Nile Speaks out Against Hex Custom Guitars

The following was a posting on Nile's official website:

"Public Notice Warning Concerning Tommie Hex aka Thomas Bradley of Hex Custom Guitars

The following is the tragic story of Tommie Hex, his guitar company, and the shameless ripoff of scores of Metal guitarists . For those who do not know , Tommie Hex ( aka Thomas Bradley) runs a 'company' called Hex Custom Guitars.

There are , at this moment , a large number of Tommies customers who paid upfront to have custom guitars built, have never received them , any refund, or even any real news about Tommies actual and truthful whereabouts. ( vague emails claiming " The guitars are built , I am shipping them tommorrow" DO NOT COUNT) People with first hand knoledge of Tommies exploits in Austin Texas have come forward IN LARGE numbers , with reports of Tommies drug abuse, the fraudulent business practices he used to rip off clients , and the pawning of many of their guitars which had been used for trade-ins. Apparantly, Tommie purposefully targeted younger Metal guitarists , who were seeking to have custom guitars built - his basic M.O. was to quote them an attractively low price , ( usually in
the $850 to $2000 range ) with the stipulation that 50 % of the quoted price would be required to begin an order on a Custom Hex Guitar. More...

Sevendust Enter Billboard At #14

This week SEVENDUST will enter the Billboard Top 200 at #14 on sales of 67,049 units of their fourth album Seasons. This marks the band¹s biggest debut week in units scanned as well as chart position. Seasons will also enter the Hard Music Albums chart at #1 and the Independent Albums chart at #1. Sevendust¹s last disc Animosity, released on November 11, 2001 debuted at #28 with 61,394 units. All of the band¹s previous three albums have been certified Gold by the R.I.A.A.

"This is a great artist development story," said Paul Burgess, Senior Vice President of Marketing at TVT Records. "Even with major trend shifts in rock music over the past two years, Sevendust returns bigger than ever."

Seasons is being fueled by the hit rock single "Enemy" which the band will perform on NBC¹s Last Call with Carson Daly on November 7. Hard rock bible Metal Edge Magazine in early praise of the album said: "Seasons is a mandatory record of 2003. The perfect junction of mosh pit madness and radio friendly opuses." Sevendust will be featured on the cover of the next issue of the Metal Edge, hitting newsstands in early November.

Sevendust is currently on a national tour with Staind that will run though November and will begin headlining in December and all through 2004.

Bruce Kulick Recuperating From Random Shooting

BRUCE KULICK (Kiss, Grand Funk Railroad) is at home and recovering from two gunshots after a show at the Rainbow in Hollywood Wednesday night.

He had been to a Vince Neil event at the Rainbow, and left with a friend at 1:30 a.m. As he walked down the strip, he heard gunshots. He looked down to see a hole through his leather pants, right above the knee. Next thing he noticed blood was coming down his leg. He heard a second bullet whiz past his ear and realized he’d been grazed in his head by it. Immediately the EMS crews arrived, took him to the hospital.

This was a random shooting, and the assailant was wrestled to the ground by the crowd.

“I’m very grateful for the immediate response of both the crowd and the doctors, and --obviously-- the EMS crews,” says Bruce Kulick. “I’m fine and very thankful to be alive, and I’m back on the road with Grand Funk.”

This past weekend Bruce and his band Grand Funk played two shows in California. On November 8th they’ll be performing at a benefit for Safe Harbor Animal Rescue and Hospital-- a no kill facility in Grand Funk drummer Don Brewer’s hometown of Jupiter.

Bruce has plenty of time to recuperate, as the band is taking time off for the holidays. And they’ll be back on the road to do 40 or 50 shows in the new year.

Much more than just a conventional remix project, modern day musical iconoclasts from every genre have assembled to lay down their highly original interpretations of Parker’s classic Savoy repertoire--circa 1944-1948.

Serj reworks Parkers classic Bird of Paradise and "molds it into something both hauntingly dark and beautiful." Serj recorded the track in his own Serjical Strike Studios in Calabasas, CA. System of a Down is currently in the studio recording the follow-up to themulti-platinum Toxicity.

Documentary On Creation of Metallica's St. Anger

MTV News caught up with 'Some Kind of Monster' director Joe Berlinger to talk about the movie profiling the hardships, struggles and frustrations Metallica experienced while creating 'St. Anger'. "Our mantra in the editing room was, 'Our film ends where most concert films begin," Berlinger said. "The last scene of the movie is Metallica taking the stage in Europe for the first time in three years. Before that, you see all the stuff that happened after the band started to work on 'St. Anger', and a lot of it is heavy stuff that would have sunk many other bands."
