The band began as a five-piece and released its debut EP, "Goodbye is when the Casket Closes…" in September 2006. However since the release, guitarist Paul Slaunwhite has had to step down due to nerve damage in his hand and wrist. The group has continued onward as a four-piece for over a year but has finally found a more than adequate replacement in Keith.
ORCHID'S CURSE will perform with their new lineup on the "Heavy Music Spotlight" at the East Coast Music Awards this February and will share the stage with their new labelmates IRON GIANT. More...

Berlin, Germany's THE OCEAN have issued the following update:
"We are looking for a long-term live cello player for upcoming tours in Europe and the US and possible future recording sessions."
"What we're looking for is a skilled musician with good intonation; someone who can read sheet music and has classical training but also the rock / metal background and understanding that is inevitable in order to enjoy long tours and life on the road - ideally, someone who can play both cello and viola and switch between these instruments."
"As much as we love acoustic instruments, our past experiences have taught us that in a live environment the only thing that works is an E-cello."
"If you're interested or know anyone who might be, please write an email to email@example.com ."
The Ocean's latest release, Precambrian, is available now via Metal Blade Records.
Finland's TORTURE KILLER have issued the following update in regards to their previously announced European mini-tour:

Guitarist/main composer Obsidian C. from Norway's KEEP OF KALESSIN has issued the following update:
"Members can now log in and join KOK during the last frantic night of production. We were supposed to deliver the final mix for mastering today (January 31st) at 3 pm, however we decided to do some changes to the title track in the last minute."
"After a phone call with the mastering studio we were able to postpone the upload of the files until 7 am tomorrow morning."
"As we're moving close to the deadline, me and Rune (Stavnesli - producer) had only two hours of sleep last night and we're in way over our heads by doing these changes so late..."

We will try to write some stuff here as often as we can during this tour when we find an access to internet. So crazy stories, wild pictures and insane action is to be expected to find in this blog during the next one and a half weeks!" More...
DARK NEW DAY, which features former members of CREED, SKRAPE, SEVENDUST, DOUBLEDRIVE, STEREOMUD and STUCK MOJO, have issued the following update:
"Just want to let everyone know we're working on a release date. We're still getting a few things organized (artwork, band pics, singles, remixes, etc). We get a little frustrated with the process too believe me. It'd be different if we had put out a record a year ago or for the matter two years ago. We do realize that it's frustrating for all of you who have been so patient with us. We're doing everything we can to speed this up. We want more than anything to get this damn thing out and we're real close. We want to wait til all the artwork's done to redo our MySpace page and official dnd site. We want it to be right. The second we get a release date we'll stream some new video stuff and put up a new song for all that have been waiting. We've been through alot to get to this point so if it takes just a bit longer to do it right then why not. Thanks so much for your support!"
SLEEP TERROR have, announced that they will no longer be performing at this year’s highly anticipated Maryland Deathfest, which will take place from May 23rd to 25th at the Sonar in Baltimore, MD:
“I regret to say that it just can’t happen. It’s just too long of ways for an opening 30 minute slot and I’m not even sure what the drummer situation was going to be. Dave McGraw expressed interest, but at the time he will be busy with CATTLE DECAPITATION and it would be too risky only getting a couple practices in just for one gig when we haven’t even rehearsed in nearly a year much less played a show."
"I am not really sure what future this project holds for being a live act anymore to be fully honest. There are too many layers, harmonies, and all kinds of craziness in the recordings for it to be justified as a live act with only 2 players. This has been the main thing that has affected my constant breakdowns and spiraled decisions and constant stress trying to make it work, especially in the last couple years. We’ll see. But for now.. no MD fest and no shows period anymore for awhile if not permanently. This may have to remain a recording project for obvious reasons. I apologize to any affected for the show cancellation. Luckily this is pretty good advance notice so no extreme harm done. Thanks for understanding." More...
Montreal's BENEATH THE MASSACRE is currently on the road in Europe for the first time as part of a tour with MISERY INDEX, DESPISED ICON and ANNOTATIONS OF AN AUTOPSY.
Commented frontman Elliot Desgagnes: "The tour is nothing short of amazing! The crowd reactions are overcoming our expectations. Touring with our bros in DESPISED ICON and MISERY INDEX is only making it even better. All the shows have so far been crazy. We really enjoy the European crowd; it almost feels like we're at home."
Upon completion of the current European trek, BENEATH THE MASSACRE will embark on a U.S. headlining tour, featuring support from SEE YOU NEXT TUESDAY and BORN OF OSIRIS. More...

According to Headbanger's Blog, "New York Blood" — the horror/gangster film executive-produced by HATEBREED and KINGDOM OF SORROW frontman Jamey Jasta and directed by Nick Oddo ("I Hate You", "Luscious Johnny: The Wrestler") — will debut on March 1 at the 2008 New York International Independent Film & Video Festival. A DVD release will follow in April.
"New York Blood" stars AGNOSTIC FRONT guitarist Vinnie Stigma in his acting debut as a drug dealer and gangster who runs a New York whore house. The movie also features Marvin W. Schwartz ("I Hate You") and there are cameos by various members of the New York Hardcore community, including SHEER TERROR singer Paul Bearer.
Classic Rock Revisited has issued an interview with MOTÖRHEAD mainman Lemmy Kilmister. An excerpt from the interview, conducted by Jeb Wright, follows...
Q: Motörhead has inspired bands like METALLICA and GUNS N' ROSES. Is it nice when they tip the hat to you and give you credit?
A: "It is nice when they acknowledge you. Metallica recorded four of our songs on the Garage album - that was a handy little paycheck. Motörhead never had a hit record in the States; we never even hit the Top 100."
Q: Does it bother you that Metallica went on to fame and fortune to a level Motörhead didn't?
A: "It is just the luck of the draw; it is just that simple. You have to be in the right place at the right time. We were too late for the first British Invasion and too early for the second one."
Q: You have become more popular as Lemmy in America than Motörhead.
A: "I'm grateful for what I've got; I'm not complaining. I think I have become popular because I don't let people down. The worst thing is to admire someone and then have them let you down; that's awful. You meet someone who you think is going to be excellent and they end up being a complete fucking asshole."

Melbourne, Australia-based metallers THE ETERNAL have issued the following up[date:
"We have had a busy month and a half since our last update! Terry (Vainoras - guitar) and Mark (Kelson - guitar/vocals) spent the end of December and the first weeks of the new year tracking the mammoth amount of guitars that we have written for Kartika. So with a bunch of long days and sleepless nights we managed to get through everything with the ever so hard working engineer Ian Miller. Ian is from Adelaide and came down to Melbourne for a few weeks to help make this all become reality for us. Working with Ian on this album has been like having an extra member on board, he has been working amazing hours on this project and we think it would be hard to of made it to this point without him.
After the completion of electric guitars and on Ian's return to Adelaide, Mark slipped into Palm Studios, Melbourne for 16 days to Track bass/acoustic guitars and vocals with Endel Rivers who most of you know from our last album Sleep Of Reason. Endel has been working overseas for the last year and we were lucky enough to catch him on a brief return to Australia and even luckier to get some studio time with him! It was worth the efforts in the end and we are very happy with the results. Mark's vocal work is set to outshine his efforts on 'Sleep Of Reason'. Tracking all the main & backing vocals, Mark had his work cut out for him as there are much more backing vocals and harmonies this time around.
So what is next? All files from the Palm Studio sessions have gone to Ian Miller in Adelaide, so he can begin the huge task of editing and mixing Kartika. We also have a few additional guests jumping on board with Duncan Patterson (ION) adding mandolin to the track 'Kartika' and Russian singer Emily A. Saaen (Ion) adding some additional backing vocals.
Within the next few weeks we will begin the mixing process and aim to have it all in the bag by the end of March, we will keep you posted!"
PORCUPINE TREE have confirmed their first ever live concerts in Australia in April:
25 - Melbourne, Australia - The Metro
26 - Sydney, Australia - The Enmore
27 - Brisbane, Australia - The Tivoli
The Nil Recurring mini album, previously only available through the Porcupine TRee store and at the band's shows, will be given a full release on Peaceville Records on February 18th. The new edition will differ only in that it comes in a crystal case rather than a digipack. The mini-album (29 minutes of music) was written during Porcupine Tree's Fear Of A Blank Planet sessions, completed over the Summer of 2007, and is now presented as a cohesive, self-contained Porcupine Tree work in its own right.
ALICE COOPER is headed to New Zealand for a Rock Festival featuring fellow rockers KISS and OZZY OSBOURNE and is stopping over in Melbourne for two very special exclusive performances – his only in Australia for 2008 following his sell out national tour in July 2007.
The Palms at Crown is a very intimate theatre and provides fans an unprecedented opportunity to get up close to their idol. The limited capacity means that these shows will sell out in record time. There is no possibility of additional shows once the two concerts are sold out.
The timeless rocker whose hits include 'School's Out', 'Poison', 'Department Of Youth' and 'Only Women Bleed' is currently recording a new album.
His theatrical shows have become legendary and his influence on three generations of rock bands is his legacy. Alice broke through with his first bona fide hit I'm Eighteen in 1971. Alice Cooper has released 28 albums which have sold over 50 million copies world-wide.
His most recent album was Dirty Diamonds released in 2005 and he is currently recording a new album scheduled for release later in 2008. Cooper has also just released his autobiography, Golf Monster – A Rock and Roller's Twelve Steps to Becoming a Golf Addict which chronicles his incredible career and battle with alcoholism (which he successfully beat in 1985) and passion for the game of golf.
Alice Cooper has always defied convention. The triumphs and tribulations heard on Alice Cooper's albums continue to thrill millions all over the world to this day, with his name and image remaining an inextricable part of our language and culture, as familiar as they are enduring.
Tickets go on sale February 11 through Ticketek Ph 1300 795 012. An internet pre-sale will commence on February 7 for My Ticketek Members.

Legendary death metal vocalist Chris Barnes (SIX FEET UNDER, ex-CANNIBAL CORPSE) has officially parted ways with the Finish death metal band TORTURE KILLER, who took their name from a SIX FEET UNDER song back when they were a SFU and OBITUARY cover band.
"I am no longer involved with, or a member of, the band TORTURE KILLER," says Barnes in a statement. "The split is mutual; it was just time for me to move forward. I wish the band well in all future plans and musical endeavors."
TORTURE KILLER has scheduled a string of Europen tour dates featuring Juri Sallinen on vocals. "Sallinen appeared on our 2005 split 7" (Woodcut Records) and has helped us doing random live shows in our home country since 2004 so for us things are like they've been for years now and together we've molded into a properly working live band which we now want to represent to audiences," the group said in a statement. SENTIMENT, the Finnish band featuring former SILENT VOICES vocalist Michael Henneken, has issued the following update:
"At the moment we are still looking for suitable label(s) and management. We are also rehearsing like hell but unfortunately we will not have any live performances before we have the album out so that there is something to promote.
"We also have a lineup change — the duties of the bass player will be taken over by Janne Laaksonen (KILPI, THE ROCK CITY BAND, KINGS OF BALLADS). He is a firm musician, a great bass player and first of all, a great character with a wonderful sense of humour. The decision was made due to the sheer impossibility of rehearsing with Ville, since he lives in Austria. We wish all the best to Ville and he will always be our friend and bro. We will take new promotional pics as soon as we hit 2008 and all the partying will be done." More...

ASSAILANT was previously scheduled to film a video for one of the new CD cuts with Ove Lingvall of Village Road Film.
The band's debut album, "Nemesis Within", was released in 2006 via Dockyard 1.

Megadeth frontman, Dave Mustaine, has posted the following message on the band's official forum:
"This is to Megadeth, Dave Mustaine, Dean VMNT, or any other Dean model, the staff, distributors, players and the owner of Dean guitars.
"It has come to my attention that a off-color joke that I said at last year's NAMM, which I said this year's too, has offended some of you.
"For that I am truly sorry, and Dean Guitars and the other endorsers are much classier than I behaved that day, and I regret possibly embarrassing the company. Not everyone watching was an adult or needed to hear the word that I said.
"To the girl that the joke was on, I can't really say that I was sorry the first time, because she called legendary guitarist and fellow Dean endorser Leslie West by another name, and said she was a classical pianist.
"I, of course was crude and insulted her and wasn't thinking about the fact that we are all family here - even if she did say that. I can say that I am sorry now that I said it.
"I brought it up again at NAMM when asked if this year was better than last, and I brought it back up in an attempt to be funny and forget the fact that I'm having some personal matters.
"So Elliot, Dean, Josh, David, and all of the Dean staff, Dean distributors, Dean fans, and anyone watching or that was in the line that day, I am sorry for my bad attitude, its just I was struggling with my private stuff (its not like I haven't had a lot to deal with - but that's no excuse) and it would have remained private if I didn't love my relationship with my guitar company, and feel the need to take responsibility for my actions.
"Anyway, I am off for the airport - really sad - but I know you will make me happy as soon as the first lights go off!
"My love to Justis (Happy Birthday on (January) 11 - 16 years old... Jeez, where'd the time go?) and Electra (who just turned 10 and is going to be on the Animal Planet channel with her new show) and to all of my Droogies everywhere.
"Now let's unleash this fury!

The second coming of Megadeth's acclaimed traveling metal festival Gigantour arrives on both DVD and CD April 22 via Image Entertainment. Conceived in 2005 by Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine, Gigantour resurrects metal's focus on stellar musicianship.
The Gigantour DVD and CD follow Image Entertainment's fall 2006 release of the debut Gigantour CD and DVD, which featured performances by Megadeth, Dream Theater, Fear Factory, Anthrax (CD only), Nevermore, Life of Agony, Symphony X, Dry Kill Logic and Bobaflex.
Gigantour 2 features over an hour of performances by iconic and influential heavy metal pioneers Megadeth, along with Lamb of God, Opeth, Arch Enemy, Overkill, The Smashup, and Into Eternity. Recorded in DTS 5.1 surround sound, the DVD version also features a behind the scenes look at the 2006 tour, while both the DVD and CD offer a hidden bonus track--Megadeth's "Peace Sells."
The release of the Gigantour 2 DVD and CD coincides with this year's Earth Day--perfect, really, since MUSTAINE has said, with a laugh, about Gigantour's mission of emphasizing true musicianship and virtuosity: " I think that in a small way, we are cleaning up the environment of crappy bands."
Meanwhile, in February Megadeth heads to Europe--where recently announced new guitarist Chris Broderick (Nevermore, Jag Panzer) will make his debut with the band alongside Mustaine, drummer Shawn Drover, and bassist James Lomenzo, before returning for this year's Gigantour.
The 29-date North American trek kicks off April 12 at The Fillmore in Denver and criss-crosses the U.S. and Canada until its May 22 finale at the Mesa Amphitheatre in Phoenix . Joining Megadeth on this year's tour are Scandinavian death metal band In Flames, Finland's Children of Bodom, Arizona's modern extreme Job for a Cowboy, and Oakland, CA heavy power trio High on Fire.
