Black Label Society Reveals New Album Details
Black Label Society have announced their eleventh studio album, "Doom Crew Inc.," out November 26 via Entertainment One (eOne). Today, the band releases the track, "Set You Free." Check out the absurdly ridiculous video for the first single, below.
The album will be available digitally, on CD and vinyl, plus a deluxe edition that includes vinyl, CD longbox, cassette and more.
The 12-track album is both a tribute to the band’s “first to bleed, last to leave'' road crew, and a salute to the legion whose support, stretching back to 1998, rivals that of the KISS Army. The stomping, heavy, bluesy, recklessly unhinged hard-rock-metal quartet are part invading horde, and part traveling carnival - summoning caffeine-fueled cacophony on records and the stage.
The songs are odes to celebration and mourning, the soundtracks to jubilant evenings and bewildering days recorded in Zakk’s home studio, the Black Vatican. On this album, Zakk trades solos and twin-guitar parts with Dario Lorina, backed by the rumble of longtime bassist, John “J.D.” DeServio, and powerhouse drummer, Jeff Fabb.
"We incorporated Father Dario even more into the solos, doubling with me and being more involved in that regard,” said frontman, Zakk Wylde. "It really, truly is a two-guitar album, more so than ever. A twin guitar band, whether it’s the Allman Brothers or Judas Priest, with harmony lines, unison lines, and trading off solos. It stemmed from the live shows, where we’d both go into the crowd and extend songs like ‘Fire It Up.’" More...
Gloryhammer Parts Ways With Vocalist
Space themed power metal band Gloryhammer has announced that they have parted company with vocalist Thomas Winkler, AKA Angus McFife. A statement from the band reads as follows:
"We regret to announce that Thomas Winkler is no longer a member of Gloryhammer. All upcoming shows (including the UK Tour with Alestorm) will continue as planned, with a new vocalist. For the Eternal Glory of Dundee.
"We have been reading all your comments and appreciate there's a lot of confusion, speculation, and sadness around our last message and we wanted to try and explain why we were so brief.
"Obviously we are all sad that it's come to this, and it's not the outcome anyone really wanted, but we felt we had no option. We currently don't want to elaborate any further, out of respect to Tom.
"All we can promise you is that we will be back, and we will do our very best to bring you a new vocalist that lives up to your expectations so we can continue to bring you Gloryhammer shows and albums, better than ever.
"We want to really thank you for your understanding and kind messages of support, it's a very sad and difficult time for us all."
Persefone Signs With Napalm Records
Napalm Records is proud to announce the signing of the outstanding progressive/melodic death metal band Persefone. Hailing out of Andorra, the five-piece outfit is known for the creation of rich soundscapes and technically precise work that sets new standards in modern extreme progressive metal.
Founded in 2001, Persefone has released five studio albums, each one showcasing the band’s myriad of musical principles: high technicality, distinct melodies, plenty of head-turning riffs and musical acrobatics. The band has toured worldwide with notable acts like Obituary and Leprous, and has hit the stages of important festivals such as Wacken Open Air, Metal Days, Brutal Assault, ProgPower and 70,000 Tons of Metal.
For their previous albums, the band collaborated with producers such as Jens Bogren (At The Gates, Haken, The Ocean), Logan Mader (Gojira, Periphery, Once Human) and Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Amaranthe, Epica). Recently, Persefone finished recording their sixth studio album, which will be released in early 2022. The album is mixed by David Castillo, who has worked with genre greats like Leprous, Soen and Opeth, and mastered by Tony Lindgren (Enslaved, Ihsahn, Sepultura).
Persefone comment the signing:
"We are excited to announce that we have signed a worldwide deal with the renowned label Napalm Records. Since we started working on the new album, we knew we wanted to bring this whole experience that is Persefone to a new level. Teaming up with Napalm Records will allow us to reach a new stage we couldn’t get to otherwise and we can't wait to show you all what we’ve been working on these last few years. Stay tuned for more announcements about our new album and tours coming up!
"The amount of hours and resources we have put into this release is way beyond any other album we have ever conceived. We have put the question mark on every little detail - from the writing process to the very last production element. Also, the commitment David has shown during this whole process definitely shows in the final sound of the album as it sounds huge, powerful and very organic. For us, every new album means a new challenge to surpass and this particular one has been no exception. For the first time ever we couldn’t be happier with the result. Much love." More...
Tetrarch Posts New Music Video Online
Rising metal stars Tetrarch recently released their trailblazing sophomore full-length album, Unstable, to rave reviews and worldwide acclaim, and also announced a slew of fall tour dates with bands such as Atreyu, Nonpoint and more. In anticipation of the return of touring season, the band is thrilled to unleash a blistering new music video for the hard-charging album anthem "Stitch Me Up."
Lead guitarist Diamond Rowe says:
"Shooting the video for 'Stitch Me Up' was super fun and we are honestly thrilled with how it came out. The way the storyline was shot has such a cinematic feel to it and the finished product just looks awesome.
"The theme of this video is kind of about being an outcast in your everyday life. You can sometimes feel like a complete freak when it seems like no one else sees things the same way that you do or has common interests, but finally meeting up with people that are like you can make you feel safe and whole. It reminds me a lot of all of us in the heavy music community and how we may be looked at in strange ways, but when we’re all together we are just one big happy family sharing our love of music." Lordi To Release Seven New Albums At Once
A monstrous project is ahead of us and without a doubt, this is as unique as Lordi's costumes and career. Mr. Lordi and his crew are announcing the release of a boxset of 7 new albums at once. The "Lordiversity“ box shall be available on November 26th as 7-CD boxset and as 7-Vinyl boxset in three different colour editions. Each album has a different genre approach (Hard Rock, Disco, Progressive Rock, Heavy Metal, AOR, Thrash/Speed Metal & Industrial Metal) and the whole concept is based on the last record "Killection“, which came out early 2020 and celebrated various chart successess.
Mr. Lordi explains: "Within a week when the Killectour was cut short in March 2020, I realized we're gonna have to use the sudden extra time somehow. It was clear that it is the time to start planning the new album, even though "Killection“ was released not even two months before. I was thinking that the most boring thing we could do after "Killection“, is to do another basic Lordi album. And I was very much enjoying the different styles of song writing, recording and production on 'Killection,' but another boring idea would have been to do a part 2. Since 'Killection' is a fictional compilation album from a fictional back catalogue that doesn't exist, I got the idea that the only thing that could top that, is to record and release that fictional back catalogue. And until Halloween 2021 the fictional back catalogue will be no longer fictional, it actually will exist... at least for the most part. My original idea was to release 10 albums, but the label said that is insane. But 7 is a number they felt that is somewhat sane, hahahaha!"
The new song "Believe Me" has it’s origin in the band fictional Disco-era. Imagine Lordi performing a classic disco track in the style ABBA, KISS or the Bee Gees in the late 70s, while Disco music hit its peak. A hilarious and entertaining idea that now becomes reality. Watch the comic clip for that track below. More...
Vio-Lence Frontman Hospitalized With COVID-19
Sean Killian, vocalist of thrash metal legends Vio-Lence, has confirmed on social media that he was taken to hospital a few days ago after contracting the COVID-19 virus. His message reads as follows:
"I entered the hospital Thursday (August 19th) to be treated for Covid. I contracted the virus from a friend who was unaware he was carrying it. I am feeling much better but my lung capacity at this time is diminished. My oxygen absorption is good and all my other symptoms have gone away. I will have a recovery period that will take some time.
"I’m sorry we have had to make adjustments to our schedule but at this time I cannot perform to the level our fans and the band expect and deserve. This will only be temporary and Vio-Lence will be back onstage better than ever."
Killian has survived a number of health scares in recent years, including making a miraculous recovery from stage four liver cirrhosis and was able to return to the stage for several shows, including last year's edition of the 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise. The band will release a new EP, "Let The World Burn" early next year.

Original Trouble Vocalist Eric Wagner Passes Away
Original Trouble vocalist Eric Wagner, who fronted the band from 1979 to 1997 and then again from 2000 to 2008, has passed away at the age of sixty two after a bout with the COVID-19 virus. His son confirmed the singer's passing on social media, commenting on Eric's band, The Skull's page:
"Hey all this is Luke Wagner his oldest son. Eric Wagner has passed away."
The Skull were originally set to tour with The Obsessed, but were forced to pull out due to four members being diagnosed with the virus. The initial statement read:
"Hey all. More bad news... We will not be able to play Psycho Vegas this Thursday. While 3 out of 4 of us who tested positive for Covid are recovering nicely... Eric Wagner’s bout with Covid has gotten worse and he was admitted to the hospital yesterday with COVID pneumonia. Positive thoughts and words will be helpful."
With Wagner at the helm, Trouble became one of the most acclaimed and beloved bands in doom metal, releasing genre classics such as their eponymous debut (which was later known as "Psalm 9") and "The Skull." After leaving in 1997, he was replaced by Exhorder frontman Kyle Thomas and formed Lid with Anathema guitarist Danny Cavanagh.
He returned to Trouble in 2000 and would eventually release one more album with the band in 2007 named "Simple Mind Condition," before leaving again in 2008, forming doom metal band The Skull four years later.
