Martyr AD set to enter studio

Following a long period of inactivity, Minneapolis metal/hardcore band Martyr AD will be entering the studio in December to record their Victory Records debut. Recording will take place at Oarfin Studios (F.O.R.) in Minneapolis and according to Victory, the material will "cover dissatisfaction with life and disgust with the general state of the world." Titled "On Earth As It Is In Hell," the album is scheduled to hit streets in April 2004 and will be supported by extensive touring from the band.

Hypocrisy Frontman To Guest On New Kataklysm CD

Hypocrisy mainman Peter Tägtgren has recorded a guest vocal appearance for the new Kataklysm album, "Serenity In Fire", due on March 8, 2004 through Nuclear Blast Records.

Says Kataklysm singer Maurizio Iacono, "Peter did a special appearance on the new album after his gig in Montreal and it's fucking killer. [Tägtgren appears] on the chorus [to] the track 'For All Our Sins'. We start mixing in this weekend. It's shaping up to be a monster record!!"

The follow-up to 2002's "Shadows and Dust" is currently being recorded at Studio Victor in Montreal. The album is being produced by Kataklysm guitarist Jean-Francois Dagenais (Misery Index, Malevolent Creation) and will be mixed at Wildsound studio in St-Zenon, Quebec.

As previously reported, the much-anticipated effort will be released as a limited-edition double-CD, containing the following video clips: "In Shadows & Dust", "The Awakener", and two new video clips from the upcoming album: "As I Slither" and the movie theme song "The Night They Returned". The latter will be filmed in Montreal on November 20. The clip will contain band shots in the studio and movie excerpts. The bonus CD will also contain such goodies as wallpaper, screen saver and pictures. The artwork duties have once again been handled by acclaimed artist Thomas Ewerhard (Hypocrisy, Amon Amarth).

Anthrax Postpone Video Shoot

Anthrax have postponed the filming of the video for the track ‘What Doesn't Die’ until January. "We needed a bit more time to plan things and get the production side in place," explained drummer Charlie Benante. As previously reported, Brian Posehn, who acts in the TV sitcom "Just Shoot Me", will direct the clip, which will reportedly be very "creepy," with a bunch of "zombies" in it.

Fear Factory Sign Deal, Reveal Tracklisting, more

Fear Factory have checked in with a huge update, including the announcement of signing of a deal with D3 Entertainment in North America, and Roadrunner for Europe. They have also dubbed 'Archetype' as the title of the new album, with the following tracklisting:

Flaw Finds Drummer

Flaw has found a new drummer, hes from Milwaukee, WI and his name is Micah Havertape. In the meantime the band is almost done with their new album that has a projected early 2004 release date.

The Kovenant: In Writing Mode

Norway's The Kovenant are currently working on the material for the follow up to this year's "S.E.T.I." (Search For Extraterrestrial Intelligence), tentatively due in late 2004. "You can expect some real extravaganza," reads a post on the band's web site. "This time the band will break new grounds again and set the standards for the future metal scene. It will be recorded next year and hopefully released in 2004 as well."

The forthcoming CD, which is tentatively titled "The Dreaming Spires", will be The Kovenant's last for Germany's Nuclear Blast Records. On new songtitle has thus far been revealed: "Radiation King". Also planned for release is a DVD containing footage spanning the band's entire career.

As previously reported, The Kovenant recently added two new members to the group's lineup: Ram-Zet drummer Küth and Apoptygma Berzerk keyboardist Geir Bratland.

Former Misery Index Guitarist Bounces Back

Former Misery Index guitarist/vocalist Mike Harrison has posted several tracks from his solo project, dubbed Kommissar, at this location.

Kommissar's debut CD, titled "Equalizing Mediocrity", will contain seven songs that will "pick up where the original Misery Index debut CD 'Overthrow' left off," according to Harrison.

The four songs available for download are preliminary recordings with no vocals (guitar and drums only) which are being circulated in order to generate industry interest.

Among the tracks set to appear on "Equalizing Mediocrity" are the following:

Cage Writing Again

CAGE are in full writing mode at this time, having already completed 2 brand new songs and being halfway done with 2 more additional songs for their upcoming 4th cd due in summer 2004. More Thrash metal elements (faster-harder), are being incorporated into the music and what has been recorded so far is simply breathtaking. Some of the song titles being discussed at this time are: Raising Cain, Eye 4 an Eye, King Diamond (A tribute song to the black metal master himself) and Violent Solutions.
