The Bronx Readies Self-Titled Third Album

Los Angeles based punk/metal band The Bronx will release their latest, self-titled album to stores and online nationwide on November 11th, 2008. This will be the group's third album. Beginning November 1st the band will tour in Canada and the U.S. with Everytime I Die. Shortly after, the group will head out for a long string of headlining shows. The upcoming release of THE BRONX, will be released on the group's own White Drugs label, with help of New York independent label Original Signal Recordings.

Production duties went to Dave Shiffman, who has worked with Mars Volta, System of a Down and Rage Against the Machine and was recorded at The Bronx's very own Big Game Lodge studio in Los Angeles. Additionally they enlisted Joby Ford, the band's guitarist, to create the album's cover art as he has done the past two records.

One of the upcoming album's tracks, "Knifeman," can currently be heard on the band's MySpace page.

Audiences nationwide were able to catch The Bronx this past summer on the big screen in the theatrical release of "The Germs: What We Do Is Secret," as they were featured musicians in the film, playing the historic punk rock group Black Flag.

All confirmed dates follow. The band will also be touring the UK in late October and Australia in December. The start of the campaign begins now but doesn't end anytime in the near future or even into 2009.

Here are the latest The Bronx tour dates (more dates to be announced): More...

Metal band ARKAEA has joined KOCH Records' burgeoning hard rock/metal roster and will release its debut album on March 10, 2009. ARKAEA features Fear Factory drummer Raymond Herrera and guitar player Christian Olde Wolbers, along with Threat Signal singer Jon Howard.

Jon Howard comments, “With the recent signing of ARKAEA to KOCH, and a release date of our debut album approaching in 2009, I couldn't be more ecstatic! We've progressed so much as a band in the past year, molding our musical styles together. I feel we've created something very original that I can be proud of for the rest of my life. I can’t wait to see where this ride is headed.”

KOCH Records VP of Metal Scott Givens weighs in, "I’m really pleased to be working again with Raymond and Christian on such an amazing project and that they have chosen KOCH to be its home. I’ve no doubt that when the record is finished everyone who hears it will be as blown away as I was when I first heard the demos.”

The band has enlisted Threat Signal bass player, Pat Kavanaugh, and have just begun recording. Song titles include "Break The Silence," "Blackened Sky," "Beneath The Shades of Grey" and "Awakening.” The album is being recorded at Temple Studios in Chatsworth, California, owned by Raymond Herrera and will have Christian Olde Wolbers at the helm of production with engineer Jeremy Blair (Guns & Roses, Fear Factory).

Buried Inside Begins Recording New Album

Ottawa, Ontario’s BURIED INSIDE has entered the studio to begin recording the follow-up to their Relapse debut, "Chronoclast."

This as-yet-untitled album is being recorded in Salem, MA with Kurt Ballou (DISFEAR, COLISEUM, GENGHIS TRON) at Ballou’s Godcity Studios. Mixing will follow at Red Room Recordings with Matt Bayles (MASTODON, MINUS THE BEAR, RUSSIAN CIRCLES). The record will see a February 2009 international release via Relapse Records.

BURIED INSIDE’s Andrew Tweedy recently checked in from the studio with some insight on the new record’s direction; “This record isn't heavier, or faster, or more melodic than Chronoclast was. Every record we've released has been significantly different from the one before it, and this is no different. What it is not is Chronoclast part 2, or even an expansion on that record. Chronoclast was recorded almost five years ago, and was written over the course of several years before that, so obviously our tastes and ideas have grown and mutated considerably over that time. This record still sounds very much like Buried Inside, in that it is passionate music with a lot of intensity, however hopefully that is as close as it gets to records we've released in the past.”

Crown The Lost Welcomes New Drummer

Crown The Lost issue the following message welcoming their new drummer, Kevin Antonacci:

"You know, we figured finding a drummer in Pittsburgh was about as likely as finding the proverbial needle in a haystack. Or an empty beer can in Renaldi's refridgerator. Or an unwashed pair of girls flair jeans in Grimes' closet. In fact, we were so certain we weren't going to be able to land a new sticksman, we took new band promo photos with just the four of us, but it appears we have found our guy in the form of Kevin Antonacci." Megadeth Drummer Posts Studio Update

Megadeth drummer Shawn Drover has posted the following message online:

"San Diego - Day 3.

90% done with what I am working on here in San Diego at the new Megadeth recording studio - everything looks killer now (my past-life work skills have not left me, thankfully) a few little touch-ups, and all will be done on my end. It's been a fun trip. Kind of reminds me a bit of how Evolver was done, all of us taking part in creating something cool, that should really benefit us all in the long run. Anyways, enough of this, I am heading for the BEACH!

Give me a call on my "The Live Line" 877-388-3786."

Be well,
Shawn.

Cannibal Corpse Bassist Checks In From The Studio

Cannibal Corpse bassist Alex Webster has posted the following studio report:

"Alex from CANNIBAL here checking in from Mana Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida. Paul (Mazurkiewicz) has finished all the drum tracks for our new album, and we think he did an amazing job. Things really went smoothly with the drum tracking this time, and that gave us a little extra time for Paul to get creative with some of the drum parts. Everything is still fast and brutal as you'd expect, but there are a few different rhythmic ideas happening that we think our fans will appreciate. The next step for us will be to start working on a guitar sound, and then begin guitar tracking. The sound of the rhythm guitar is one of the most important things on a metal album, so we will take our time and make sure that we get the heaviest sound possible. The recording of the rhythm guitars will be something we'll take our time with as well. Rob (Barrett, guitar), Pat (O'Brien, guitar) and producer Erik Rutan (HATE ETERNAL, ex-MORBID ANGEL) are truly perfectionists when it comes to guitar tracking, they'll settle for nothing less than a flawless performance. That kind of dedication can make for a challenging recording session, but when the end result is a crushingly heavy album it's more than worth the time and effort."
