Nordic Union Reveals New Album Details
Nordic Union, the ongoing musical collaboration between legendary Danish rock singer Ronnie Atkins (Pretty Maids) and prolific Swedish songwriter and producer Erik Martensson (Eclipse, W.E.T.), have announced their third album, "Animalistic," will be released on August 5th.
Today, the band has released the first single and video from the album, "In Every Waking Hour." Watch the video below, and pre-order/save Animalistic on CD, Limited Edition Green LP, & Digital,
As has been well documented at this point, Atkins was recently given a stage four cancer diagnosis, but rather than sit at home and sulk, the legendary frontman has thrown himself into creating more music. March 2021 saw the release of his solo album, "One Shot," which was followed almost one year to the day later in March 2022 by another solo album, "Make It Count." Not satisfied with resting on his laurels, Atkins partnered up with Martensson in late 2021 and early 2022 to work on Nordic Union's third album, "Animalistic."
Martensson is coming off the heels of two successful 2021 releases, the fourth album, "Retransmission" from W.E.T. and his main band Eclipse's most successful album to date, "Wired," which charted in various countries around the world. More...
Crematory Debuts "Trümmerwelten" Video
Shortly after dropping their new album, "Inglorious Darkness," at the end of May and entering the German charts at #17, the Gothic Metal veterans are releasing another single from their successful album. Standout track "Trümmerwelten" lyrically illustrates a dystopian scene, while opulent keyboards build epic melodies to create orchestral, symphonic soundscapes underlined by heavy drumming. The song comes with a dark music video visualizing the song’s atmosphere. "Trümmerwelten" is the fourth video for the current chart album "Inglorious Darkness." The band decided to post this video additionally after the release date, because the subject of the lyrics unfortunately fit much too well to the current situation with the Russian war. It’s their way to say "Fuck War - make music!"
Crematory on the chart entry:
"We are overjoyed and especially very grateful to our fans that even after more than 30 years of band history our fans are still so loyal and support us again and diligently bought records bought records, CD's and boxes. Fans are the most important thing a band needs and we have and we will never forget that, because you make our dream come true again and again. Many, many, many thanks!" More...
Our Dying World Shares New Lyric Video
?Our Dying World’s drummer Tom Tierney attended a small boarding school in New York state, which has gained notoriety after a disproportionate number of former students choose to end their lives, and the atrocities, torment, and abuse that took place at the school have come to light. These horrors have been channeled into the single "Survivor," which is haunting and diverse.
The song starts with clips of a joyful choral arrangement of Tierney’s high school choir before now-deceased student Jon Martin Crawford echoes his testimony in the Supreme Court. This is followed by heavy and slow riffs, acoustic and clean vocal breaks, anguished howls, and desperate pleas of a boy who was once left in the woods at a school filled with cultists and now shoulders the pain of feeling like there’s something wrong that no one will ever understand. The band comments:
"'Survivor' was one of those songs that we threw into the single list to really bring diversity to the two standalones before we released the record. We want to give the listener both sides of the spectrum and then let your imagination take you to what you think you’ll hear next. Aside from it being a very deep and personal song, Tom thought it might be best that the song gets its own time to stand alone so that the alumni would get to see it more for how it was written as a personal feeling and effort to work through some major issues, and not just as another song on an album that’s lumped in with some metal songs. Tom put a lot of work into this and wanted certain people to know that it was not just another topic that went into a record; there are certain people we hope it brings some closure too about events that aren’t widely discussed."
Throughout the song, the listener can hear the agony that Tierney conveys hearing that his fellow alumni are slowly dying off, and with everything he has in him he dedicates this song to them. Through the solos, the listener can almost feel the weeps and cries in his notes and bends.
The album "Hymns Of Blinding Darkness" is being released on June 24, 2022. More...
Sigh To Release New Album "Shiki" In August
Cult Japanese black metal legends Sigh have announced details of their new album "Shiki" to be released on August 26th on Peaceville. You can pre-order it at this location.
"Shiki," an opus of dark & eclectic blackened heavy metal, shrouded in traditional eastern influences, marks the latest chapter in the Sigh legacy and includes some of the band’s heaviest and darkest material for some years; a fine hybrid of at times primitive black metal akin to early influences such as Celtic Frost amid more epic melodic heavy metal riffing and solos. It will take you on a journey through the strange and the psychedelic, incorporating a whole eclectic mix of genre styles & experimentation throughout their career. Highlighting that Sigh has remained a vital creative force in the avantgarde field whilst maintaining their old school roots.
Immerse yourself in Sigh’s new world through the first single "Mayonaka No Kaii" and the accompanying illustrated video from animator extraordinaire Costin Chioreanu.
"The song is kind of a culmination of what Sigh has been up to. Whistle scream, throat singing, Uriah Heep like vocal harmonies, vocoder, flute solo, shakuhachi solo, Hammond solo and the great guitar solo by Fred - it's got everything! Although it's only 5-minute long, it's a very dramatic song with many aspects. The title stands for ‘a strange incident at midnight’, and it's based on actual weird experience I had .. Long story short, I experienced midnight twice in one night! You can read the details at the end of the video. We have been working with Costin for a long time, so we were 100% sure that he'd be the best guy to visualize my eerie experience, and how did it turn out? You all see for yourselves!" - Mirai Kawashima. More...
Civil War Uploads "Oblivion" Lyric Video
Before dropping their fourth album, Swedish power metal outfit Civil War – featuring former members of Sabaton – invite listeners to join them on the battlefield with "Oblivion." The track features far Eastern sounds of another world, combined with strong vocals and guitar riffs. Packed with powerful, engaging guitars and drums, it will have the listener impatiently waiting for the release of the band’s new album, "Invaders," out June 17, 2022 via Napalm Records.
Detailing harrowing stories of sorrow and tales of turbulent triumph from around the globe, as well as human nature itself, the album marks the band’s first with masterful frontman Kelly Sundown Carpenter and formidable shredder Thobbe Englund (ex-Sabaton).
Kelly Sundown Carpenter (vocals) on "Oblivion":
"'Oblivion' is about the Gaia-like force of nature waking from its long sleep. As it looks out upon the world, it sees what man has done to the Earth and it decides to eradicate mankind by unleashing cataclysmic events." More...
Behemoth Unveils "Off To War!" Video
Behemoth, Poland's overlords of extreme metal, have revealed another track from their forthcoming twelfth studio album, "Opvs Contra Natvram," out via Nuclear Blast on September 16. The latest single,"Off To War!," is a mission statement, accompanied by yet another evocative official video, the type that Behemoth excel at, directed by Påhl Sundström and Erik Sundström. Watch below.
Behemoth are non-conformists through and through, swimming against the tide. The new collection reflects this attitude: "Opvs Contra Natvram" is the sheer embodiment of rebellion, individuality, and unflinching self-expression, shaped by a literary worldview. It also reflects a musical evolution; there's little doubt that "Opvs Contra Natvram" is Behemoth's strongest and most sophisticated project to date.
Frontman and Behemoth visionary Adam "Nergal" Darski comments, "Militant times bring militant music… we're increasing the tempo with our new single, 'Off To War!' - one of my personal favorites from the new record. This song has a killer punk section, one of the greatest Behemoth leads of all time, and a nice extreme metal twist at the end. A true sonic tornado in times of confrontation - enjoy it, legions!!" Vomit Forth Posts New Music Video Online
Connecticut-based Northeast death metal powerhouse Vomit Forth have just released their new song and music video for “Predatory Saviour” today via Century Media Records.
"This was the first song we wrote for ’Seething Malevolence‘. It actually used to be the title track, but it just didn't feel right. It set the tone for the record," states Vomit Forth about "Predatory Saviour." "The purpose of the song is to convey to people that the world we live in is not safe. The people we think are here to keep us safe are just as flawed and corrupted as anyone else. People in religion, politics, or in any place of power really are there because there's blood on their hands either literally or metaphorically. The very people we trust to keep us safe are the same ones ready to eat our corpses when they're done with them."
"Predatory Saviour" is off Vomit Forth‘s forthcoming full-length album, "Seething Malevolence," which is set for release on July 8th. While the band is known for a sound that borrows from the underappreciated East Coast death metal blueprint belched up from bands like Internal Bleeding and Scattered Remnants, Seething Malevolence expands to more experimental and unexpected sounds, refracting the band‘s love for the likes of Napalm Death or Full of Hell. "Seething Malevolence" delivers on the promise of everything Vomit Forth has hinted at so far Northeast death metal. More...
