Meshuggah Drummer Discusses New Album
Drummer Tomas Haake of the Swedish experimental extreme metallers MESHUGGAH recently spoke to Decibel magazine about the group's forthcoming CD, "obZen", due in Germany on March 7, 2008 via Nuclear Blast Records (with the U.S. release likely on March 11). The follow-up to 2005's "Catch Thirty Three" will contain nine songs and will have a running time of around 55 minutes.
Commented Haake: "The album is much more dense, while still being very clear and audible as far as drumparts and guitar riffs. Lyrically it's quite different from 'Catch Thirty Three', more diverse. There is, however, somewhat of a 'red line' or concept running through all of them." More...
The Project Hate Issue Update
Sweden's THE PROJECT HATE have issued the following update:
"As you have noticed, we have been a little silent here as of late. That's all thanx to not having access to the goddamn net for a month or so due to the incompetence of Swedish phone and internet companies. First off we wanna thank our fantastic webmaster Marko Saarelainen for throwing in some stuff here at the site and helping us out with so much promotion while we have been internetless. He is the king, we tell you. Thanks sister, it's a pleasure to have you work with us."
"In Hora Mortis Nostræ has been out now for a few months and as always the reactions are mixed, just as expected. We know we have made a fantastic album and obviously the Haters understand that as well. Thanks for the awesome mails and everything that we have received from you guys and girls over the months, stating your admiration for what we do. We appreciate it more than we can express with words. Again, thank you so much." More...
Rage Film Two New Videos
Shortly before Christmas, German power metallers RAGE shot two video clips for their new album, "Carved in Stone", featuring the songs "Lord of the Flies" and "Open My Grave". According to the band, "while 'Lord of the Flies' is a dark and occult clip with a lot of actors and guests (like singer Jen Majura), 'Open My Grave' presents more the musicians of the band on their instruments. The location was a very old basement cavity from the beginning of the 18th century, which is located under a whorehouse! You can imagine, that the boys had a couple of guests while their stay. The clips were produced by Katja Piolka, who had RAGE in front of her lenses already before."
Check out photos from the video shoot at this location.
RAGE will release "Carved in Stone" in Europe on February 22, 2008 via Nuclear Blast Records. More...

Novembers Doom Discuss New DVD
Chicago metallers, Novembers Doom, discuss their upcoming DVD in the following update:
"For a small underground metal band from Chicago, we have found ourselves in unreal situations and have met people across the world who believe in us, sometimes more then we do ourselves. Carl Grillet, owner of the metal store chain "Metal Zone" in Europe has become one of the best things to happen to us. Without his hard work, and belief in the band, we wouldn't have some of the opportunities we have had, so to us, Carl is a part of the ND family. Because of him, we were again given an opportunity to travel to Europe and tour. The original plan for this tour was 2 weeks, and the lineup would be Novembers Doom, Ajattara, Thurisaz, and Woods of Ypres. In my opinion, a stunning lineup."
"Then, we had the idea of finally shooting our live DVD we've talked about for years now. We thought about recording it here in Chicago, then considered Toronto, or New York. We wanted to perform in front of the best possible crowd for us. We chose to play where we actually feel the most at home... Vosselaar, Belgium." More...

"Only, this time things will be done a lot different than before." More...

Finnish metallers NORTHER have issued the following update:
"So I guess you have all heard the news about our new album 'N'. Hopefully we can also confirm the U.S. release quite soon. We shot our new video some time ago and it is starting to be ready. It's looking damn good and will be something a way cooler than we've ever done before. We did the video with Tunne Productions, check out what other they have done before us. I must say that besides being really pro guys they were also really nice and everything went smoothly. We will soon start tuning our set to the Finnish Metal Expo. That will be our very first show with the new material from 'N'. We have been negotiating about a possible European tour (including UK) in the early spring, let's hope that all goes well and we can confirm it soon." More...

Agalloch Post New Song Online
Pacific Northwest band AGALLOCH has issued the following update:
"We've recently posted a new song ('Sowilo Rune') from our upcoming EP, 'The White EP', to be released by Vendlus Records on February 29. As with all of our EPs and limited releases, this is not necessarily a sign of things to come. We envision small releases as opportunities to experiment and try new things without the weighty demands of a full-length release. So, expect a different sound, but also expect something that sits nicely with the rest of our work. You may pre-order 'The White EP' here.
"In the meantime, we are looking ahead at a fourth album and will post updates when necessary. Lastly, we've posted our cover of 'Kneel To The Cross' by one of our favorite groups, SOL INVICTUS. If you have yet to hear the original, we encourage you to seek out their album 'Death of the West'. However, most of us agree that SOL INVICTUS' best album remains 'The Blade'."
Inocula To Enter Studio In March
Chicago-based melodic death metal outfit INOCULA has issued the following update:
"As of now, we are closing in on writing the final song to our CD, 'Suntelia Aeon', recording dates are scheduled for March at Karma Studios in Richmond, Virginia and produced by Cory Smoot (GWAR, MUNICIPAL WASTE, MENSREA). We're hoping to pump out 12 or 13 tracks and we are making a video for one track (still to be decided) that will be included on the release of the album. So far the songs are sounding fantastic. We couldn't be happier with the way things are going, including our newer sound... Once the CD is finished, there will be a listening party set up somewhere here around Chicagoland in April and we hope to see everyone attending. Also, after the CD being complete, we are planning out our tour which we are aiming to go on by summer time here in North America and there may be some European dates too."

Metsatöll's New Album For February, 2 Songs Online
Metsatöll recently posted the following update (with long-winded intro):
"Throughout the ages it has been under way. Life has carried itself. Carried secrets in itself... Carried life through life. Ourselves among the bearers. Together we have come from the unknown and are heading... This path begins somewhere and it will lead on to somewhere... to the finite and the endless, in ourselves and in those who will follow... The thirst for life spurs one to heave the fertility stone... to blow life's sparks into a roaring flame, to find answers in oneself to the most primeval roots that fall speechless before our questions. To questions that rise swords and let them fall again, feel harsh fangs and blow warmth to frozen hearts. A human being's questions to life. And the answers scour wild expanses and the frozen high seas, and roam among people and the inner flame..."
