Satyricon To Hold Drummer Auditions In Los Angeles
Norwegian black metallers SATYRICON will be auditioning drummers in Los Angeles the last week of November (possibly Nov. 24-25) to join them on tour in North America during the coming months.
The never-ending saga of SATYRICON drummer Frost's inability to enter the U.S. due to heightened homeland security has forced SATYRICON frontman Satyr to seek a temporary touring replacement. The band will still be utilizing the services of SLIPKNOT's Joey Jordison on their upcoming headlining U.S. trek, which is scheduled to kick off December 2 in San Francisco, CA.
All drummers interested in auditioning for SATYRICON should contact Hamps Koulayan at the group's record label, EatUrMusic: hamps@eaturmusic.com.

Slayer Confirms Raining Blood Dates, DVD Details
SLAYER has announced the cities on the group's upcoming Jagermeister Music Tour that will include the "Wall of Blood." At these select shows (determined by each venue's technical specifications) during Slayer's classic song "Raining Blood," the band, their instruments, and the stage will be drenched by a downpour of "blood." The "Wall of Blood" will rain more than 150 litres of theatrical blood over an area measuring from 32-feet to 40-feet wide (determined by the size of the venue¹s stage), 25-feet high, and six-feet deep. The device is a dedicated truss and sprinkler system that utilizes a unique pump technology, and was designed exclusively for Slayer by UK-based Hangman Productions.
Slayer used the "raining blood" effect last July in Augusta, ME while filming their brand-new DVD, "Still Reigning." The Dean Karr-directed DVD opens with the the band's 1986, 28-minute benchmark album "Reign In Blood" performed live in its entirety by Slayer's original line-up - Tom Araya (vocals, bass), guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, and drummer Dave Lombardo, who permanently rejoined the band in 2003. "Still Reigning" also offers bonus material including live performances of Slayer classics such as "War Ensemble," "Hallowed Point," "Necrophobic," "Mandatory Suicide," "Spill The Blood," "Hell Awaits," and "South of Heaven," as well as exclusive interviews and backstage footage. "Still Reigning" has a running time of more than 80-minutes and a confirmed November 2, 2004 release date.
The entire Jagermeister itinerary is listed below with "*" indicating those cities that will get the "Wall of Blood." (As recently reported, Slayer has cancelled several tour dates from their upcoming North American tour.) More...

Euro Doctor Recommends Slayer Dates Cancelled
Under doctor's recommendation, SLAYER has had to cancel four dates on its U.S. Jagermeister Music Tour. The cancelled dates are the tour's kick-off, Friday, October 29 in Springfield, MO, Saturday, October 30 in Des Moines, IA, Tuesday, November 9 in Belle Vernon (Pittsburgh), PA, and Friday, November 26 in Tampa, FL.
Having just completed co-headlining the 20-date, sold-out "Unholy Alliance" European tour with Slipknot, Slayer's vocalist/bassist Tom Araya was taken to the hospital last Wednesday in Holland immediately following the band's performance. The doctors there diagnosed Araya with vocal fatigue, and directed that he completely rest his voice - no singing, no talking - for at least a week. In addition, the doctors cautioned Araya to not sing more than four consecutive nights, or he could risk doing irreparable damage to his vocal cords. Hence, the cancellation of the Belle Vernon and Tampa dates.
Araya and his Slayer bandmates - Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman/guitars and drummer Dave Lombardo - are confident that staying true to the schedule of no more than four consecutive shows will eliminate the possibility of any other dates being cancelled on the Jagermeister tour.
The Slayer-headlined Jagermeister Music Tour will now kick off on Halloween, Sunday, October 31 in St. Louis at The Pageant (Mastadon and Killswitch Engage support). The updated Slayer/Jagermeister tour is as follows: More...

Trivium Studio Update And More
Trivium sent out a studio update. Here's the meat of it:
Paul Romano, Work Hardened Studios (http://www.workhardened.com/) will be doing all of the artwork/graphics for our upcoming CD ASCENDANCY slated for a February 2005 release. Matt provided Paul with the original artwork, story & concept and Paul will take it to a whole 'nother level - what we have seen so far looks awesome.
Most of the studio work with Jason is completed - some clean up in progress right now, but the "screaming-ass" vocals, clean vocals, drums, bass, melodic guitars and solos are pretty much completed and sound pretty damn good. Next on the agenda is to deliver what we have to Andy Sneap - Backstage Productions/Studios (http://www.andysneap.com/) in Derbyshire, England. Travis & Matt will be leaving for England November 5th to work with Andy during the final mix and mastering of Ascendancy. This obviously will be a great learning experience - Andy has mixed/mastered/produced some great CD's so we can't wait to get started.
We are fans of the band Every Time I Die and recently we became aware of the situation they had when their "6th" member Jeff Stanahan roadie, merch man, great friend of the band became very seriously ill while on the road - Jeff is in a hospital in St. Louis hundreds of miles from home - he needs all of our help not only with our positive thoughts and prayers but in helping raise some additional money to offset his hospital bills. ETID tours their asses off and anyone who is in this game knows that is part of the drill - so when someone becomes ill and needs help it is important we all do what we can to help out - to donate to Jeff's cause and help him and his family out please click on this link BENEFIT INFORMATION FOR JEFF "Durst" STRANAHAN (http://www.tour-city.com/) to read the story and donate what you can to help out - we know it will be appreciated.

Brides Of Destruction To Go On Hiatus
Brides Of Destruction have announced plans to go on hiatus next year while bassist Nikki Sixx concentrates on the MÖTLEY CRÜE reunion tour. In an online posting, Brides Of Destruction guitarist Tracii Guns (ex-L.A. GUNS) wrote, "So, what do Scot, London and I do for the next year. Well, Ill tell ya. We are gonna go tour and write more tunes for the next BRIDES album. Whos gonna play bass?? Well, of course, Stevo Bruno is gonna play bass. As we set out on our journey we will not be called the Brides Of Destruction. We will probably be called something like TRACII GUNS' COCKSTAR or THE STUPID FUCKS or something like that. So youll be hearing some BRIDES tunes and some GUNS hits and some other junk as well. For now this is the plan. As we all know plans can change but this is what we want to do."
Another End Of The Road For Van Halen?
Andrew McNeice of MelodicRock.com reports: "The world of Van Halen is a fickle thing and the band have never been far from a headline. The guys are currently working their way through their last weeks of 2004 tour dates — shows that some never thought would happen.
"But they did, after the feud between vocalist Sammy Hagar and the Van Halen brothers was laid to rest earlier in the year. The guys finally hit the road again on the back of a new compilation that featured three new tracks.
"There have been numerous reports of problems within the band and just as many reports of Eddie Van Halen drunk on stage.
"Rumors flared again last week after Hagar appeared on U.S. radio station KSHE, stating in an interview that he thought the Van Halen reunion was fun, but it bought closure to that chapter. He went on to voice his unhappiness with the high ticket prices from the tour and how he wished some members of the band were into fan interaction as much as he was. It was implied that once the current dates were completed, Hagar would return to touring with THE WARBORITAS and the future of Van Halen would again be up in the air.
'What really is going on? What's next for Van Halen?
'The reality is that at this point — no one knows. But I for one am not hopeful of anything continuing once this leg of the 2004 tour concludes.
'Everything I am hearing from my sources — past, proven sources that have all contributed to past Van Halen reports — is negative. Everything I hear points to a band that is managing to function despite inner turmoil. And it seems all that turmoil is centered around Eddie Van Halen.
"It is no secret that Eddie is drinking heavily and has been since the start of the tour — that drinking and his subsequent behavior has put a major strain on relationships within the Van Halen organization. As one source put it — Eddie is 'unstable.' As a result, there are no band commitments planned past next month. Sammy Hagar is planning to tour with his solo band THE WARBORITAS and could be playing solo as early as December, with further plans being made for summer 2005.
"Apparently Hagar did not want the reunion to play out as it has, but would rather return to being a solo artist than tour with Van Halen under current circumstances. I am told there are no 2005 tour plans and no album plans. All will become a little clearer once the tour concludes next month.
"To sum up, everything I have heard points towards confirming what Sammy Hagar said on KSHE-FM last week. Once this tour is done, another chapter of the Van Halen history will close with it."
The Monolith Deathcult: We Are No Racists
Dutch brutal death metal band The Monolith Deathcult have issued a statement defending themselves against accusations that they are "known racists." Specificially, the band are speaking out in response to the following article posted at the Metalheads Against Racism web site by its webmaster, Mike Meier:
"The Dutch band The Monolith Deathcult is using the [Metalheads Against Racism] banner on their website. Funnily enough, there's no link to us, they've just got the banner on there. The Monolith Deathcult are known racists, I have talked to them on one of the Swiss metal message boards and made it abundantly clear what I think of them. I also know at least five people who have talked to them 'in real life' and heard them spout their racist shit. Putting the banner on their site is nothing but a hypocritical act of damage control because they're afraid nobody will book them for shows anymore now that most of the European [death metal] scene knows what a bunch of racists they are. I'm sure you'll notice they're conspicuously absent from our members list, and of course they've never contacted me about putting the banner on their site."
The Monolith Deathcult have responded to Meier's comments by issuing the following statement:
"When you write lyrics about the slaughter and killing of Christians, no one feels offended, but when you write lyrics against the radical Islam they call you a racist. That is the tolerant view of Metalheads Against Racism.
"Anyway, for the dumb, ignorant and radical left; Here we go again....
"We of The Monolith Deathcult are fully aware that certain historically accurate matters are quite sensitive in some countries.
"The Monolith Deathcult is NOT a political band. We distinguish between race and religion. We know that most people are too retarded to take a good look at our lyrics, but we refuse to lyrically adapt and limit ourselves to suit the IQ of the contemporary metal fan.
"The Monolith Deathcult treats historical happenings as they occured throughout the ages. Sometimes it happens that a topic is treated which certain people rather would not be reminded about because of the heinous deeds of their forefathers."
The Monolith Deathcult will release their sophomore album, "The White Crematorium", on January 24, 2005 through Karmageddon Media. The band, who recently announced the addition of touring member Carsten Altena to the group's ranks, released their debut album, "The Apotheosis", in 2002 through Cold Blood Industries. The band have previously toured Europe with the likes of The Crown and Skinless.
Theatre Of Tragedy Confirm European Tour

Led Zeppelin 'Biography' To Air In Early December
A Led Zeppelin "Biography" one-hour TV program will air on the A&E network on Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at 4:00 a.m. A show description reads as follows: "The story of the top rock band that got its name when drummer Keith Moon predicted how the band would go over with audiences after hearing their demo tapes. Led Zeppelin's first album reached number 10 on the charts in 1969, and their popularity continued to grow with each subsequent album. But they were among the most hedonistic of all rock bands, and their indulgences led to a series of tragedies that ultimately broke up the band. However, they rank second only to The Beatles in sales."
A&E's Emmy award-winning series "Biography" has been called "one of cable's true landmarks," bringing viewers a remarkable variety of profiles of important and interesting people, represented with depth, detail, and historical accuracy. "Biography" is the longest-running, single-topic documentary series on television.
Machine Head Italian Shows Postponed
Machine Head have been forced to postpone their previously announced shows in Rome and Vicenza (Oct. 25-26), Italy after their tour bus broke down on their way through Swiss Alps this weekend. "Machine Head extends their sincerest apologies, and are making all efforts to reschedule both shows for a later date," reads a posting on the group's web site. Behemoth's new CD, "Demigod," has entered the Polish album chart at position No. 15. The Polish black metallers' latest effort left behind such artists as R.E.M. and Robbie Williams, according to a posting on the group's website.

Mastering duties were handled at the Cutting Room studios in Stockholm. A guest appearance by Nile's Karl Sanders is included in the track "Xul".
Behemoth kicked off a European tour Krisiun, Incantation and Ragnarok on Thursday (Oct. 21) in Tilburg, the Netherlands. It's been awhile since we toured Europe last time but what is happening at the shows goes far beyond our expectations. Great turnouts, new album is selling like hell, the band seems to be in its best shape. Uranium Interview With Shadows Fall
Vocalist Brian Fair was asked to help launch Juliya from Uranium’s website, www.juliya.net, by answering 10 band related questions.
1. You guys incorporate both, traditional Heavy Metal as well as elements of Death Metal and Hardcore. You have been on tours of all types, which is the most aggressive scene?
It all depends on how you look at it. We did a tour once with Hatebreed, Six feet Under, Shadows Fall and Death Threat and that was probably the most brutal tour because it drew hardcore kids and death metal kids to the same show so all hell broke loose every night. Hardcore kids definitely dance harder but metal heads seem to hurt each other more but enjoy it. When you combine the two it is total insanity.
2. The beautiful thing about your music (especially in this record) is that you have a lot of old school style riffs which appeals to an older crown as well as a lot of modern crunchy riffs with melodic and deep growling aggressive vocals. Do you see a large variety in your audiences and which style is more fun for you?
We are influenced by every form of heavy music, from old school metal, to rock n roll to thrash and hardcore. We grew up playing both metal and hardcore so all of it will be incorporated in our sound. They are fun and I couldn't imagine limiting ourselves to on specific style. That would be come too repetitive for me.
3. Do you feel that you are bringing back the essence of traditional metal?
We are not trying to bring anything back, we just…
