Defleshed Signs With Metal Blade Records

Metal Blade is proud to welcome Defleshed to its Worldwide roster. From the mid-90s to 2005, Sweden‘s Defleshed churned out a hot blend of thrash, death metal and grindcore, marking themselves as one of the most vital bands in all three of those genres. Having run out of inspiration and wanting to try other things they called it a day the same year they released their fifth album Reclaim The Beat, and ever since fans have hollered for their reunion. In 2021 they got what they were asking for when the band‘s core lineup - guitarist Lars Löfven, drummer Matte Modin and bassist/vocalist Gustaf Jorde - got back together. They released the Fleshless And Wild single the same year and are now looking forward to releasing another full-length in the fall!

Comments Defleshed: "We are excited to announce that Metal Blade will be releasing our first album in 17 years, 'Grind Over Matter!' Having been fans of bands on this label since our teenage years, it's an honour to be added to their roster. Earlier this year we recorded 11 songs with Lawrence Mackrory at Rorysound in Uppsala, Sweden, which we are thrilled to share with you in the fall. Fast forward!"

"Grind Over Matter" will be released October 28th via Metal Blade Records. Stay tuned for the first videos and singles to drop over the summer!

Unearthing the Metal Underground: Ritual Dictates

Vancouver’s formidable duo that operates under the moniker that is Ritual Dictates has technically been in existence since 2014. However aside from their debut album “Give In To Despair” that was released in 2020, they haven’t left much of a trace at all. But that album was one hell of a release, undoubtably unique and adventurous, to say the lease. They seem to have hit their stride now, though, as they’re poised to release their sophomore album, “No Great Loss,” on October 7 through Artoffact Records. More...

Eleine Reveals New EP Details

A good song has to work in whatever environment it is staged – be it in a full-blown stadium or intimate acoustic setting. Swedish dark symphonic metal high-flyers ELEINE have internalized this little piece of wisdom and rooted it deep within their artistic integrity. There’s no other way to explain their effortless shift between their bombastic side and the deeply spellbinding acoustic guise they present on their brand-new EP "Acoustic in Hell" that will be released on October 14th via Atomic Fire Records – right in time for their anticipated acoustic tour with metal veterans Sonata Arctica.

"We had never done acoustic versions of our music before, so approaching this challenge was something new to us," says Madeleine. "The main thing we had in mind for these versions was to keep the essence of our metal, to keep it raw and authentic. There is weight to our music, and it’s important not to make it overproduced and cute when you get this opportunity," Rikard adds.

Graced by a stunning cover artwork created by Nestor Avalos and Madeleine Liljestam herself, "Acoustic in Hell" sees the Swedish hopefuls take songs from their three lauded full-lengths, "Eleine" (2015), "Until the End" (2018) and 2020’s genre favorite "Dancing in Hell", strip them down and extract their raw, dark essence. "It took a lot re-arranging. We wanted to keep it raw and authentic but still give the acoustic versions their own identity" Rikard says. "Yes, and as I always say to the guys: I have to feel it in my hips!," Madeleine adds. “This applies to the acoustic versions even more." More...

1914 Re-Releasing Two Albums On Tape

Today, Ukrainian blackened death/doom metal visionaries 1914 have announced the re-release of their highly acclaimed debut album, "Eschatology Of War," as well as their sophomore album, "The Blind Leading The Blind." Both releases will now be available on cassette tape, limited to 200 copies per title and available exclusively via Napalm Records mailorder.

Profits of these limited edition cassette tapes will be donated to the band directly in order to support their country in the ongoing war.

1914 states:
"Just like a hundred years ago, Ukraine is at war again. As a hundred years ago - the enemy is the same. Then, during the Great War, we were part of the Great European Family - the Habsburg Empire. Now we are fighting for our right to return to the great family of European nations. We are fighting for the right to exist, to live, to joy, to raise children and dream about the future. We sang about the Great War until this war came to our home and became a part of our everyday life. But we do not give up and the whole world is on our side, your help is incredibly important to us. All funds raised from the sales of these albums will go to support Ukraine in its fight against the invaders. Make your contribution to the fight against imperialism and tyranny! Remember - One day the empire will fall! A tyrant's overthrow is the only acceptable way!"

The albums can be ordered here. More...

Defacing God To Release Debut Album In September

Extreme melodic death metal upstarts Defacing God command notice with their hauntingly dark and refreshingly honest debut album, "The Resurrection of Lilith," set for release on September 2, 2022 via Napalm Records. The record marks a multifaceted, grim and bludgeoning escape that spans the arc between raw death metal and symphonic grandiosity with ease, showcasing DEFACING GOD’s ambition to bewitch metal fans around the world with their sonic universe.

With their conceptual themes, the Denmark based outfit focuses on the seeping darkness that moves in us all – rooted in occultism and witchcraft, but primarily the mythologically mysterious female demon Lilith and her tales of fervent defiance and perseverance.

Opening this infernal chapter, Defacing God have unveiled their first single, "Rise Of The Trinity," along with a fiery official music video. The track ascends into a doom-tinged introduction, soon transforming into a blackened opus carried by the fierce growls of stand-out vocalist Sandie ‘The Lilith’ Gjørtz. Engulfing symphonics and a captivating guitar solo keep pressing ahead, resulting in an epic anthem celebrating feminist power and sisterhood!

Defacing God on the song:
"The message of 'Rise Of The Trinity' is to catch up on the three previous tracks, ‘the invocations’ and bind them together – This track reunites the sisters of blood and flesh (Abyzou, Jezebel and Lilith) the three of us shall set our essence free and together we shall make a closure and take back our pride. The trinity is the kind of catalysator who speaks for all our cremated sisters - fellow witches who never got a voice through times and history. Strong and wise women have been slaughtered, molested, executed and abused, just because the herd were scared of their wisdom and free spirit. This trinity is the voice of rebellion and revenge in the name of the fallen and a strong message that we stand stronger if we stand together." More...
