Exmortem Preparing Several Releases
Danish death metallers Exmortem have several releases planned for the coming months. Among the items scheduled for release through Osmose Productions is the "Pest Campaign 2003" CD/EP featuring three profesionally recorded live tracks (recorded in Valencia, Spain during the European tour in April 2003), plus a re-recorded version of "Intoxicated By Death" from the "Labyrinths Of Horror" album (1995). Also planned for release is the "Killstorms" 7" single (Ancient Darkness Productions).
Skyclad's 12 Studio Offering is In the Works
The twelfth studio album of Skyclad is in the works. The album is titled Assemblance Of Normality and it will feature some songs recorded with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Robert Trory. According to Kevin Ridley: "The quality of this album has improved in that it is heavier but still very folky and we have managed to stick to the traditions of Skyclad. We have not been afraid to try new ideas like the introduction of the orchestra on a couple of tracks."
Mayhem Prepare to Take Back Their Throne
Mayhem decided to release their upcoming album “Chimera” through Season of Mist ! The band will record this release during November and December this year, and “Chimera” is scheduled for release during March 2004. Do not expect a release as daring as “Grand Declaration of War”, but an album going back to the band’s darker times. Having glanced at the future with “Grand Declaration of War”, Mayhem decide to look at the past as they state “Chimera will be a résumé of all our previous albums. But one thing is sure : it’s going to be Black Metal. No more fooling around. We proved ourselves creative and ahead of the rest with “Grand Declaration of War”. With “Chimera, we are taking back the throne that is ours.”
Vomitory Look for New Vocalist, Prepare to Record
Vomitory is due to record their fifth full-length album in December. The recording will take place at Studio Kuling in Örebro, Sweden with producer Henrik Larsson. The yet untitled album will be released through Metal Blade Records in March, 2004. More info on this soon.
In other Vomitory news, bassist/growler Erik Rundqvist has announced his departure from the vocal duties in the band, continuing to play bass only. So therefore, Vomitory is now looking for a new growler. Erik will still do the vocals on the new Vomitory album and he will continue in the band as the stable bassplayer he is!
So if you feel you are the one for the job, please get in touch with the band (band@vomitory.net), but if you’re not 100 % serious, don’t waste their time!
MDB Issue Statement on Album Delay
My Dying Bride’s new album has been delayed until late 2003/early 2004 due to problems with the artwork deadlines.
“The gigs will not be delayed or tampered with at all. There are no problems with the artwork, only delays coming from deadlines not met due to not feeling 100% about the way the art should look. So rather than rush we waited...
Yes, disappointing for all of us, but we felt it the correct thing to do. The artwork is close now but the delay means February next year, doom is slow, we all know this.
The album is finished musically, we were at Abbey Road in London on September 6th and 7th mastering it. We have a title and all lyrics and song titles, but they will be released in good time."
My Dying Bride’s forthcoming album previously had the working title The Thirteenth Chapter.
Grimfist Drummer Denies Blackest of the Black Show
While speaking with BW&BK over the last couple of days, Grimfist drummer Horgh (ex-Immortal) was surprised to hear that it was announced that the band would be playing the London date of the upcoming Blackest Of The Black tour.
Horgh’s initial reaction was, “The only thing I've heard is that Zyklon are playing on the London show of the Blackest Of The Black tour! Grimfist haven't been asked, but it would have been cool to play that show.”
Shortly after discovering that the announcement was indeed circulating in the metal scene, Horgh told BW&BK, “None of the members in Grimfist have been asked if we are interested or told anything about the conditions for playing that show. We simply don't know anything about it. The music business is just great... hahaha.”
As previously reported, the Blackest Of The Black tour features headliners Danzig, along with Marduk, Zyklon, Orange Goblin and Meldrum.
Blackest Of The Black European dates include:
November
22 - The Forum - London, UK
24 - Arenan - Stockholm, Sweden
25 - Venue TBA - Gothenberg, Sweden
26 - Venue TBA - Malmo, Sweden
28 - Venue TBA - Milan, Italy
Cattle Decapitation Finish Filming Video
Cattle Decapitation have issued the following update on their forthcoming video for the track ‘To Serve Man’: “The video is finished filming! We finished on Saturday and we promise you that it will be completely sick! It will include some live footage from our Seattle show with Gwar as well as all sorts of disturbing tidbits of carnage and horror one should expect from us.
It should be MTV and Uranium ready HOPEFULLY halfway through the tour, we'll see about that. But it IS coming soon! We're very excited as this thing looks seriously amazing so far and we're very humbled by it.
We thank our friend Russ Herpich from Watch Me Burn for making it finally happen! Now, we're off to tour, so we'll see you at the shows."

Devildriver, the new band fronted by former Coat Chamber singer Dez Fafara, are expected to fill the opening slot on the entire trek, which is slated to kick off on October 16 in Columbus, Ohio. There is no word yet on who will occupy the middle slot on the tour prior to November 3.
