Satyricon US Tour Plans, Including Joey Jordison

On December 2nd SATYRICON will kick off their second US tour of the year. The tour will include SLIPKNOT's Joey Jordison on drums, who will be acting as a replacement for drummer Frost who's inability to enter the US has been due to heightened homeland security. Frontman Satyr had this to say about touring the US, "Frost's Visa to enter the States case has made everything extremely difficult for us and there have even been times I've thought to give up on touring America.”

...but carried on to say, “I'm just very glad that we have a new tour lined up. I think all of our fans stateside will agree that SATYRICON deserve a better chance to establish the band and our style of music we believe in than, more so than we've had so far.

I think our music, our effort and all the people who believe in SATYRICON in the US want us to succeed and Joey Jordison is a good example of that. I never had to convince him that touring with Satyricon would be "cool". It was rather a question of overcoming the practical obstacles with Joey being a key member of a very successful band. His enthusiasm and skills are exactly what SATYRICON needs to raise the spirit in the camp. I have looked for drummers over here and most of them are afraid they can't match Frost's level of drumming so they pull out before we even get started with them. Joey and I have spent a lot of time making sure he is well prepared and it is nice to be able to fulfill the wishes of all the fans I talked to on the MORBID ANGEL tour who wanted to see us play in America. SATYRICON is coming back!"

Dates lined up so far include (subject to change): More...

The follow-up to 2002's "Symbol of Life," Paradise Lost was recorded primarily at Chapel Studios in Lincolnshire, England under the guidance of producer Rhys Fulber (Fear Factory, Front Line Assembly) and is the group's first to feature drummer Jeff Singer (ex-Blaze). Singer joined the group in May as the replacement for Lee Morris, who left the band in March due to "personal and musical differences."

The upcoming CD is being described by singer Nick Holmes as "definitely the heaviest album we have done in the last ten years."

Imagika Signs With Mausoleum Records

San Francisco speed/thrash metallers Imagika have signed a licensing deal with Mausoleum Records for the worldwide release of their fourth full-length album, "Devils on Both Sides," tentatively due in February 2005.

Work on "Devils on Both Sides" began in early 2003, with producer Neil Kernon (Nevermore, Cannibal Corpse, Deicide) originally slated to handle the whole CD. The addition of new vocalist Norman Skinner meant that the group were forces to re-write the songs and re-cut vocals which were originally done with their previous singer, causing a conflict in Neil's schedule, which resulted in the group bringing in Juan Urteaga (Vile, Skinlab) to finish the CD. "Things worked out great as Juan is pure metal and has a passion for all things heavy!" the band writes. "The new material has some surprises as we were able to bring in some more melodic aspects due to Mr. Skinner's killer vocal range. No worries there’s plenty of metal going on and we’re still laying out the killer riffs!" Final cover artwork for the CD was produced by Imagika drummer Henry Moreno.

Apocalyptica Tap Singers The Rasmus And H.I.M.

Finish cello-rockers APOCALYPTICA have returned to the studio to record the first single of their forthcoming album (due early February 2005). The song, entitled "Bittersweet", is a dark ballad, that features fellow-countrymen Lauri Ylönen from THE RASMUS and Ville Valo from H.I.M. on vocals. The single, written by Apocalyptica, Lauri and Ville together, will be released internationally on 29 November.

Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, and Perttu Kivilaakso will appear alongside Lauri and Ville in the video for "Bittersweet", shot in the bandís hometown Helsinki and directed by renowned finish director Antti Jokinen.

Where in the beginning the classically-trained cellists established themselves with interpretations of Metallica, Slayer, and Sepultura classics, the band have developed their own writing skills for many years and matured while doing so. The new album will - just like its predecessors "Cult" and "Reflections" - again contain originally APOCALYPTICA-penned songs.
