Hell On Earth Comments On FL Suicide Loopholes

Hell On Earth is reporting on their website, loopholes and flaws of the new suicide law. The law was designed to deter anyone from making certain political statements in support of physician-assisted suicide. It was unanimously approved by Florida Legislature, then signed into law by Gov. Jeb Bush on May 11, 2004 under statute 782.081 "commercial exploitation of self-murder." Under this law, anyone who conducts, provides a venue for, or deliberately assists in an event that includes an actual self-murder for commercial or entertainment purposes shall be guilty of manslaughter, a felony of the third degree, punishable by up to 5 years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

The band's website, www.hellonearth.net, reports on four specific loopholes and flaws within the new law that lawmakers failed to observe, one of which could actually implicate city and state officials with criminal penalties, fines and civil lawsuits.

A representative for the band asked, "Who are these lawmaking buffoons who unanimously approve ridiculous laws that create more problems then they solve?" He went on to say, "Hell On Earth is offering their consultation services to Florida legislators for their next lawmaking session."

Hell On Earth received international attention last year when Florida lawmakers banned them from playing their music in an attempt to stop a terminally ill fan from committing suicide on-stage at their show as a political statement in support of physician-assisted suicide.

New Annihilator DVD Coming Early Next Year

Annihilator guitarist/mastermind Jeff Waters has posted this message on the band's official forum:

So far, asides from the mountain of old footage me and the Campbell Bros. are going through, I can tell ya one cool section that will be on the "Annihilator: Ten Years In Hell" DVD (due for release sometime in the early spring 2005):

Many former members have filmed themselves talking about their time and memories in Annihilator and what they are doing now. This includes already-done footage from Mike Mangini, Coburn Pharr, Neil Goldberg and others.

Still to come, footage from Ray Hartman, The Glove, Russ Bergquist, Aaron Randall, Rampage and others!

I am still trying to contact Randy Black and Wayne Darley, to name a few. Randy B. is not sure he wants to be included on this dvd, despite offering him a long segment where he could play you fans some Annihilator tunes, talk about his drumming, his many years with the band and what he is doing now (Primal Fear and drum clinics). I know you all would love to see him in this; me too! C'mon Randy! The world's best drummer = Mike Mangini and Annia-Drum-Legend = Ray Hartman are in; we need ya too cause you are right up there with the big-guys and kicked hard for Annihilator too!!

Gonna be a cool thing; trying to get some live footage of the Never, Neverland line-up and the Dynamo fest in Holland, from MTV Europe! That would be cool but lotsa killer stuff will be on this; almost thinking of doing 2 dvds.

Gonna make a decision on the company that will do this, this week. been waiting for one of the labels for many weeks so decision-time is here!

Crystal Eyes Singer Leaves

Swedish power metal band Crystal Eyes have posted this press release on their official website:

After twelve years as the lead singer of Crystal Eyes Mikael Dahl will now hand over the job on the new album "Confessions Of The Maker" to former Lost Horizon vocalist Daniel Heiman. Daniel and Mikael have known each other since the early 90s when they played together in a cover band. Daniel sang the lead vocals on the song "The Wizard's Apprentice" on Crystal Eyes latest album "Vengeance Descending," and he agreed already several months ago to sing on one or two songs on the new album. A few weeks ago Mikael approached Daniel about singing on the entire album, which he thought was a great idea and accepted. Daniel IS one of the best singers in the world, and Mikael have at several occasions said that if he would let someone else handle the lead vocals in Crystal Eyes it would be Daniel. Everyone is really excited, and we truly believe that this will bring Crystal Eyes to a whole new level.

Crystal Eyes drummer Stefan Svantesson began laying down the tracks for the new album last Friday, October 15 at Andy La Roqcue's (King Diamond) studio, Los Angered Recordings, in Gothenburg, Sweden. The rest of the band will start working full time in their own studio, Crystal Sounds, on Novemeber 1 and the plan is to have a first mix ready by the end of November.

Mattias Norén (Kotipelto, Jag Panzer, Evergrey, Into Eternity) has just delivered the artwork for "Confessions Of The Maker". A posting on the band's website reads "Most of you are probably quite familiar with Mattias' earlier work, so it shouldn't be a surprise that it differs a lot from Crystal Eyes' previous albums. It has a quite dark overall feeling to match the mood of some of the lyrics on the album, especially of course the title song's." Check out the album cover here.

Iron Maiden Singer Goes "Trainspotting"

According to a posting on the Iron Maiden fan site MaidenFans.com, Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson will be a special guest of the "Trainspotting" show on the U.K. TV channel Discovery Home and Leisure on Friday, October 22.

A brief description of the show reads as follows: "Presenter Mark Collins teams up with heavy metal legend and Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinso on a steam train driving day at the Bluebell Railway."

The channel is available on Sky Digital, cable or broadband.

As previously reported, Dickinson will be hosting a five-part documentary series about airplanes, tentatively titled "Flying Heavy Metal", that is being produced by the U.K.-based Ricochet production company.

The upcoming series is being described as follows: "Iron Maiden rock legend and professional pilot Bruce Dickinson charts the evolution of the passenger aeroplane, the documentary is made for Discovery Channel and will be a series of five 30-minute features."

The production gives a winter 2005 timeframe, but Eric Fetter — who penned an article about the series for the The Herald — kindly told Maidenfans.com that "as far as an air date in Europe, Bruce said he expects it to be on there in February. It may also show on the Discovery Channel [in the U.S.], but that's still up in the air."
