Mindless Self Indulgence Sign To The End Records
The End Records has signed an exclusive licensing deal with New York's electro-metal band MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE (MSI) for North America. The group's new album, titled "If", will be released on April 29, 2008.
MSI, one of the most unique and hard-working acts in the scene today, continues to storm the music scene with its infectious and feisty electronic, metal and punk rock sound, winning over music fans with their incendiary live shows, catchy fun-filled hooks and creative music videos.
Singer Jimmy Urine stated about the direction of the group's new material, "The fact is that we get bored easily and we like to hear many different kinds of music...often at the same time. This record reflects that, and in doing so, this will be our most diverse album to date as well as one of our longest."
In other MSI news, after an astonishing 95 weeks on Billboard's Hot Dance Singles Sales chart, the MSI single, "Straight to Video", has reached its highest position to date, Number One. Coincidentally, MSI's single for "Shut Me Up" is currently perched at Number Four on the same chart wherein it has resided for 66 weeks (of which it has been in the Number One spot seven separate times). Both singles are culled from 2005's UCR/Metropolis Records album "You'll Rebel to Anything" which is set for an expanded and remastered re-release Stateside on January 22. Most recently, MSI's first ever DVD, "Our Pain, Your Gain" debuted at #5 on Billboard's "Top Music Video" chart, selling 3,500 copies in its first week this past September.
The band plans to tour extensively next year in support of the new album and has already been confirmed as co-headliner of the massive rock n' roll extravaganza Bamboozle being held on May 3 and May 4, 2008 in New Jersey.
"Ripper" Owens Speaks On New Beyond Fear Songs
Vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens (BEYOND FEAR, ex-ICED EARTH, JUDAS PRIEST) has issued the following update:
"Things are good on this end. The new BEYOND FEAR songs are really sounding great. I really can't wait to get in the studio! Also, I have a really cool project that I will be working on real soon, the news will be released in due time, it should be a lot of fun. But this will not change the timing of BEYOND FEAR.
"A big thanks to the thousands of emails that have come in with nothing but support and kind words! I thank you all for that."
Owens was dismissed from ICED EARTH in December — three months after the release of the group's latest album, "Framing Armageddon - Something Wicked Part I".
ICED EARTH mainman/guitarist Jon Schaffer issued a press release last month announcing that the band was parting ways with Owens and was once again working with Tim's predecessor, Matt Barlow, who originally left ICED EARTH in 2003.
According to the Cleveland Scene, Owens is still being managed by Wendy Dio, wife of metal legend Ronnie James Dio. BEYOND FEAR remains signed to SPV Records, which also handles ICED EARTH's recorded output. The singer may move forward with a new WINTERS BANE album and tour, if the project generates label interest; BANE bassist Dennis Hayes was dismissed from ICED EARTH along with Owens.
New Starofash Song Online
"The World Spins For You", from the new STAROFASH album has been posted on the Candlelight Records MySpace page. Behind the name STAROFASH is musician and songwriter Heidi Solberg Tveitan, also known as Ihriel from the experimental metal act Peccatum. After several years of releases and tours in Europe and USA with Peccatum, she debuted as a solo artist in 2001 with the record “Iter.Viator” (Jester Records/VME). In the years following “Iter.Viator” she has been busy with the last Peccatum releases, the Hardingrock project and have together with Vegard Tveitan been running the production company Mnemosyne and Symphonique Studio. In addition to this she has actively worked with band tutoring and concert arranging for youth in her local community.
On her upcoming album, THE THREAD (Candlelight Records/Mnemosyne Productions), Heidi’s collaborators include the German musician and composer Markus Reuter and the Japanese cyber-punk writer Kenji Siratori. Musically this album explores new ground in instrumentation and structure, yet continues the cinematic and elegant atmosphere of previous recordings. Over constantly changing sonic sceneries, the compelling melody is still the leading thread from beginning to end.
Soilent Green Announce New Album Title
Southern sludge grind-metallers SOILENT GREEN will release their new album, "Inevitable Collapse in the Presence of Conviction", on April 15, 2008 via Metal Blade Records. The CD was helmed by Erik Rutan (HATE ETERNAL, ex-MORBID ANGEL) at Mana Recording in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Touted as "one of the ten most important hard and heavy bands" by Rolling Stone magazine, SOILENT GREEN has been releasing consistently brutal and groove-laden albums since their first full-length, "Pussysoul", in 1994.
SOILENT GREEN are true road warriors and have played a countless number of shows and toured with bands like PANTERA, CLUTCH, MORBID ANGEL, EYEHATEGOD, BRUTAL TRUTH, ANAL CUNT, NAPALM DEATH, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, GWAR, and ISIS, just to name a few.
Puscifer To Release DVD Single
The Pulse of Radio reports: TOOL frontman Maynard James Keenan will release a DVD for the song and video "Queen B", from his side project PUSCIFER, on Tuesday (January 8). Keenan wrote in a post at the PUSCIFER MySpace page, "The 'Queen B' DVD is out on Tuesday. Limited edition, so get them while they last. Also working on a 7" release for 'Queen B'. Limited as well." Keenan also stated that he was working on additional videos, and added that a forthcoming 12" vinyl version of PUSCIFER's debut album, "V is for Vagina", will contain previously unreleased songs.
The "Queen B" video (see below) features some bizarre and funny animation in the style of some of TOOL's clips. Keenan told The Pulse of Radio that people often miss the sense of humor in TOOL and projects like PUSCIFER. "A lot of this project came from a comedy background, back in the mid-'90s when comedians used to gather together weekly at a club called Tantrum run by Laura Milligan and try out their new ideas," he said. "And PUSCIFER was there, you know, almost every week doing something. Yeah, so I think, you know, a lot of people miss some of the sense of humor that's presented in TOOL and PUSCIFER because it's just overshadowed by the intense subject matter. They think that's all that it's about."
Keenan did not reveal the contents of the "Queen B" DVD.
Keenan issued PUSCIFER's debut disc last October through his own label.
TOOL does not have any new tour dates announced for 2008. The band released a DVD for its track "Vicarious" last month. More...
Hellhammer Album Details Revealed
The following message has been posted by Celtic Frost:
With the release of "Demon Entrails" on February 18, 2008 the days of numerous sub-standard bootlegs of the classic Hellhammer demos "Death Fiend", "Triumph of Death" and "Satanic Rites" are finally over! Currently also working on a book dealing with the history of Hellhammer, founder Tom Gabriel Fischer points out the importance of this release:
"The release of these demos is very significant to both Martin Eric Ain and me. No matter how one looks at Hellhammer, this was our first recorded music so many years ago, and it represents the radicalness of our own lives at the time. These demos became the foundation to everything we later created in Celtic Frost. Hell reigned on earth."
"Demon Entrails" has been specially re-mastered from copies of the original master tapes under the supervision of Tom Gabriel Fischer, and the demos now represent Hellhammer exactly as the band sounded when recording these songs in June and December of 1983. Drawing from a wealth of previously unknown historical liner-notes, material and artwork, as well as plenty of unreleased Hellhammer photos from 1982 to 1984, "Demon Entrails" features all lyrics and essays detailing the individual demo recording sessions.

A new track from the forthcoming Averse Sefira album, entilted "Descension," has been posted on the Candlelight Records Myspace page. Candlelight Records has set a February 12 North Amerian release date for "Advent Parallax," the new full-length album from Texas-based AVERSE SEFIRA. Produced by Tore Stjerna (WATAIN, IN BATTLE), the CD features stunning artwork created by renowned artist/illustrator Jos A. Smith (cover artist for the first BATHORY album).
As previously reported, prior to the album's release, the band will team up with ROTTING CHRIST, IMMOLATION, and BELPHEGOR for a 26-day American tour. "Advent Parallax" is the trio's first in their already decade-long career to find proper international distribution.

Warmachine Dispute Dave Mustaine Claims
Toronto's WARMACHINE recently finished first - with 21% of the vote - in the Who Will Support MEGADETH In Europe? poll, conducted via TheLiveLine.com.
However, Warmachine is not opening up for Megadeth across Europe in February and March, EVILE is.
Warmachine vocalist/guitarist Joe DiTaranto has issued the following statement: "I have to address a matter that I am very unhappy about. Dave Mustaine has stated that 'Warmachine do not have the means to do the tour.' This is completely untrue! We had more than enough means to do the tour (ie. tour support, work visas, passports, crew, etc.). Dave nor his management have not even bothered to contact us at all during this whole thing. So he/they would not be aware of that."
Despite this setback, Warmachine will perform live at The Kathedral in Toronto, ON on Sunday, January 20th.

October File Withdraw From Prong Tour
October File have issued the following statement regarding their withdrawal from the European tour in support of Prong:
"Due to illness and with deep regret and disappointment we have had to cancel our participation in the Prong tour. Steve our bassist contracted an ear infection over Christmas, which aggravated what was previously only very mild Tinnitus. Steve sought immediate treatment and advice during the Xmas break and we had hoped it would clear up in time for him to participate in the tour. After rehearsal on Sunday just prior to the tour his condition got much worse to the extend he was in severe pain."
"The doctors have advised him that he cannot until after seeing specialist advice and getting the correct ear protection continue to be exposed to loud noise. We had hoped Steve’s infection would clear up enough so that he could get proper protection fitted in time to do the tour but they cannot fit these plugs for him until his infection has cleared, which unfortunately for him his infection and severe Tinnitus is still on-going."
"We cannot express the disappointment we feel at this time, we were so looking forward to this tour and we know a lot of people were looking forward to seeing us. We can only hope Steve gets well enough to continue and we hope that soon we can announce new dates. We wish Prong the very best for the dates."

Abysmal Dawn Currently Mixing New Album
Abysmal Dawn issue the following update on their Myspace page:
"We've been in and out of John Haddad's (INTRONAUT, EYES OF FIRE) new studio since November and things are finally starting to come together."
"Following a bit of downtime finishing up some lyrics, vocals were tracked a few days after December 25th. After about six hours of intense screaming and growling my voice gave out and I had to come back two days latter to track the rest. All that punishment was worth it though, because I'm very confident that these are the sickest vocals I've put to tape yet! We even had our friend Jacob from RECIPROCAL come in and do some guest vocals on the track 'Twilight's Fallen.' Some very sick sounds will meet all your ears soon indeed!"
"Everyone played their hearts out on this album and I think you can feel the intensity in all our performances. The mixing process is close to done and we can't believe how heavy this one is sounding! Quite frankly, we feel this album is ABYSMAL DAWN's best yet and will destroy "From Ashes" by far! Maybe it's just us though, so we'll let you be the judge." More...

The band are holed up at Red Devil Recording in Stoughton, MA with Rich Spillberg (former WARGASM guitarist) handling the production duties alongside Meliah Rage mainman Anthony Nichols. Drum tracks are all but finished, and the band flew in METAL CHURCH frontman Ronny Munroe this past weekend to lay down vocals on 'Last Rites', "one of many tunes on the new slab that lean toward Meliah's thrashier roots, which is sure to please hardcore fans and garner the band some new listeners in the process," according to a band update.
Bassist Darren Lourie heads into the studio this month to lay down his tracks, with the rest of the band to follow over the course of the winter. The band have added a couple of pictures from this past weekend's session at their Myspace page.
Resurrection To Release New Album In May
RESURRECTION have posted the following update:
“Pre-production has begun for our new album slated for release worldwide on May 4, 2008. The songs are coming together very nicely and following a similar formula as our ‘Embalmed’ album and drummer Gus Rios is a perfect fit for our style of metal.
This album will surprise the metal community. It’s like we have picked up where we left off before we broke up in ‘96!! We are holding true to our death metal roots and style of playing and hope that the younger generation of metalheads will see what Florida death metal is all about. Song titles so far are: ‘Buried Alive,’ ‘Coward,’ ‘Death By Desire.’ The album is as of yet untitled and will be released via Massacre Records in Europe and Index Entertainment for the rest of the world.”

Ipsissimus Prepare To Release Debut EP
Connecicut black metal power trio IPSISSIMUS, whose lineup includes ex-CAPHARNAUM/CATALYST guitarist Ryan Adams (a.k.a. His Emissary), recently entered the studio to record its "Three Secrets of Fatima" debut EP, which the band intends to self-release in a limited, specially-packaged edition while it decides upon a label for licensing/distribution. According to a press release, this CD "promises to be a landmark of tenchical religious black metal, with themes drawn from drummer Haimatokharmes doctoral studies at a prestigious Ivy League university."
In the band's less-than-one-year existence, IPSISSIMUS has performed with scene luminaries such as NACHTMYSTIUM, ENSLAVED, DARK FUNERAL, UNLEASHED, BELPHEGOR and BAPHOMETS HORNS.
IPSISSIMUS intends for its February 6, 2008 date with ROTTING CHRIST, IMMOLATION, BELPHAGOR and AVERSE SEFIRA to coincide with the release of the new EP — to be followed by a live ritual featuring fellow Connecticut hatemongers BAPHOMETS HORNS.
Benediction Issue Year-End Update
Long-running UK extreme metallers BENEDICTION have issued the following update:
"Well, that went quick! We'd like to thank everyone who came to any of the festivals we played, and supported us in 2007. The biggest surprise for BENEDICTION was the response from you all when we hit the stage. It was not expected to have the crowd going crazy through every song we played at every festival, you all have very good memories for old songs! The fact that we have not released anything since 2001 made the support of us even more unexpected."
"Well, now we are in the middle of sorting our next release. 'Killing Music' will be in your grubby hands in early summer 2008. Things are going well and this year will see a whole new set list instead of just the 'greatest hits' that we have trawled around for the last few years. We hope that like in 2007, a lot of the festivals will want us on their bill and if they do, then we will be there." More...

Masachist Recording Debut Album
Guitarist Thrufel (AZARATH, YATTERING) has issued the following update regarding his MASACHIST project, also featuring Daray (drummer of VADER, VESANIA and NEOLITHIC):
"We are currently recording our debut album 'Death March Fury' at Progresja studio in Warsaw [Poland]. So far we have recorded the drum and guitar parts. As for the drums, I have to say that Daray totaly outdid himself this time. Absolute fury, violence and bone breaking! In his own words, he has never before recorded such insane drum lines, and I must add that this album will once again prove that he truly deserves to wear that black belt of extreme drumming!!! I have played with many amazing drummers, including Zombek (YATTERING), Inferno and recently Adam from LOST SOUL (awesome death metal band), but fuck! Right now Daray is simply the best! Non-believers will soon be proven wrong" More...
