Doyle Signs With EMP To Release New Album

Former Misfits guitarist Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein has signed a label and distribution deal with EMP Label Group, who will not only release "As We Die" - the upcoming sophomore LP from Doyble - but also distribute all releases for the guitarist’s label Monsterman Records.

EMP President David Ellefson comments: “I’ve always loved Doyle and we’ve had a great relationship that goes back a long time. We’d started some talk last year when Doyle and Alissa (White-Gluz) came out to do some stuff with Metal Allegiance, and it just became an ongoing conversation over the past year. Now that it’s official, we’re extremely excited to be able to not only push out this new DOYLE record, which is amazing, but all the killer Monsterman titles via EMP.”

Says Doyle, “When Dave came to me with an offer for our new CD 'As We Die' it was a no brainer. He has been a good friend of mine for 20 + years, and has never done me wrong, and in this business that’s unheard of. We didn’t want to release it ourselves on Monster Man, we wanted a bigger push and EMP has a lot of exciting things happening in 2017 that will do that for us.”

Doyle - the current project of Von Frankenstein with Cancerslug vocalist Alex “Wolfman” Story, and a current lineup rounded out by bassist Brandon Strate and drummer Brandon Pertzborn - continues the lineage of Doyle’s former projects, pairing crushing metal riffs with ferocious punk rock swagger and the theatrical intensity one would expect from one of the reigning kings, and erstwhile creators, of horrorcore. Bands Reflect On David Gold's Passing

Five years ago the metal scene lost a champion when David Gold from Woods Of Ypres died in a car crash.

Now on the fifth anniversary of that sad event, bands from around the world are sharing their remembrances of David and their thoughts on how Woods Of Ypres influenced them.

Wallachia had this to say: "December 21st - The longest night of the year. In memory of David Gold from Woods of Ypres. 5 years ago on this date, David was tragically killed in a roadside accident on the Canadian Highway, on the way home to unite with his family for the Holidays.

"David was one of the nicest persons I've ever been in touch with in the underground music scene, and he was so enthusiastic over the fact that his music had reached far up North - to the lands were a lot of his own influences came from.

"Woods of Ypres is by far the band that has influenced me the most during this past decade, and a lot of David's songs and lyrics feel tailor-made to my own personality and life experiences.
Thank you, David, for continuing to inspire and enlighten even now after your passing. Rest in Ypres, my friend." More...

Teloch Vovin Releases Winter Solstice Track

Teloch Vovin just issued the latest installment of the ongoing "Psalms Ov Khaos" sequence, offering "Filius Dei Sum Nihil, Sum Non" on this Winter Solstice.

The New York-based coven began the "Psalms Ov Khaos" singles series on the 2015 Winter Solstice, having released a new song in the sequence on each changing of the seasons since. The intent of the series is to shed further black light upon the electronic and ambient instrumentation and ritualistic elements of the band's primal, occult black metal attack.

The band comments: "'Filius Dei Sum Nihi, Sum Non' translates to, 'I am a son of the nothingness, I have none.' Sum none-I have none, is a name of Initiation and relates here to having no god(s) over you but a connection to the Gods of the Primal Void thru the Self."

The art for the track was painted by band ally Joshua Guandique, inspired by a vision he had from the band's music. The next installment of "Psalms Ov Khaos" of course sees release on the Spring 2017 Equinox. Stay tuned! More...

Witherscape Issues Year End Update

As the year 2016 wraps up, Swedish progressive death metal duo Witherscape looks back to the much acclaimed release of sophomore full-length album "The Northern Sanctuary" via Century Media Records (check out our review here).

With many year-end polls mentioning the outstanding quality of this album (including ours!), Witherscape now releases another track off "The Northern Sanctuary." Check out "Marionette" below.

Dan Swanö comments the song as follows: "Sometimes a song can take some unexpected twists and turns and what started out as an acoustic ballad, inspired by a very strange guitar tuning, turned into one of the first shoe-gaze/death/doom/A.O.R. ballads that the world has ever heard. The reactions to this track have been some of the strongest from any other track from any other band I have been in. There are several reports from tears of joy, goosebumps and other pleasant experiences when listening to this track, and if you, just like me, love 'Leprosy' by Death as much as Journey's 'Frontiers' well, then you are in for a sonic treat ;)"

Swanö also sent over a quick message about the fading year 2016 and a preview for 2017 as follows: "My musical highlights from 2016 are...Finishing off and releasing the 2nd Witherscape album 'The Northern Sanctuary.' By far the most satisfying metal experience of my life so far! And also to see that the album even found its way to the #1 spot on some year lists makes all the hard work extra worthwhile! More...

Finnish theatrical metal act Lost In Grey issued a music video for the new song "Dark Skies." The song is taken from the upcoming debut album "The Grey Realms," which drops on March 3rd via NoiseArt Records.

Lost In Grey was founded back in 2013 around front man Harri Koskela and is inspired by symphonic and folk Metal, but also by film soundtracks and the beautiful nature in Northern Finland.

The story of "The Grey Realms" is as important as the music itself. Divided into three chapters, not unlike the classical stage play, Lost In Grey knit a complex story about Lillian, a woman trying to escape the cruelty in the world and getting to a paradise-like place, 'The Grey Realms.'

Telling the story, Harri Koskela (also keyboard), Emily Leone (also violin) and lyricist Anne Lill Rajala play the characters within the story and bring a very own touch to it through their diverse voice talents. Witness the unbelievable talent of each and every one band member in three acts, making this extraordinary debut album a diverse and at the same time unique experience.
