Tygers Of Pan Tang Releasing Self-Titled Album

Tygers Of Pan Tang's self-titled new album is finally coming to North American for fans on February 24th. Following an already successful European launch, band founder/guitarist Robb Weir notes, "its been 34 years since a USA Tygers release and we are super excited to give you this one... it's a monster!"

Who would have predicted that 2016 would turn out to be the most productively successful year since their early days for a band whose history stretches back to the birth of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal?

The year began the signing of a new record deal with Scandinavia’ Mighty Music. Whilst the band was happy to produce at The Blast Studio in Newcastle, the Tygers knew that the mix needed a fresh pair of ears.

Mighty Music CEO Michael H. Andersen recommended Soren Andersen/Medley Studio for the mixing. Soren was only too happy to work with a band whose credentials were so firmly established. For the mastering, Harry Hess of Harem Scarem fame was the perfect man for the job. More...

Ruby The Hatchet Finishes Recording Album

Philly heavy psych quintet Ruby The Hatchet has completed work on a new album. The as-yet-untitled album is slated for a spring 2017 release via Tee Pee Records.

The bewitching rock troop featuring vocalist Jillian Taylor, guitarist Johnny Scarps, bassist Lake Muir, drummer Owen Stewart and organist Sean Hur, recorded this album in an 1800's era estate deep in the Pennsylvania woods with engineers Joe Boldizar (Retro City Studios) and Zach Goldstein (Kawari Sound).

"Setting up shop and recording ourselves in an 1800's era estate has been a pleasure and a labor," comments Taylor. "We built the studio in house from the ground up – mostly Sean (organ), with help from our friends at Kawari Sound and Retro City Studios. From homemade preamps to third floor room mics hidden in echo chambers, the tones on this album are truly vintage. Putting ourselves into seclusion provided a process that influenced the album's sound, allowing us to create our own pocket of deep space rock inside of a time warp where everything else stopped - politics, personal shit, the day-to-day worries that tarnish the soul…all gone. This album is like nothing we have ever made before."

More details on Ruby The Hatchet's upcoming album will be released soon. For now, the band will launch a U.S. tour alongside labelmates Earthless on December 2nd in Chicago, IL. Dates are as follows: More...

Kratornas Posts Album Preview

Before the new Kratornas album "Devoured By Damnation" is unleashed on December 8th via Grathila Records, today an album preview has come online featuring snippets from the release. Check it out below. The following press release was also issued about the band:

"Bursting out of the metal underground with a third-world fury not seen since the mighty Sepultura unleashed their seminal ‘Beneath ‘The Remains’, Kratornas are set to make a devastating onslaught on the world of metal.

"If any band has ever earned its chance it is Kratornas , the brainchild of a certain Zachariah. He began Kratornas in the early 90's despite dealing with problems many Western bands never encounter like crime, corruption, poverty, lack of equipment, or even an outlet to buy records! Truly we can see why Kratornas are inspired by real-life horrors. Zachariah’s love of metal was born from tape-trading. To put Zachariah’s glacial patience in perspective, after many primitive demos, Kratornas’ debut album was finally released in 2007! In 2011, Zachariah left the Philippines to seek a place more friendly to his art, finally settling in Canada. More...

Dealer Announces "Billionaire Boys Club"

The exact moment of Dealer’s formation is almost impossible to pin down. Lost in a fug of thick smoke, alcohol and noise; somewhere and someplace out of time and mind.

Tentatively starting out life as Sexless – featuring founding member Kevin Klausen on guitar/vocals and fellow Los Angelean Samantha Mancino on drums – the duo would make a habit of throwing open jam sessions to anyone in earshot. Years prior and by his own admission, Klausen had lost heart after numerous false starts attempting to form his own band and gave up on making music to assume the mantle of tour manager for close friends, The Shrine. Helping the band across Europe and struck by their professionalism, after years on the road he returned in the Spring of 2013 with a handful of songs and a newfound focus.

“After seeing all these straight ahead rock and roll bands everywhere we went, I was really eager to start my own project but wanted to do something totally different,” explains Klausen. “We started out as this grungy weirdo dissonant punk band. In the early days we treated it more like a sort of art statement rather than a categorical band, it was really abstract and fun but in a way very naive.” More...

Sliptrick Records Inks Deal With Dark Rites

Sliptrick Records welcomes international thrash/melodic death metal act Dark Rites to the roster for the worldwide release of the self-titled debut album coming soon. ,

Dark Rites was founded by Randy (USA) and Wojtek (UK) in early 2016. Despite its members living in different continents, technology has enabled the band to overcome all possible geographical obstacles. After playing in several local bands in the late 90’s and late 2000’s, Randy and Wojtek soon teamed up with Oskar (ex-Disrupted, Sweden), thus completing the line-up.

The debut full-length delivers a fresh yet deadly combination of death Metal, melodic lines and powerful riffs, combined with fierce thrash tempos, traditional solos and powerful vocals.

All of the songs are strongly autobiographical, with lyrics inspired by the band’s beliefs, views and fascinations. Their common passion for metal music – in all of its different facets and sub-genres – really shines throughout the entire length of the record.

More information on the album is expected soon. More...

Place Vendome Announces "Close To The Sun" Album

Frontiers Music Srl is excited to announce the release of the brand new Place Vendome album, “Close to the Sun” on February 24th, 2017.

One of the most popular projects put together over the years by Frontiers' President Serafino Perugino, Place Vendome was an idea sparked during a phone conversation between Serafino and former Helloween singer Michael Kiske, where they discussed their common passion for several melodic rock giants of the 80’s. The Hamburg singer agreed to be part of a studio project where he would sign songs written especially for him by various writers with an AOR/melodic rock flavor.

The amazing reception of the first Place Vendome album released in 2005 planted the seeds for a second recording, “Streets of Fire," which was recorded during 2008 and for a third album, “Thunder in the Distance,” which was released in 2013. Being a project so close to Kiske’s heart, it was agreed during 2016 that work on a new album would start with his Unisonic (official) bandmate Dennis Ward at the production helm, as usual. More...

Anneke Van Giersbergen Launches New Band VUUR

Renowned Dutch vocalist Anneke van Giersbergen (The Gentle Storm/ex-The Gathering) has announced the formation of a brand new band under the name of VUUR, which was created as a vehicle for the heavy progressive metal side of her career. Joining her will be familiar faces: Ed Warby (drums) (The Gentle Storm/Hail of Bullets), Marcela Bovio (vocals) (Stream Of Passion), Johan van Stratum (Stream Of Passion), Jord Otto (guitars) (Re-Vamp) and Ferry Duijsens (guitars) (The Gentle Storm/Leaves' Eyes).

In early 2016, Anneke decided for the sake of clarity to narrow her musical focus, choosing to go in a folk acoustic direction as a solo artist and in a heavy progressive metal direction as a band vocalist. The name VUUR - translated from Dutch as "fire", which can also be interpreted to mean "passion" or "drive" - was chosen as a moniker to represent Anneke's metal side, with the idea that when fans buy a ticket with the VUUR name on it they will be getting her heavy progressive music, while an Anneke van Giersbergen show will be entirely different. Thus, in order to give VUUR's kick-off the proper fanfare, Anneke has opted to take a break from performing in the first half of 2017. More...

Ex People Streaming New Single "Without"

East London, UK's stoner/doom metal four-piece Ex People premieres the band's self-released single "Without". Says the band about the new track:

"There’s a healthy dose of grunge, a slab of sludge and doom. Squalling noise rock. A bit of kraut. The drums swing, Jaki Liebzeit (of Can) fashion and Laura’s pissed off banshee vocals will both scare you, and hook you in. Taking their cue from bands like Windhand, Melvins, Electric Wizard and Kylesa, and mashing it with their own existential vibe, these songs will burrow their way into your brain, by way of carefully and fiendishly constructed hooks. So immerse yourself in the murky sonic world of Ex People, you won’t be sorry.”
