Fireball Ministry's Second Great Awakening

FIREBALL MINISTRY will perform their last U.S. show of 2003 November 10 at The Viper Room in Los Angeles. Next, the band will launch a European trek December 3 in Germany with famed British hard-rockers Uriah Heep and heavy metal gurus Blue Oyster Cult. These dates are on the heels of FIREBALL MINISTRY’s October U.S. tour in support of THE SECOND GREAT AWAKENING, their newly released Nuclear Blast debut with opening act Puny Human (whose drummer is Iann Robinson from MTV News). The Los Angeles stop on the tour--also FIREBALL MINISTRY’s CD release party--at the Troubadour brought out members of Slipknot and System of A Down.

Meanwhile, FIREBALL MINISTRY’s current single “Flatline” is beginning to gain momentum at radio, climbing both the metal and rock charts. In addition, the video for “Flatline” has been officially added to MTV2’s “Headbanger’s Ball” and will soon hit other video outlets. Directed by Dylan Carter, the clip takes place at a warehouse in downtown Los Angeles and features the band’s live performance contrasted with a hooded spy planting cameras and filming the band voyeuristically.

On THE SECOND GREAT AWAKENING, Grammy Award-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters One By One, Danzig, Velvet Revolver) underlines the co-ed band’s massive stoner-rock thunder and classic 70’s crunch in a modern sonic mix that’s melodic and unforgettable. Standout tracks include the raucous anthem “King,” the steady, heavy-hitting “Master Of None” and the haunting rock of “In The Mourning.” An homage to the cult album covers of the 70’s, THE SECOND GREAT AWAKENING features the exclusive cover artwork of cult comic artist/graphic novelist Dan Brereton.

Metallica Gets The 'South Park' Treatment

The members of Metallica were recently seen as characters on the animated TV show "South Park" (picture). No actual members of Metallica were used for voice-overs of their characters, but instead were impersonated by professional actors. The episode was a humorous take on the issue of downloading music from the Internet, a subject over which Metallica have been a target of many parodies and jokes since the Napster battle in 2000.

In other news, HMV Japan is listing December 17 as the release date for the third single from Metallica's "St. Anger" CD, "The Unnamed Feeling". The video for the track is expected to premiere later this year and the single will impact radio on December 2.
