Spineshank Reunites, Posts New Music Online
Spineshank are now officially back with lead singer Jonny Santos after five years of inactivity. The band have apparantly completed five new songs and plan on writing around 15 more and then heading into the studio to record a new album. The band has posted a brand new song entitled, "Born Conform Repent" online at their official Myspace page.
Drummer Tommy Decker says: "All the bad blood and differences that led to the break up have all been put behind us. It feels right again, were not being pressured to write a single or look a certain way, were doing it because we want to."
Singer Jonny Santos adds: "I think splitting when we did might have been a good decision. We were at a high point in our career, we ended it on our owns terms."
The band has released three studio albums in their career, 1998' "Strictly Diesel", 2000's "The Height Of Callousness" and 2003's "Self-Destructive Pattern." The latter album was able to nominate the band for a Grammy with its single, "Smothered."
No word has been given yet on what will happen with Silent Civilian, the band Santos formed after his departure from Spineshank.

^I shrug my shoulders at most nu-metal, but there are a few bands I can deal with. Early Korn, the occasional Linkin Park song, Mudvayne, Breaking Benjamin, Spineshank and so on. One of my mates loves ALL nu-metal though, he keeps trying to show me new bands he's found... I swear to god I literally cannot tell the difference - ANY difference - one band to another for most of it.

Spineshank is a good band, though I've never heard Self Destructive Pattern, just the first two discs. New song is good.
They definitely have an industrial sound to their music. Height of ... is a lot heavier than most of the Nu-Metal and they don't rap at all so I don't really consider them to be Nu-Metal.

I'm quite exited about this for some reason. They were one of my favs back in the day, I remember hearing "New Disease" on the radio, and in a town where everyone's favorite band was Disturbed, It was quite a breath of fresh air. I think it's just nostalgia kicking in because I haven't listened to those cds for a while. But i'm eager to see them reinvent themselves in the post nu metal era. They actually have to show some major choppage for anyone to even give them the time of day so let's cross our fingers!

I wrestled a bear once????
SDP was their most solid album. Unlike most opinions I hear, I actually enjoyed Strictly Diesel quite a lot. It was a lot more industrial than nu-metal, apart from the rapping. But the rapping consisted of such unusual lyrical structures I even loved most of that. And that cover of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" was brilliant! They completely made that song theirs. SDP and HoC remain their most solid albums to date, though.

Hey Psythe! Please Check out I wrestled a bear once! They're crazy! Also, I'm going to buy the drawing Circles cd by textures. i've never even heard a milisecond of their music so what can I expect? Maybe similar to Between the buried and me or The human abstract Style? Also, Should I buy polarity as well?

Yeah man, get Polarity as well. It's not as structured as Drawing Circles, but that allows for a greater degree of experimentation. Being their debut, you can definitely see how they grew from a strong start when you listen to both these albums. As for what to expect, Textures are... tech metal. On a thrashy base. I wouldn't call them thrash metal (at all) but they kind of blend thrash and death metal into a tech metal form. I guess. Genres are so convoluted these days it's hard to know and explain what any band is anymore. Polarity has this wicked - I think it's a saxophone? - segment, before I actually heard it I was like "I don't know about this..." but Textures are just f***ing brilliant, man. There aren't many bands I can recommend as strongly - Dub Trio and Yakuza are two.
I'll look into I Wrestled A Bear Once, man, I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be a band at first, odd name hahah.

It's really great, I don't know why they're not listed on Metal Underground. Alaskan flounder basket and Tastes like kevin bacon are awesome tracks. Thanks again!
