Actually, I don't give a sh** to be where your band are. I have fairly recently formed a band and we have no desire to be involved in the exploitation that comes with the MTV/Ozzfest/Major label territory. Haven't you read the countless stories of bands being financial ruined because they signed to a major and weren't a major success? There are countless other reasons to not be involved in that part of the industry which I don't have time for, but I strongly urge you to read more about it if you care about you and your band's future in the industry. Two good places I found to start are -

www.indiecentre.com

They both have some very interesting articles on the side of the business that most musos don't know about, or don't find out about until it's too late and you're screwed. Be sure to check out Steve Albini's article on indiecentre called 'Some Of Your Friends Are Already This f***ed'. Even if you still don't agree with me, this is still information that can only help you.

Keep in mind, and no offense to the bands selected, but these bands were selected based on having a currently popular and imminently forgettable metal sound. Six of the eight bands sound like bites off of Hatebreed and Pantera, all with mosh riffs that have been done before and most with the growling but exciteable hardcore vocals...Phil Anselmo lawsuits on their way? Again, I'm not trying to knock the selected bands, congratulations on your accomplishments but if Ozzy still had a brain left in that hollowed out head there would have been a more diverse mix of talented bands, rather than a lineup I could find at any dumpy rock club here any night of the week. And I've heard all the bands before, through websites and .mp3 and not only on the pilot episode. I'm saying here that Manntis is the best of the lot, they have a style at least that pays more tribute to classic thrash metal and have some of the melodic elements of European metal. But still not very unique. I'm willing to bet whatever band lands the gig will have the same fate as Da Band on that other MTV band-breaking TV show. Remember them? Right...exactly.

I've seen CYNDER live and done shows with them. I first heard them on Garageband.com and the yhave an incredible song called "Corruptor". Heavier than what they played on the audition. But you know as well as I than almost any band would jump at the chance for national exposure. But I do agree that most of the bands suck. I'm friends with Trauma Concept, Jesse is my best friend.
