER.
In May 1986 the quartet recorded their 'Fragments of a Faith Forgotten' demo. This demo was given excellent worldwide reviews and gained the attention of larger magazines which included a two-page colour feature in Kerrang! (issue 140).
A Radio One session, an invitation to record a flexi-disc for the fantasy gaming magazine White Dwarf, and extensive touring of the UK culminated in a recording contract with Noise International.
Sabbat unleashed their debut album History Of A Time To Come in early 1988 which was met with universal critical acclaim. No less than eighteen months later this was followed by the monumentous 'Dreamweaver', an ambitious project inter-twining the imaginative lyrical interpretation of the Brian Bates novel 'The Way of the Wyrd' and hailed to become the yardstick for an exciting new era of intelligent metal.
However, tensions within the band began to mount, due to musical differences, which ended with Walkyier leaving to form Skyclad in 1990 and Sneap going on to concentrate on production.
Having led the way for many to follow in their footsteps, Sabbat reformed for four shows across the UK in 2006 in support of their protégés Cradle of Filth and will now be playing select festivals throughout 2007.
Original bassist Frazer Craske recently decided not to continue with the reunion shows so the band has now drafted in ex-PRODIGY/ENGLISH DOGS guitar player Gizz Butt to add an extra depth to the already dense barrage of savage riffarama that the band became well known for in the late 80’s.
Sabbat's 2008 line-up:
Martin Walkyier – Vocals
Andy Sneap – Guitar
Simon Jones – Guitar
Gizz Butt – Bass
Simon Negus – Drums
Sabbat live dates:
April
13 - BB Kings - NY, NY
15 - The Pearl Room - Mokena Illinois
17 - Whiskey A Go Go - Los Angeles, CA
19 - Jaxxs Nightclub, W - Springfield, VA
Motorhead Mainman Slams Industry Bosses
According to Pr-inside.com, MOTÖRHEAD frontman LEMMY has hit out at record industry bosses for taking so long to adapt to the idea of selling music online. He insists the music business deserves its current sales slump - because executives have had years to figure out how to best promote music on the internet.
He tells Metal Edge magazine: "It's killing itself, isn't it? I mean, they (record companies) are too dumb to realise. I mean, it was fucking years ago that this started, and they just carried on doing what they were doing, blind to any advice, blind to any sort of evidence.
"They just kept on overcharging and kept on fucking people over, and now the chickens are coming home, you know? I think they're all gonna be out of business in 10 years."

Skinlab Complete New Album
SKINLAB vocalist/bassist Steev Esquivel has issued the following update:
"Skinned Alive! is complete and sounds bad ass. We've had this on the back burner until we could get to the mixes and finalize everything. I have to say, I'm glad we waited so long. Juan was able to put the energy and time into the mix to make everything sound great, we're very pleased with the outcome.
We recently signed a deal with BCD Music Group for the release of Skinned Alive! We're very pleased to be working with BCD, as they've shown nothing but excitement and enthusiasm about working with us. I have no doubt that they're gonna kick ass and market this album the way it should be. We'll keep you looped as we get closer to rockin' some Skinned Alive!
Speaking of Skinned Alive!, we've been added to the FORBIDDEN show on February 24th at The Fat Cat Modesto. We fuckin' stoked to play this show, couln't ask for a better show to start the New Year off with... see ya in the pit!
As far as the new album... we've been working really hard writing the new record. Everyone has really stepped up to the plate once again, the songs are coming together and starting to take on a life of their own. So far we've written 9 - 10 complete songs with a few others still taking shape. Probably the heaviest shit we've ever written, but at the same time very dynamic and emotional with tons of hooks and beatdown parts. We've taken a new approach this time around, we want this to be the heaviest, fastest, ugliest music we've ever written. At the same time it's our fourth full length record, it should show maturity and I think we accomplished that. With any luck we'll have this record out mid 2008."
Death Angel Announce Second Show With Forbidden
