Sound Clip Of Unreleased Black Sabbath Song Online
A 53 second clip of a "lost" BLACK SABBATH song "When I Came Down" is now available for download. You can check it out here.
Here's a description of the track:
"This month’s edition of record collector comes news of a newly discovered Sabbath acetate 45rpm record. On the A side is a track entitled "When I Come Down" and is believed to have been recorded at studio’s in Birmingham between March and October 69. The song is described as short but boasting strong vocals and harmonica playing. It begins with a bluesy, pentatonic riff and although the guitar gets rather lost in the mix, the overall feel approximates to a slower take on Evil Woman, while much of the rhythm is like NIB, set up in half time to the riff. The track was written by locomotive keyboardist Norman Haines, although no keyboards appear on the track. On the B-side is a rough demo of the wizard. Where, when, or if this track will ever show up on any kind of release will remain a mystery until further notice."

Cradle Of Filth Bassist Issues Tour Update
Starting Halloween night in Quebec City, Cradle Of Filth will be hitting the road in support of their latest release, "Nymphetamine." The band will be playing a couple dates in Canada before starting the MTV2 Headbangers Ball Tour on 11/4 in Sayreville, NJ with special guests Arch Enemy, Bleeding Through and Himsa.
CoF most recently finished up a South American tour, and though the band had a great time and hope to return soon, they're more worn for the wear. For those of you who've heard anything to the contrary, do know that the above tour of the US is to happen without a hitch, the band told us so!
Bassist Dave Pybus fills us in:
Our schedule is pretty grueling right now. We have a few injuries at the moment too. Fans in South America will have seen that our guitarist Paul Allender was not present. His stand in for the tour was our studio engineer, Dan Turner. Paul suffered a serious hand injury prior to the tour and we did not want to cancel as we had worked hard planning the trip for months. Paul is now fully recovered in time for this recording session and the U.S. tour which starts on Hallowe'en with Arch Enemy, Bleeding Through and Himsa. I also managed to injure my back during the show in Santiago, Chile but we only had one more gig to play before I could return home and rest. That seems to be recovering day by day.
Kotipelto Checks In From Finland
Home after his first-ever trip to the U.S., special guest appearance at Atlanta’s ProgPower USA V, and performances in South America Timo Kotipelto sends his regards to his fans worldwide:
The gigs in Argentina and Brazil were superb! The response from the fans was so awesome. A lot of people knew my songs and we had lots of fun on stage. The funny thing was that our bass player’s last name Porra (Lauri Porra) is a swear word in Brazil and means something like sperm! :) So the people were shouting his name very loud when I introduced him.
The whole trip to Atlanta ProgPower V and to South-America was such an enjoyable journey for me. I hope to get back to play some shows in the U.S. with my band, and also to headline a tour in South America in the near future. Thanks to all cool people I met over there!
Keyboardist Jens Johansson (Stratovarius, ex-Yngwie Malmsteen) who stepped-in in the eleventh hour to perform with the band, said the following regarding the band’s South American shows:
It was really nice performing with my new friends from the band Kotipelto this past week. The audiences in South America are always a lot of fun so it was my pleasure to help Timo out when his regular keyboard player Janne pooped out due to tour with CoB – ha ha. The last gig in Sao Paulo in front of 7,000 crazy Brazilian fans was a nice finish of the Latin American leg, and as I have never been to Cordoba, Argentina before that was also really interesting. Next this mini-tour takes us of all places to Finland.
Kotipelto, whose newest album "Coldness" was released earlier this year by Century Media Records, will be performing 6 dates in the next two weeks in the artist’s native country Finland. More information on the performances can be found here. In addition, the band will be playing in Helsinki, Finland with Nightwish December 26th at the sold-out post-Christmas show.
Century Media To Release Nightwish DVDs And EPs
On November 30th Century Media will make available for the first time in the U.S. two previously unavailable Nightwish releases the "End Of Innocence" DVD and the "Over The Hills And Far Away" EP. Fans will revel in the detailed film footage and interview history as well as videos, live footage, and photo gallery found on the DVD. The EP’s title track is one of the band’s most coveted singles, and the additional three studio tracks and six live tracks round out this magnificent experience. Additionally, Century Media will be releasing Nightwish's "From Wishes To Eternity" DVD on January 25th, 2005. Content details for all the Nightwish releases can be viewed at the band’s website here, and they will be available from the Century Media website.
Dark Tranquillity Re-sign To Century Media
Melodic death sextet Dark Tranquillity - pioneers of the "Gothenburg sound," and an act hailed by Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles as "the best Swedish band on the planet" - have signed a new worldwide recording contract with Century Media Records, the label that released the band's celebrated albums "Projector," "Haven" and "Damage Done."
"We are exceptionally satisfied to announce that we've chosen to continue our cooperation with Century Media for another three albums," the band said in a written statement. "After lengthy negotiations with several prolific labels, the dotted line was finally signed and we have full confidence that we've made the right choice and that there are some excellent years ahead - both for us and for Century Media."

As a precursor to the band's new album, "Character" (to be released in January), next month will see Dark Tranquillity issue a low-priced, four-song EP titled "Lost To Apathy." The title track serves as "Character"'s first single; the EP will also include the song's music video, directed by Roger Johansson (The Haunted, In Flames).

David Breazeal played previously in CAULDRON, a Tampa, FL area metal band featuring guitarist Kelly McLauchlin as well as frontman Matt Barlow, (who later joined ICED EARTH). He also recorded with Kelly and PESSIMIST for a tribute to POSSESSED in 2001, and later formed his own band, TROKAR.

Testament In Recording Mode
San Francisco Bay Area thrash legends TESTAMENT have issued the following press release via their official web site:
"Eric Peterson [guitar] has been given the green light to drive again by his doctor following his long recovery from a triple-fracture leg surgery. On tour in June, he fell down a flight of stairs resulting in the fracture that put him in the hospital in Vienna for 12 days. He spent the rest of the summer and part of the fall recuperating and in physical therapy.
"Now that he is mobile, he can drive the hour+ to the TESTAMENT recording studio, Driftwood Studios, and get back to working on the recording. He is in the studio two to three days a week with Chuck Billy and Paul Bostaph jamming on the songs as Chuck continues to work up more melody and lyric ideas.
"In preparation for their follow up CD to the #1 Chart topper, 'The Gathering', Eric and Chuck upgraded their hideaway studio to include a state-of-the-art Digi-Design Pro Tools HD hard disk recording system. Chuck is quoted as saying, 'We wanted to [and did] get all the bells and whistles plug-ins and hardware necessary to deliver a killer album.' No doubt it will be deafening — as usual.
"Currently, longtime friend and acclaimed recording engineer and ProTools pro Vinnie Wojno is helping TESTAMENT test-drive their newly installed system. Last week they added a newly constructed raised platform for the drum kit to better anchor a biting edge on the drum tones. Wojno set up the drum mic-ing for Lombardo on 'The Gathering' and likes the new upgraded set up.
"Recording legend has it that in order to get drum ideas out of Eric Peterson's head and onto the tracks, Dave Lombardo had to duct tape his sticks into his hands for one of the more blistering outings on 'The Gathering'. Paul Bostaph, a metal drum legend in his own right, endorsed by Tama, steps 'into the pit' for this new record and brings his own formidable double-kick talents to the mix."
