Slayer Appearances

It will be a busy day for Slayer on Monday, leading up to the release of God Hates Us All the next day, September 11. Among the scheduled promotional events, the band will appear live on radio's Rockline at 11:30 PM ET/8:30 PM PT (fans can call in at 1-800-344-ROCK (7625) and submit questions in advance to Rockline@aol.com), appear at a release party held at the Hollywood Forever cemetery, and then head to an in-store for the midnight on-sale of the record at Wherehouse Music in Corona, California.

System Riot Update

As we reported on Tuesday, System of a Down's free concert in Hollywood never took place due to overcrowding and unprepared security and a melee ensued due to mishandling of the event, resulting in six arrests and the lost of $30,000 of the band's gear (including a brand-new drum set). As you might expect, the band is very upset about this especially since the members wanted to play and weren't permitted to. Additionally, the fallout has put an end to free outdoor shows in Hollywood in the future. (Vocalist Serj Tankian has posted a letter at systemofadown.com explaining what happened and discussing how it might have been avoided.) And while System's in-store appearance at Tower Records in W. Hollywood on Tuesday was canceled to sidestep further drama, the band will appear at the Tower outpost in New York City today.
