Velvet Revolver Forced To Change Opening Show

The city of West Hollywood, CA has declined a permit for VELVET REVOLVER to perform Tuesday night, October 12 atop the Hustler Hollywood store, Larry Flynt's adult emporium on the Sunset Strip. Flynt, whom the band feel embodies the true rebellious spirit of rock 'n roll, had signed off on the band's wish to perform a set of songs from their platinum Contraband album for fans before heading out of town to launch their national concert tour Saturday, October 16.

The band will instead perform Wednesday night, October 13 at Parking Lot in the Southwest corner of Selma and Ivar, Hollywood, CA. Show starts at 8pm.

Cryptopsy US Tour Rescheduled, New Dates

Due to the cancellation of CRYPTOPSY's originally planned November US Tour, the Canadians were forced to push dates back through until 2005. The CRYPTOPSY, CATTLE DECAPITATION, THE AUTUMN OFFERING US tour dates so far are as follows:

Nodes Of Ranvier Writing New Material

Nodes Of Ranvier are currently home writing material for their new album. The record will be recorded at Cat House Studios in Sioux Falls, SD this winter and should be available in April 2005 through Facedown Records. According to guitarist Jake Stefek, "Our new material is the heaviest we have put out yet. We are putting alot of time into this album and are super excited to record in December." You can download a live version of one of their new songs.

Kids Like Us Sign To Eulogy Recordings

Northern Florida hardcore/punk band Kids Like Us have officially joined the Eulogy Recordings roster. Formed after the demise of xOneFifthx, the group has previously put out two releases with Knife Or Death Records and will release a new full-length with Eulogy in Spring 2005. In the meantime, you can download one of their older songs here.

Candiria Come Back From The Dead

Candiria have returned from a two-year hiatus and things have clearly changed.

July marked the release of What Doesn't Kill You... an opus that destroys any notion folks thought they had about this Brooklyn band, who have taken their style of extreme hardcore to completely unexpected levels.

The change in music reflects the difficulties the band have been through in the past couple of years. Besides feuding with former labels, in September of 2002 Candiria were involved in a van collision with an 18-wheeler while touring, nearly killing the entire band — hence the title of the new album.

Heaven Shall Burn Wave The Metalcore Flag

Hardcore has always been the stomping ground for pseudo-intellectual commentary. From the likes of Fugazi and Black Flag through to more modern mouthpieces like Strife and Earth Crisis, the genre has been the place where people could speak their mind on a social level.

That’s why it was only a matter of time before hardcore and heavy metal’s bastard son metalcore took the reins. Strangely, this world is divided between those who base their lyrical perspective on the guts, ghosts and gore of metal and bands who're flagwavers for whatever cause.

Germany’s Heaven Shall Burn didn’t just jump to the cause. They grabbed it by the throat. Utilizing their third effort Antigone as a means of generating political and global consciousness without sacrificing the passion and primal thrust of the genre, their "take no prisoners" attitudes has thrust them into the metalcore spotlight.

"We don’t want to be big artists or show how greatly we can play our solos," grunts lead singer Marcus Bischoff. "We just want to hit you in the face with our music. We want to spread our rage to the people and take them with us." More...
