Bonnaroo Spokesman Denies Led Zeppelin Rumour
According to The Daily News Journal, the president of Big Hassle, a publicity firm for the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, says that reports of LED ZEPPELIN appearing at the festival in Manchester this summer are inaccurate.

“It’s still a rumor and the information in the Mirror is inaccurate,” said Ken Weinstein, president of Big Hassle. “I speak on behalf of (promotor) Superfly and AC Entertainment.”
An early December internet report of Led Zeppelin’s pending appearance at Bonnaroo in June was denied by Superfly and AC Entertainment.

Arch Enemy Singer Answers Fans Questions
The webmaster for ARCH ENEMY singer Angela Gossow's website reports:
"I finally put up all answers to the questions of our "Ask Angela" special. Make sure to check them out as soon as possible!"
The following is a sample...
Q: Would you like to be mom?
A: "I am not sure. I have the utmost respect for parents. It is real tough to raise kids in our society. You can protect them only for a very short period of time. As soon as they get into kindergarten or school they are under the influence of others...
And the media isn’t helping it either. There are many bad role models for kids out there today and only few good ones. A lot of parents start losing their kids sooner than later to the wrong role models, drugs disorders.
To see your beautiful child turn into a troubled, unhappy, mobbed teenager isn’t easy. I am not sure if I am up for that challenge.
I meet teenage kids every day at our shows. A lot of parents fail miserably in protecting their kids and being there for them when they need to be. I try to be a little there for them, but most kids simply need stability in their lives. And where I am at right now, there is no stability. And for this world – I don’t see much hope. I do fight to make a difference, but a lot of people don’t. Too many simply don’t care. Environmental destruction, war mongers, nuclear weapons – not the paradise I would like to see my kids live in.."

The Scourger Issue Lineup Change Update
THE SCOURGER has issued the following update on their official website:
"The band has parted ways with guitarist Timo Nyberg. There are absolutely no musical differences or hard feelings between the band and Timo. The reason for the split is simply that Timo has many other commitments that he needs to take care of and hence can't give the band the input it would need. Timo is replaced with Antti Wirman known from the bands Warmen and Craydawn. The band welcomes Antti onboard and wishes all the best for Timo in the future, wherever he may roam.."
Deep Purple Drummer Unable To Appear At Drumwright
Deep-Purple.net has issued the following report, courtesy of The Purple Project:
"Ian Paice was hoping to do another slot for Drumwright (the first was reviewed in DTB 58). The evening is titled Rock Of Ages, and takes place on February 28th at the Rivermead Leisure Centre, Reading (UK).
Tickets are £15 or £10 for students in full-time education (does any student do full-time education?!). The Purple Project have just told us that Paice will not be able to make the charity concert as DP are now touring at the time.
Otherwise, confirmed for the event are a slew of sixties stars including Clem Cattini, Bob Henrit and Bobby Orr.
You can call the organisers on 0118 944 1418.
There's also an autographed Ian Pace drum kit up for grabs on the night."
Onslaught Talk About Cancelled Shows
MetalHead.ro has issued a new interview with UK thrashers ONSLAUGHT. The following is an excerpt:
Q: So what's new in the Onslaught camp? I've heard that you've canceled the European X-Mass Festival Tour..
A: "Lots going on right now, it's been total chaos over the past few months. Yeah the X-mass festival tour got cancelled, but we've never really been given a reason why, it would have been an awesome tour if it would have went ahead."
Q: Speaking of recent events, what happened with your show at Hellflame - South Side Of Hell? I know that there's been some problems for you and BENEDICTION.
A: "Again another show cancelled. I think four bands got pulled from the bill in total. I believe it was due to finance problems, because all the bands who were cancelled had to fly in. We were told it was to do with objections from local government."

As We Fight Announce New Singer
Danish metalcore act AS WE FIGHT has issued the following update:
"We have a new singer!!! His name is Jesper Gün, and he has been with us for about 5-6 months, so some of you have already seen him at the shows with ALL THAT REMAINS, Ieperfest and the MTV Headbanger's Ball Tour. We are very happy to have him in the band as he is a great friend and a fantastic singer! We look forward to hit the road with him in 2008 in company with the upcoming album!!!
"We haven't made many updates since the MTV Headbanger's Ball Tour in September, but we've actually been busy as hell in the rehearsal room, where we have spent most of our time with the songwriting for the new album! So far we have nine new songs ready, where we have toned the rock 'n' roll influence down in favour of a more metal-oriented approach. We have a very good feeling about the new material, and can't wait to recording session in January and February at the Smart'N'Hard Studio with Jacob Bredahl!"
AS WE FIGHT last year released the video for its song "Annihilation". Watch the clip below. The track comes off the Danish metalcore act's sophomore full-length album, "Midnight Tornado", which was released in October 2006 via Dockyard 1 Records.
"Midnight Tornado" was recorded by Jacob Bredahl of HATESPHERE and was mixed and mastered by Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, HIMSA, SICK OF IT ALL).
AS WE FIGHT's full-length debut, "Black Nails and Bloody Wrists", was issued in April 2004 via Goodlife Recordings.
My Ruin Part With Drummer, Announce Replacement
MY RUIN frontwoman Tarrie B has issued the following update:
"Matt [LeChevalier, drums] is no longer in MY RUIN. Before you think what we KNOW you must be thinking, let me explain....because there are no hard feelings.
"Matt joined MY RUIN in 2005 right after we released our last album, 'The Brutal Language'. We were coming off a very long tour in the States with someone in our band who we needed to replace immediately. Matt spent two years with us touring, recording the new album and making our new video for 'Ready For Blood'. We always knew that his time with our band was limited because he is a French citizen and there were both visa and personal issues he had to deal with which had nothing to do with our band.
"Matt is an amazing drummer. He helped us to create the most personal and powerful album we have ever made. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors and will always have a special place for him in our hearts and remember his time with MY RUIN fondly.
"Now it's time for our NEXT announcement.....
"For the past two months we have been in the studio rehearsing for our UK tour with someone very special to us (especially to ME!). Some of you may remember him and many of you are about to meet for the first time in January. His name is Marcelo Palomino. You might remember Celo as my former drummer in both MANHOLE and TURA SATANA. We have been friends for many years and over those years, he has become like a brother to me and is family to the band.
"When I started MY RUIN in 1999 I actually asked Celo to be my drummer as I toured the 'Speak & Destroy' album in the UK.
"It's funny how things have come around full circle.
"Celo is a killer drummer, always has been, and there is a connection than runs deeply between us musically. We grew up on the road touring together for many years all over the world. We had no idea what it would be like after so long apart but it feels natural with him playing in the band. Just cool and really fun for all of us. The band sounds tight and we're counting down the days.
"We hope this was a great surprise for everyone and you are all just as excited to see Marcelo on stage with us as we are having him. It's been great so far and our setlist is pretty intense. So get ready!!!"
Check out a photo of the new MY RUIN lineup at this location.
MY RUIN's new album, "Throat Full of Heart", is due this month via the band's own imprint label Rovena Recordings in association with Cargo Records UK. The CD was co-produced by MY RUIN guitarist Mick Murphy and Duane Burda. The disc also includes the music video for the song "Ready for Blood", directed by Ben Le Vine, with a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the video along with a mini-movie of MY RUIN with never-before-seen footage of the band in the studio during the recording sessions for the new album as well as a personal photo/video film created by Miss B, titled "Through The Wound", which documents her accident from the injury to her recovery this past year.
"Throat Full of Heart" track listing:
01. Ready For Blood
02. Memento Mori
03. Skeleton Key
04. Me Without You
05. Religiosity
06. Slide You The Horn
07. Not This Time
08. Dragon Steel
09. Nothing Is Sacred
10. Through The Wound
MY RUIN will hit the UK again in January 2008 for its "Tell Your God Tour" with special guests DIE SO FLUID and PLASTIC TOYS. Kicking off the trek will be a visual/listening record release party in honor of Tairrie B's birthday at The Fly Bar in London on January 18.
Saturnus Rejoined By Former Bassist
Denmark's SATURNUS check in with the following band lineup news:
"Hey everybody, news flash from the Danish doomsters...
After releasing Veronika Decides To Die in 2006 and touring The States, Russia and parts of Europe, Saturnus and bass player Lennart Jacobsen has decided to go our separate ways. No hard feelings involved and we wish him the best of luck with his music in the future.
Luckily for us, our old bass player Brian Pomy Hansen (Brian recorded 'Paradise
Belongs To You', 'For The Loveless Lonely Nights' and 'Martyre') was playing in the band WIZARDS OF DOOM with Thomas (vocals). We tried giving him a call and he was up for the task. So, we are back in business (never went off!).
We have started writing material for the next album and have some massive European tour dates lined up for the spring of 2008.
We'll keep you posted on that!"
Suicide Silence To Support Behemoth On Tour
Century Media Records Germany reports:
SUICIDE SILENCE has just secured the direct support slot on the upcoming BEHEMOTH tour in February before they will come back with PARKWAY DRIVE and BURY YOUR DEAD in April/May.
Those diverse packages already show that Suicide Silence adheres to no preconceived notions and refuses to be pigeonholed into any specific genre. Their music clearly represents their many influences, incorporating a savage mix of death metal, grindcore, black metal, hardcore and doom elements into each track. The songs are dynamic and crushing, shifting effortlessly from insane grind chaos into surgically precise, disorienting time signatures topped off with snail-paced grooves and destructive breakdowns. Check out songs from The Cleansing at: http://www.myspace.com/suicidesilence
Suicide Silence’s album The Cleansing will finally hit Europe on February 18th and the UK on March 31st. It will come with the exclusive European bonus track 'A Dead Current' as well as a CD enhancement offering 6 live clips from US and UK.
Upon the US release of the album Suicide Silence made a huge statement to the metal world by entering the US Billboard Top 200 chart at #94, which marks the highest debut ever for a new Century Media artist.

Helloween Issue Road Report
HELLOWEEN's website has been updated with the following message:
"After successful appearances in Sweden and Finland, 3,500 fans have welcomed Helloween and GAMMA RAY at the first concert on the Czech part of the Hellish Rock tour in the Lokomotiva Sports Hall in Plzen.
Together with the Swedish opening act SABATON both of the bands delivered the goods in a big way.
The new Helloween single 'As Long As I Fall', the medley containing famous parts of such big Helloween hits like 'Perfect Gentleman', 'Where The Rain Grows', 'I Can' or 'Power' and the classic 'March Of Time' were among the highlights of the night while the Helloween/Gamma Ray-jam session at the end of the night almost caused a riot.
During 'Future World' and 'I Want Out' the walls of the venue were shaking. The already sold-out concert in Zlín and a very successful performance in Pardubice followed. The tour continued with two concerts in the Slovakian Republic where the bands were playing in front of almost 5,000 crazy Slovakian fans.
Back in Germany, two days before Christmas, Helloween and Gamma Ray - together with AXXIS - sold out the All Karthalle in Kaufbeuren.
The tour will continue into 2008 this Saturday with the first of two concerts in Paris.
Meanwhile the concert in Osaka of the Japanese portion of the Hellish Rock Tour is already sold out."

Dawn Of Azazel Frontman Speaks On Disgorge Bassist
Frontman Rigel Walshe of the New Zealand-based death/grind outfit DAWN OF AZAZEL has released the following statement on the passing of DISGORGE bassist Ben Marlin:
"I was truly saddened to hear the news of Ben Marlin's passing earlier today. We had the pleasure of touring through New Zealand, Australia, Thailand and Indonesia together with DISGORGE for three weeks back in March 06.
"From the moment I hopped in the van with Ben at Auckland Airport for the first show of our tour together, I was struck by his laid back, easy-going nature, humility and sly sense of humor, no matter what dramas would cross his path. The admiration stuck with me throughout the tour and beyond. I was even more impressed by the guy when I heard that all this was in spite of having endured some major personal dramas just before heading out on tour.
"I spoke with Ed from DISGORGE earlier today and he relayed to me that Ben passed away in peace and amongst friends and family. He introduced them to the DISGORGE Myspace page, and at the moment while they come to terms with his passing, they are finding some consolation in how respected and loved he and his music was, from the kind words and condolences of friends and fans.
"If you've ever been graced with Ben's company or enjoyed the music he made I encourage you to take a few moments to do the same.
"From all in DAWN OF AZAZEL, R.I.P., brother, you will be missed!"
Ben Marlin passed away on January 2, 2008 after nearly a year and a half of battling cancer.
DISGORGE released its fourth album, "Paralells of Infinite Torture", in May 2005 via Crash Music Inc. The band had previously released two albums through the Unique Leader label (1999's "She Lay Gutted" and 2001's "Consume the Forsaken") and a collection of demos through Extremities Productions (1999's "Cranial Impalement").
Arson Anthem Reveal Debut EP Details
ARSON ANTHEM — the new project featuring Philip Anselmo (DOWN, ex-PANTERA) on guitar, Mike Williams (EYEHATEGOD) on vocals, Hank Williams III (SUPERJOINT RITUAL, ASSJACK) on drums and Collin Yeo on bass — will release its self-titled debut EP on February 19 via Housecore Records; a label created by Anselmo focusing on Phil's side projects and other artists he believes in. The track listing for the effort is as follows:
01. Year Of The Fork
02. Doomed Morale
03. Bunker Life
04. Hammer Them Out
05. Wrecked Like Clockwork
06. Cops Shoot Coke
07. The Avoider
08. Sri Lankan Medication
After losing everything in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Mike Williams moved into Philip's spare apartment. The two spent countless hours listening to Philip's collection of early hardcore bands; the timing was perfect to remedy this cabin fever. They began jamming with III and Collin Yeo, and this proved to be the crowning accession to complete this exploit.
ARSON ANTHEM's mission is to re-introduce the roots of painful amplification, raw production, and a TRUE "fuck-all" attitude to a movement within a new generation that's lost the meaning of less complicated ventures. The byway is to be similar to the original brutality of bands like NEGATIVE APPROACH, POISON IDEA, HELLHAMMER, DISCHARGE and VOID, amongst others. ARSON ANTHEM will never give way to what the societal masses want them to conform to, as by example their previous musical incarnations.

Commented INCANTATION mainman John McEntee: “We have been getting a great response from all our loyal die hard supporters. Many people have been requesting songs to play at these shows. I just want to let everyone know that we will be mixing up the set pretty much every night to some extent. We want to make every show a great event and throughout the tour we will be playing almost every song from that era, but obviously not every song in one night.”

Exodus Prepare For North American Tour
Starting 2008 off on the right foot by launching their first North American tour in support of their latest Billboard-charting album, The Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit A, EXODUS will soon be bringing their trademarked brand of fist-in-the-face music to a back alley near you. In tow will be GOATWHORE from New Orleans, Virginian labelmates ARSIS, and L.A.’s WARBRINGER.
“We tour more and longer and with fewer days off now than we ever did in our 20s,” states guitarist Gary Holt in a recent interview with KNAC.com. “I think it has to do more with not lagging and keeping things moving forward. When we were younger, we had the luxury of days off, but days off were expensive. The more shows you do, the less money you burn on the bus being parked outside a Wal-Mart and having the crew do nothing – except maybe drinking a lot. Now when we’re on the road, we just do our thing and when it’s done, we may do a couple of shots, watch a movie, and play Uno for money. It’s the most fun when someone’s drawing cards trying to find their color and having shit for luck. Then we start talking shit, like ‘Taste the rainbow, motherfucker…’ [laughter]”
When asked by Synthesis.net about The Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit A’s anti-Middle East stance, Holt replied: “I never set out to make a political album. On ‘As It Was, As It Soon Shall Be,’ one thing led to another and it ended up as me taking another potshot at the Bush Administration. It was written from my point of view. This whole mess in Iraq… we went there for the wrong reasons. It wasn’t my battle, it wasn’t my idea to play ‘world police,’ and now we’re never going to get out of there. At the same time, I’m not a bleeding heart liberal.”
The band’s video for 'Riot Act' (which includes an Evil Overlord and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Recommended Daily Allowance of pentagrams) – shot by director Jon Schnepp of Metalocalypse fame - can be viewed on the MTV's Headbangers Blog site.
